I worked all day. Then I went and had special Thai pineapple rice.
 
It took a long time to paint it. I used my H&S Silverline airbrush with a 1.5 needle and nozzle. The paint job, including the undercoat is amazingly thin.
 
Then came the decals. Urgh. I was to discover I'm not a fan of Trumpeter decals.
I will give them props for being astoundingly forgiving. 
 
You may remember this is not a real build for me. I'm using it to prepare for my next Trumpeter hurricane. I'll give this one away. The next one I shall keep. The hurricane holds a very special place in my heart. I distinctly recall telling my mum when I was 7, "The hurricane shot down 75% of German planes during the Battle of Britain."
She remained unimpressed. I even remember where we were. It was a sunny day, Box Hill Melbourne, 1971.
 
So anyway...

I just use a black base and paint over it. I stopped at that point last night, I'm waiting for daylight to check if I need to tone it down. 
 
It's 7.00 am now and I plan to work all day. I have changed subject, and it will be Trumpeter decals showing Ian Gleed's BoB hurricane Mk.I 
 
(I changed it due to the propeller spinner. Apparently this aircraft was a Gloster built hurricane.)
 
These are the same markings used by Airfix back in the 70's when I built that kit. 
 
Hopefully this build will surpass my earlier effort.

Approximately 4 years ago I bought this kit. Upon receiving it I threw this together to see how it looked.

 
I noted in the thread leading to this GB, a Sopwith Camel which had a similar history. 
 
As a result I am adding this model to the Air Superiority GB.
 
On a whim I dub this out of the very bottom of a large stack of models and went to work.
 
I had the best time ever! What a great kit! This build with be, with the exception of decals, OOB.
 

 
This is where I left it last night.
 

 
I set my alarm to 5.30 AM. just so I could begin early. It is now 6.52 am and I am working on it.
 
In the past I have doubted my ability to complete a model. Having just built 5 armour projects, I feel 100 % confident my two builds will be completed on time.

I didn't think much about a 1/32 Whirlwind when I first learned of it. I built the old Airfix model when a wee lad. It was very nice. (The kit. Not my build).
 
However, now I find myself chomping at the bit. And looking forward to this kit.
 
I think of it ALL the time!!!

The subject is 206 victory ace,  Walter Schuck's 262.
 
I read his book and liked the guy. He spent most of his career up north serving in 9/JG 5.  Following that he was transfered flying Reich defence in the jet.
 I just ordered the decals from Germany. I just realised they come without swastikas. Grrrrrrr!!!!!!!

In this hobby, something utterly tragic occurred. Some idiot made it a competition. 
 
The best model I ever made was an Airfix Lancaster. I was young and took it to primary school and showed it to anyone who showed interest/patience.
 
The idiots above would have failed my Lancaster.  
 
They forgot what it has always been. Fun and excitement. And Joy.

Hey guyS.
 
I've gone cold turkey for a week. My pain level is serious but life was never meant to be easy. 
 
I seem to be running out of medications to try. 
 
Life's a funny thing. I am at this time choreographing an awards ceremony. All while hiding everything. A child is involved. He cannot see it.
 
However! The replacement decals for my hurricane arrived today and I repaired the paint work, added the lost decalmand have begun weathering the model.
