Hardcore reacted to Erwin in Messerschmitt Me 61 " Schmetterling"
Hi all,
My second "what-if" is a more plausible one.
Anno 1942:
Germany is providing Japan with the DB 601 engine for their new Kawasaki 61 fighter.
In return, Germany wants 100 planes .
The Messerschmitt works will make some small changes for use by the Afrikakorps.
Calling it the Me 61 "Schmetterling"
I shall use the Hasegawa kit.

Hardcore got a reaction from MikeMaben in What do you all listen to while modeling?
I bet you can get that tv noise on YouTube. Some people need to listen to such to go to sleep

Old movies on the TV in another room with the volume low enough so I can't hear what they're saying.
Easy Listening music or anything without a drum beat. (Can't have my toe tapping).

Dead silence in my hobby room….or I can’t hear the other voices in my head

Hardcore reacted to JeepsGunsTanks in Thoughts on "Book Nooks"
I was poking around on eBay, searching for variations of 1/16 Models, 1/16 Tamiya, etc., when something caught my eye in a recommended ad thing.
It's a thing called a book nook.
So, basically, it's a little Diorama you put in your bookshelf. My first thought was that it was kind of cool, so I looked to see if there were any that were actually interesting, with cars, tanks, or airplanes in them. No dice.
So, are they missing a whole market segment, or is this basically a doll house in disguise? I think it would be pretty necessary to have a Stalingrad diorama in a book-shaped box on your tank bookshelf. It seems like a Perfect way to display a tank on a street, that kind of thing. It's a little much in if your model is 1/16, but I bet you could do a pretty cool setup in 1/32 for a tank. Airplanes, not so much, but you for sure could do a 1/72 bird.
Does this give you guys ideas or the rolly eyes?

First progress.
Build the wing and joined it to the fuselage.
Note that I merged the right door and top window into the fuselage.
Much putty and a lot of sanding will be done to get it smooth.
I decided to go for Rommel's long-range command plane.
Much space inside for radio's ,map table and even a bed !
Will also add two drop tanks.
Don't want to run out of fuell over the desert.
I actually did a three-tone D-27 in ambulance markings many years ago.
I don't have it anymore.
No pictures too.
I might go for sand-brown and green splinter.
But it's "what-if".
So I can do whatifer I like.

Hardcore got a reaction from Martinnfb in Kotare teaser - it's a Bf 109K!
Late war Bf109s are very good subject for Modellers. The Ks even more, with non-regulation paint occasionally and three distinct patterns plus the Erla mystery.

Hardcore reacted to MikeMaben in So I'm not dead after all ...
Haven't been here since Monday last week. So what's your excuse fool ??
Well, I fell and fractured one left rib and my right thumb (fractured not broken).
Don't wanna whine but I hope none of you have to spend any time in an emergency
waiting 'lobby' (they called it). It's like a nightmare form hell .
Anyway , glad to be back , won't be much on the thunderbolt project but I'll do the
best I can.
