  1. Hi must say it pleases me to get nice feedback. As I'll be going on Vacation for a month. I thought I should post my WIP Wing. I've opened the Radiator Panels and Wing Tanks. Added a few bit of Poly and Tin and then did a fair bit of sanding. This is still work in progress and the tin panels need rivets/screws and a few holes as well. After that its down to building up the inside. The Sea Mossie Hinges from Alley Cat are in place but also in process of a rework as I want to make them functional. Hope you enjoy the photos. Radiator Radiator Closed with 0.24 mm tin and locked using 2mm Neodym magnets Radiator Boxes Open Wing Tank Panels held in place using 4 2mm Neodym Magnets Tank Bays open "Lots to do inside" As said all WIP so not clean and tidy Hope you enjoy the pics and am looking forward to getting back from vacation to finish the wings off. Cheers, Mike
  2. Hi Anthony, I just spent the last week opening the Tank Bays and Radiator Hatches. Still all being worked on, but I hope to have it presentable by Monday 30th April. Strange as it seems I've needed no shimming and all fits perfect despite all the reworking I've done to the inner fuselage. On the other hand it could be the reason why. Not sure whether I'll rework the fairings at the moment it all depends on what work needs to be done on the engine nacelles. Yours definitely make a good impression and it does give me that little bit more motivation. Cheers, Mike
  3. As you have probably noticed some images of the assembled fuselage crept into Unit 6 Unit 7 Fuselage port wall control cables and radio II Together with unit 7 came the assembly of the fuselage halves. Surprisingly it went very well and only a few problems arose. The support struts behind the seats will need to be made new. Also the hinge for the instrument maintenance door will probably be made new. Currently I assembled a provisional photo etch. Case Closed. Or better fuselage.Work on the fuseage will resume after wing assembly. After 3 hours laying in a dentists chair I finally drew up a plan for the radiators. 1. Maintenance doors will be removable and held in place using small magnets. 2. The air exit panel behind the radiators will be hinged. Closed using magnets. 3. Struts incorporated in the radiator compartment. 4. Both sides of the radiator compartment will be built up based on photos. 5. The radiator will probably be built using the Airfix front panel but incorporate full depth. 6. All connections will be put in place. 7. The control rods, and piping behind the radiators will be visible. This will naturally be built twice. Before this can start I will have to part assemble the wing hinges as I'm building a Sea Mossie. And probably build up the struts around the wing tanks for stability. As this thread is now up to date the updates will not be coming so fast, as I now have to get back to building. Anyhow, hope you enjoyed the view. Cheers, Mike
  4. And immediately after that. Unit 6 Port cockpit wall Cheers, Mike
  5. Hi Mal, glad you like the ideas I've had. Here's the rest of the current build. Time for Unit 5 Inner fuselage rear of bomb bays and including hydraulics and Radio I Cheers, Mike
  6. Hi Antony, I'll probably be starting on the radiators end of week. Will keep you informed about progress etc.. Anyway time for Unit 4 Section above wing, or better above bomb bay containing Radios, Distributor and Life Raft. There's a historical deviance here. Although many mosquitos had two radios installed here I have mine in the rear fuselage. These were placed so that when looking through the cut out for the life raft there is actually a bit more to see. Next Unit 5 will be Main fuselage containing Hydraulic controls and tanks and Radio #1 Hope you enjoyed all the pics. Cheers, Mike
  7. Hi Mal, I built in the LED's more for the effect than for realism. As far as I know the instruments in the Mosquitos where not illuminated. Also the lights in the fuselage where actually in different positions. I put them center for convenience. I also noticed that I made a mistake in closing the fuselage. (Photos still to come ) I still need to place the lights in the tail plane and will need to lay the wires somehow. Challenging! My current count is another 8 LED's with a flasher unit and battery built into one of the wing tanks. Hi Loic, The start actually started 5 months ago with a few breaks. I'm currently updating this post before I start working on wings and radiators. Cheers, Mike
  8. Hello again. @Lob mag jeder. after Sunday lunch and a little more translating. Here is Unit 3. Starboard Cockpit wall. After making these photos using my macro I thought I needed to do some paint patching. After putting the fuselage together I discovered that there was not much need as the rework was not visible anyway. That's all for Today Folks. I'll continue with the update tomorrow. As for now I plan to plan the wing structure. The main difficulty will be the Radiators as I plan to make these fully detailed with all maintenance doors and piping. Enjoy the day. Cheers, Mike
  9. Hi Antony, I used the harnesses from EDUARD "Seatbelts RAF WWII late" and did some little, but only some little modifications. Heres the next Unit. Unit 2. rear section inside the fuselarge above the wings Hope you enjoyed the photos. The next unit is naturally #3 and is the starboard cockpit wall. All questions welcome and have a nice day. Cheers, Mike
  10. Hi Matt, glad you like it. I've just translated the next images and thought I would post now rather than later. Moved Images to other sections The next Unit will be the rear section inside the fuselarge above the wings. This is where the battery, oxygen tanks, drinking water tank and hydraulic oil tank are situated. Its a complete scrath build and I'll post as soon as possible. Cheers, Mike
  11. Hi @Kev: sorry about the server mishap. I noticed just after I posted and then failed in correcting. Anyway second try and hoping it works. @Antony: Nice to be here! I usually break my build down into smaller units and finish each unit before posting. Being a Brit and living in Germany since 71 I already posted the main section of the fuselarge at Wettringer a German site. Currently I'm translating so more will come soon. Here are the first images of Unit 1 : The Cockpit ( Excuse the German comments ) More closeups to follow soon. All questions welcome! Cheers, Mike
  12. Hi, as I've been reading in this Forum for a long time I decided to sign up and present my version of the Mosquito 1/24 from Airfix. This is a work in progress and I have just finished the main part of the fuselage. I'm building this kit in stages or units and will be updating after every stage. The fuselage actually consisted of 7 stages until now, but as I have completed these already I will just start with the images of the first Unit. You can always feel free to ask any questions and I will gladly answer them as soon as possible. Unit 1. Starting with the Cockpit Interior. Cheers, Mike
  13. Hi Antony, thought I'd give you a visit as well, after you visited my Mosquito on Wettringer the German Forum. I must say that being a Brit its nice to attract attention from outside Germany. Been living here for 45 years. I'm impressed with your Mosie and see that you have done lots of things I'm intending to do as well. It seems where you have decided to work on the outside first I've taken the other approach starting with cockpit and interior. One thing I'm interested in is anykind of documentation on the Mosie would be a good idea to exchange sources. The more info we can get the better. Living in Germany there are not too many books availble. Cheers, Mike
