I built it quite a few years ago and this sounds familiar. I think mostly it pertains to the gun bays but it is not that bad. I enjoyed the kit a lot. I have the Revell which I intend to build soon.
  2. We don't know how lucky we are. You might appreciate my hobby room Dale. I works hard for this, but appreciate that so many people are less fortunate.
  3. Hi all, here's my entry. I originally bought this kit wanting to build a P-40 my great uncle flew in Italy but it's the wrong model. So as I also have the decals for Gloria Lyons, that will be my subject. This one also has a very local connection. Here's the box: I'm looking forward to this build.
  4. Oh, and the turntable is usually used for serving food.
  5. Hi Ernest, thanks. I think you are right in waiting. This kit took so much time in filling etc., that I lost energy and time at the end. I think the Trumpeter 1/24 Mk.IIc Hurricanes are a big step up from this. I might add one to the stash (I always preferred the Mk.IIc anyway).
  6. Well, its the 30th here, so I must be finished. Airfix 1/24 Hurricane straight out of the box. Funny kit, a but quite crude in many ways. Some of the fit is imprecise and parts are oversized/funny looking. Glad to have another one done though. See you for the next group build!
  7. Almost there. As usual, the last little bits take soooo long.
  8. I'm not British, but I suspect there is a rich vernacular for said appendage.
  9. If I'm going to get this finished I need to pull finger. A quick camo mask and spray over the last day. The paint is Tamiya acrylic dark green and a mix of Tamiya flat earth and khaki for the brown. Next up a gloss coat, detail painting, and decals (of which there are very few ).
  10. Agreed, the last thing you want to do is distract from the model itself.
  11. I built this kit five or six years ago and just remember having a lot of fun with it. I made absolutely no attempt to update or detail it, but I'm sure you could (especially the intake doors as noted above). I also remember that it was a pretty impressive size when finished. I'd build another one right now I I could find the kit. Maybe Airfix will rebox it like they have recently with the Hurricane, 109 and Spitfire?
  12. I'll be doing everything out of the box. The decals are No.87 squadron August 1940.
  13. Pushing through to get this finished. Certainly not a show winner. There are a lot of gaps/steps to fill/sand, particularly around the wing root and engine cowling. I shot some paint (just what was available) to get a sense of what needed more work. I won't do too much more.
  14. Here in (non-lockdown) New Zealand I spent the morning painting the figure of the ancient Airfix 1/24 Hurricane kit, listening to the rain on the roof and feeling comparatively good about the world.
  15. Lots of progress on this. I've decided to use the figure so I gave it a quick paint. (Still have to paint the eyebrows!) Next I'll close it all up and beginning the painting. Anyone noticed that Xf-15 flat flesh is this bizarre shade of orangish pink? Doesn't seem a particularly natural flesh tone to me.
  16. Thanks, that was sort of my intention. I've travelled a bit through Japan on their amazing train network, and love the scenery. I wish I was a better painter though.
  17. They were there, I doubt they have any nerd obsessions about correct colours etc.
  18. And a video! I'll be working on the fine detail on this over our summer. It looks a bit bare at the moment and I think the detail will bring it to life.
  19. I made it through the teaching semester so I finally have a bit of time to devote to this. I have most of it together, including the subassemblies, and now it is time for addressing all the gaps and various bumps and ridges (as you can see from the picture there are quit a few). But I was patient and got it together pretty straight I think. Once that's finished I'll start the painting. The cockpit can be inserted from below which simplifies things in this regard. I think I'm also going to use the figure which should be fun to paint. I reckon I can have this done by the deadline.

    Health

All the best Dale, when I was on dialysis before my kidney transplant there were a bunch of amputees in the ward. And I also faced a similar situation for a time. It's not the end of the world, but obviously something you want to avoid. There are some complete idiots out there undermining mask use, obviously thinking it is only about them and forgetting all the vulnerable folk around them. Makes me pretty angry sometimes.
  21. Thanks Lothar. Your countrymen produce some of the most amazing rail modelling. We visited a couple of years ago. One more pic:
  22. Something a little different. I've been working on this for a couple of years and I've only just got up to the stage of buildings and fine details. It's a bit hard to explain it all, but it's all N Scale Japanese stuff that I bought on the occasions when my wife and I were in Japan. Everything has been modified/repainted. Scenery is plaster, static grass, etc. I'm looking forward to getting into doing the details soon.
