  1. Hey Kevin, Unfortunately, no. I've been working on wrapping up other projects that I owe to friends and family, and we're going to move to Houston in May, so that's going to put another hold on it. I will get back to it this year though! Is that even considered an optimistic estimate?! - Larry
  2. Hey Wolf, "Muck up." I'm afraid you're doing a horrible job with that... - Larry
  3. Still doing great, Chuck! I like seeing not just the impressive detail in general, but the detail specific to the real tail being put into this model, too. Again, great job, and keep it up. Can't wait to see the finished product. - Larry
  4. Hey Chuck, You're doing some great work on that bird. The landing gear looks great too. That was my specialty in the Air Force, and you're bringing back some pretty cool memories. As for the whole cockpit, I can't say enough. Very realistic. Again, great work, man!
  5. I feel now is the right time to recite an old, long-winded quote from a famous WWII general that perfectly sums up your detailing: "NUTS!" - Gen McAuliffe Great job so far, bud!
  6. That's some great work, Wolf! I look forward to more updates.
  7. That's a really interesting photo! We use that same fishing pole concept to hang the Multi-Point Refueling Systems (MPRS) pods on KC-135's. It's a pain, and after 70+ years, you'd think the British would design a more efficient way to hang things on pylons... The MPRS pods were also designed by a British company, in case you're wondering.
  8. Thanks for the tips, Chuck, and I can't wait to see it finished!
  9. That black and white looks real! Great job.
  10. Great model! I love the look of that wood. Very good job.
  11. Thank you so much, everyone!
  12. Go for it man! I'm glad you like it.
  13. Did you cry like "Gawge" too? I have an eight and six-year-old, so I'm going on about six years of Peppa right now... It's still a hilarious show, sometimes. Anyways, great work is an understatement! Wow! I love all the detail and the panel lines on the plane. I especially love the stenciling. I didn't realize how realistic that makes a model look! The carrier deck is another thing, altogether... Again, great job and keep it up!
  14. Hahaha "mywifehatesmodels", I sense some tension... Beautiful work, John!
  15. Thanks bud, I appreciate it!
  16. Hello, everyone! This is a Revell 1/48 F-15E with 391st FS, Bold Tiger markings. A friend of mine, who I worked hydraulics with in Mountain Home, got orders, and deserved a going-away plaque. I built this model to be mounted on it. The reason the left main landing gear is still stowed, is because while he was TDY to Korea, one of the jets broke and landed in that configuration. That jet kept him there for an extra month, even though he couldn't really be of any help to it. It was one of his most memorable things about Mountain Home, and wanted me to capture it for him on this model. It took me about a week and a half to complete. Thanks for looking! I added black flocking to mimic the sheep-skin seat pads in the E-model.
  17. Hey Chuck, I'm excited to see this come together! From what you're describing, those red braces are just that; safety locks. Since the canopy system on the F-15 is hydraulic, if there's leak or a bleed in the system, the canopy will fall. Those locks prevent it from doing obvious things while someone's working in the cockpit.
  18. Will that even fit on a desk?! Either way, I'm down to get my hands on one!
  19. Thank you, everyone, for the warm welcomes and kind comments! I'll be sure to post more (and better) pictures as I go along. I apologize in advance if it takes me a while, but, maybe this forum will motivate me to focus on some projects more often.
  20. Great job on that! I love how the leather seats turned out; very realistic.
  21. Unbelievable progress on that, sir! I find it amazing what you're doing with an all-but discarded model. I'm definitely following this one.
  22. What does the baking soda do? Act as a filler, or a sort of concrete? Good work so far!
