Old movies on the TV in another room with the volume low enough so I can't hear what they're saying.

Easy Listening music or anything without a drum beat. (Can't have my toe tapping).

I bet you can get that tv noise on YouTube. Some people need to listen to such to go to sleep

Although I did pledge to myself that I was not going to build anymore kits that steal too much life.

Those old things have very low number of parts. My kit comes with resin wheels, which is I intend to use because the original are ugly, and I may use a new spinner and prop i got lying around. That and some putty.

Should be a quick build letting me focus on painting.

  3. So I came across an item I had never heard of except at the dentist's office); a portable water flosser. Some figurine painters have started cleaning their airbrushes with this gadget. . Interesting idea! Especially intriguing is the cordless version. I have no idea how resistant the liquid container is to different solvents; Vallejo, MRP, and similar should probably work. Of course, a plastic bottle with a narrow nozzle should work well as an alternative

You could also go for the late war greens for the upper wings, RLM 81 and 82.  RLM 81 comes in both brown and green variants, go for the green.

When that art work was conceived information on Luftwaffe camouflage was limited, and the image is not representative of the way most Bf 109Gs were actually painted.    But if you want reproduce those colors why not just mix your paint to match the artwork?

Paint mixing is difficult and my paint rack only contain a few bottles.

Maybe I can find matches in a large range, like vallejo?

  5. I am very fond of this illustration that was on Airfix's old Bf109G in 1/72 scale. There are a lot of mistakes, but it doesn't matter. In fact, I want to reproduce the most significant part: the colors in the camouflage. The problem is that they hardly exist in any Luftwaffe color series, so I have to figure them out myself. That's where I would need tips and ideas. Any input is welcome!

Yes, it had "beulen" but i figure it is the same kit.

  7. Sorry guys, the REAL difference is that the Revell kit passes the K.I.S.S. test. The clue was clearly printed on the box: 40 parts. 40!

I bought the the kit to use as a paint mule (I recently gave away all my unfinished kits to a fellow here on LSP). It is a simple yet reasonable accurate build that I first built when I was a teenager. (The larger Hasegawa Bf109s are similar)

I liked it very much which is really why I bought it again.

Now when I think about it maybe I should go back to building kits I liked. They will not be the best, but perhaps a better base for an enjoyable build?

(anyone got the big old 60's Revell Bf109 in the stash?)

  8. Rechlin didn't have many exotic weapons or other test related stuff, but prague-kbely had a real Fritz-X! Apparently Czech AF tested those after the war. That was news to me. Should be interesting stuff in their archives.

Then they had a genuine Me262 and Bf109s, Avia builds of course.

What really struck me was how blunt and big the noses of the Bf109 are. Bigger in life one could say.

    Entry was free.

  9. A few points of interest:

At rechlin they have what I suspect is a model of a su-7/22? that probably was used as a prop for a movie.

The Hind got traces of both west and faded east markings.

While the location once was of great importance little stuff remains. There was not enough time to properly read all information and examine equipment so that was just my impression.

Highlights: the authentic Bf109, Hind, An-2 (it's huge!) and Do 335

United Health care is a stock i follow, it makes $25.00 per share outstanding and pays about a 1.5% dividend.  So health care is paying as a business, but does that really work for the patient?

I recall reading it is a drag on the US economy too. The actual cost is higher compared to comparable nations, but I don't know if any studies have been done about hidden costs; like cost of bloated bureaucracy, opportunity costs, reduced productivity of workers, etc

A few years back, after a near miss on a potential lawsuit, we purchased a $1M umbrella policy.   Didn’t add a lot to our homeowners’ premium and I sleep much better at night knowing I’ve got the extra protection.

Yes, lawyers, they are rarely involved here in compensation claims. In fact they are quite rare in the Swedish society.

I figure the insurance system evolved differently because of this.
