  1. I'd buy a set, I'm so sick of tiny decals! I'd much rather mix up some NATO Black from Tamiya and spray. You got a sale from me!
  2. dynamite phantom! superb work, and congrats on the article!
  3. keep plugging away! it looks good, everytime I I think I have botched up a paint job, it usually ends up turning out how I had envisioned, I just took a different road to get there! I'm looking forward to seeing more progress!
  4. made some more progress today, slowly but surely it's starting to look like a mig, I still have a ton of work to do, I have decided to build this one with the rear tail off and engine exposed, so I will have to make the cradle for the rear wing assembly and the engine. Here are some pictures of where I'm at now.
  5. looks really good! can't wait to see further progress.
  6. thank you for posting those pictures! IP=intrstument panel, got it, damn I'm dumb for having not been able to put two and two together on that one.
  7. thanks for the heads up, what do you mean the "PANIC stripe and front of the IP"
  8. made some more progress tonight, got the fuselage and the pit done.
  9. I better let him know that after my Mig 15 build, I will be building another Scooter and I plan to weather the crap out of it, and go for the salt weathering technique!
  10. i'm more of a suck sqeeze bang blow guy, but I'm going to take a guess and say the purpose of the dual would be continuous spark if one goes down and left fires bank one, then two, alternating the spark pattern? Please do not throw a book at me if I'm wrong
  11. hey guys, thank you for letting me take part in this group build! after I got my Skyhawk done, I got bitten by the "need" to build something else for this group build. So I thought why not do one for the bad guys? I have done a decent amount of research, and learned that while Mig15's never saw action from the Vietnamese Air Force, they were used heavily for training. and saw all of their action during the Korean war. Regardless the kit was the right price, and it sorta fits the guidelines for this group build, so why not? I have not decided if I'm going to be building this one with the tail off/on exposing the engine and or flaps up/down and gun bay doors open. Regardless here are some pictures of my started build
  12. Yeah there are some really great phantom builds and phantom builders/geeks here! and that's a great thing! I'd like to build a C/D model for my dad with Clark AFB markings. Since speed hunter just released a set, it's on my radar and my want to build list! I'm thinking this would be a nice Christmas gift for this upcoming year.
  13. thanks Paul, I really appreciate it, I'm still on the fence about pulling the trigger on a Tamiya Phantom. I'm also considering doing a 1/32 bf-109. I just don't know what model and or what kit yet. Eduard has a profipack that's really appealing, all the mask's and the photo etch all in one package. We will have to see.
  14. thanks guys, as far as hanging weapons, I decided not too on this build, I've done full load outs on pretty much every 1/48 and or 1/72 build, I wanted to go no weapons on this one. I wouldn't mind building a F-4 Phantom, if I were to do that, I would want to build it with my dad's squadron markings, Which would be Clark AFB, and I know Speed Hunter is set to release that sheet. So I might build some 1/48 and 1/72 stuff that I have in my stash. But thank you for letting me take part in this group build.
  15. Well I was able to get the canopy hung and installed the steel beach intake plugs and used the Eduard remove before flight hang tags. Thanks everyone for allowing me to be part of this group build.
  16. man great work! I can't wait to see the outcome, nice job on all of the scratch building
  17. Clark AFB markings!!!!!! Hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. well I burned the 2am oil last night and got all the decaling done. This morning I blasted a coat of dull coat over everything, and this is where I'm at as of now. I have to add a few more coats of dull. But in theory I should be able to get this thing done today.
  19. man scale, that's pretty damn funny! I'm enjoying the large build, I don't know if I will build anything else in 1/32, I've got all the room in the world for it, but I don't have the extra room in my wallet.
  20. I used to use nothing but model master enamels, but I just couldn't get them to really spray right, they would spatter and clog, no matter how much I thinned them down. I then tried the tamiya acrylics and I've had nothing but great results and easy spraying. So I have stuck with it, when I do shoot model master acrylics I get the same result as the tamiya colors. I'm going to be putting the decals down tonight, and or at least I plan too.
  21. thanks Paul, I really appreciate it, I haven't decided how heavy on the wash I'm going to, I'm also still deciding if I want to decal then dull coat, then do a wash. I'm thinking that's the way I will go, but I might do a wash, then decal, then dull coat. I really don't think there is a wrong order on how to do the process.
  22. Thanks for the help Paul, I really appreciate it. I got up early today and got to work right away, I got the burner can and engine done, as well as the canopy masked and sprayed, I also got the landing gear wheels painted and masked. Thank god for Eduard mask kits, Here are some pics.
  23. so I started painting the grey tonight, and the kit calls for gloss gull gray FS 16440, I picked up some model master acrylic paint and got to spraying. Something about the color just doesn't look right, it's a little too dark, and it's not very grey. I have some Tamiya sky grey that I might mix up with some white, We will see how this looks tomorrow after drying
