Dennis, they do use US  bombs as well, in this case a mix of UK and US:

Somehow, suddenly, the men did not feel tired. At debriefing nobody is. There is the excitement of another trip finished safely. The reaction after hours of comparative silence. There is so much to remember and discuss. ‘Who blew up over the North Sea?’ ‘Looked like a Lanc.’ ‘We had six combats. Six!’ ‘Anyone missing?’ ‘The natives, my dear chap, were positively hostile.’ ‘… a ginormous explosion.’ ‘I believe Willard bought it.’ ‘Six combats!’ ‘Who got that Ju 88?’ ‘… fantabulous …’ ‘… coned over Bonn.’ ‘Target was a shambles.’ ‘Shhh!’ ‘Who blew up over the North firkin Sea?’ The men queued for coffee and biscuits and their tot of rum. They were excited and talkative; most of them were really only boys. The rum would make them talk even more. That was just what the intelligence officers wanted.”

I've been steadily adding some refinements to the cockpit, scratchbuilt the instrument panel support tower (which is not yet attached so I can modify the instrument panel later), and added rivets to the control yoke:

After this I expect the level of scratchbuilding to taper off, and look forward to finishing the rest of the cockpit assembly. Thanks for your support!

    Cheers, Tom

Tom if you plan on adding a bomb load to your project, this site gives info on the number and type of bombs as well as where they were loaded in the bay:

    Bomb Aimer's Briefing

No 428 Squadron listing but it gives you a general idea how they were loaded also some will also indicate how much Window (Chaff), normally loaded in the Bomb Aimer's compartment,  and Nickels (propaganda leaflets) was in the a/c as well.

Hope you have your rivet tool handy Chuck:

also note even though the CF-104 didn't have the inflight refueling probe, the stencil for it's location was there, even when they went camo some still had it.

Aside from painting the navigation lights and maybe a couple of touchups I'm calling this one done. I found myself starting to want to rush to move on from it and didn't want to take the chance of really ruining something. It's far from perfect but all in all I'm pretty happy with it. I took a few short cuts because I was loosing my patents. I sure learned plenty to take to future projects. I will take some better pictures tomorrow with the real camera and a neutral background and post them in the RFI forum. I want to thank everyone for the guidance and encouragement along the way. It's very much appreciated.

Too bad there is no 1/32 Mk-43 nuke available to put on:

in this case a practice version. Or you could just put a nice shiny MN-1A on the c/l:

    Gents,

As my Hawker Tempest build winds down, it's time to think about my next project, which I think will be a CF-104 in mostly bare metal like the pic below.  This is because:

It has to be a Jet.  I've done 2 Props in a row and it's time for some kerosene Nothing in my stash is calling me I've never built one before Lots of aftermarket is available I can order everything online I think I can have some fun with that bare metal finish.  Just look how scratched the upper surfaces are! There is one parked in our local museum for references It's Canadian, eh?
Like most of my models, I know nothing about them until I get into the build, so I need help.  This is what I'm about to order, but before I do, please let me know of anything wrong or other things you think I should buy or use.  As usual, this model will be loaded with lots of aftermarket stuff, but maybe some of these items are a waste of time?

    - ITA2514 1:32 Italeri F-104G F-104S Starfighter Upgraded RF Version.  This one has the correct decals for this bird, which I think is a "G" equivalent?
    - ARS2201 1:32 Aires F-104G F-104S Starfighter Cockpit Set with C2 Ejection Seat.  Is the C2 the correct seat, or the MB GQ-7A one?
    - ARS2205 1:32 Aires CF-104G F-104S Starfighter Wheel Bay Set
    - ARS2208 1:32 Aires F-104G F-104S Starfighter Electronics & Ammunition Bay Set
    - MASAM32037 1:32 Master Model F-104 Starfighter Pitot Tube
    - RESRS320010 1:32 ResKit F-104F F-104G Starfighter Wheels Set.  Eduard also has 2 sets of wheels, for early or late.  Which one is correct?
    - RESRSU320020U 1:32 ResKit F-104A F-104C F-104D F-104J F-104G Starfighter Exhaust Nozzle.  This also comes in an early or late version, while Brassin makes a set as well.     Which one should I buy?
    - EDU32427 1:32 Eduard PE - TF-104G Starfighter Exterior Detail Set.  I'm not sure what exactly is on this fret, but if there's a few nice items, it will be worth it.  Eduard also makes a lot of other things, but I think Aires resin stuff above covers all of those bases already?

Right now I am most interested in the Early or Late Wheels and Early or Late Exhaust.  Which ones for these birds below?

    Thanks,
    Chuck
