  1. Hi Daniel, I think you’ve made a really good (and plausible) start on the inside of the cowl. Have you seen Michael Connelley’s walk-around photos of the last Hayate? He captured some details of the inner cowl structure that might be useful. More at Connelley’s Hayate walkaround. Superb resource for modeling a detailed Ki-84. Cheers, Adam
  2. Looks great, John, especially the finish on the back padding. Looks just right. Adam
  3. Cost per flying hour. Or, the Central Pennsylvania Field Hockey Club. Adam
  4. For replicating stenciled markings, these look like a good option to have. I considered buying a set for my Uhu, but many of the markings on the genuine article were hand-lettered, not stenciled, and the necessary breaks in the masks have an adverse effect on legibility. Cheers Adam
  5. An SR-71 would certainly pair well with your Viggen. They do share some history. Cheers, Adam
  6. Hypersonic has been designing upgrades for the Revell kit, and their own project is in the tooling stage with Gaspatch. That’s from their FB account. I would love to have an accurate Blackbird in 1/32nd scale, but HPH kits aren’t my thing. Adam
  7. No reason to think it’s a joke, HPH has been making noises about kitting an SR-71 for years. I will be very happy when the Hypersonic-Gaspatch 1/48th Blackbird comes out. It promises to be miles ahead of the very basic Revell offering. Cheers Adam
  8. Peter, you sly dog, I thought you’d finished this one. It’s a great work of art, period. Cheers, Adam
  9. I recall from the Old Man’s Blog that the Fw-190 series took a long time to develop because some engineering puzzles were frustrating, including the rear fuselage. They appear to have cracked that code with a one-piece dorsal section. Solving that problem may have cleared the path for kitting the different Ki-100 fuselages. Same goes for the Kawasaki’s Fw-190 inspired engine installation: getting the Focke -Wulf kits engines right prepared ZM for the Kawasaki series. Just like the real thing. Adam
  10. That’s a great surprise to wake up to. Certainly a happier surprise than the genuine article was to its adversaries. Cheers, Adam
  11. The YF-23 was pretty curvaceous. Whoever put a red Black Widow logo on it had more than the P-61 on his mind. Definitely a Marvel guy. Adam
  12. The latest from The Kyiv Independent: Antonov has proposed an international fund-raising effort to build a new Mryia. Slava Ukraini. Adam
  13. Showgirl? Yellow feathers in her hair, dress cut down to there? Goes by Lola? Be careful. She’s running a con with Tony. He may have shot someone.
  14. Yep, and they stated that they want to make kits appealing to a wide age-range of builders, including very young ones. Allowing that there are prodigies out there, building and painting highly detailed engine assemblies is usually not kids stuff, and it can be a mojo-killer for the experienced even when everything works. Can’t wait to see the test shots for this one. Cheers, Adam
  15. Matt, I spent a little time today looking at F-22 photos on Flickr. You’re absolutely right, pros with good gear, angles and timing can capture a lot. Getting detailed shots of the open weapon bays of airborne F-22’s is no small feat. Cheers Adam
  16. Hi John, I’m sorry that happened to you. Times must be tough at the troll farms. Hopefully they’ve been put in the cooler. Cheers, Adam
  17. I dunno, man, I think maybe you’re just leaving the parties too early. Cheers, Adam
  18. Based on very limited acquaintance with Belenko’s ride, Hasegawa did a pretty damn good job with their classic 1/72nd MiG-25. Kitting one was a gamble but they spotted the niche, had the talent for it and it still holds up well. Cheers, Adam
  19. True. That is the ancient lament of Blackbird lovers. And yet, we persist. Cheers, Adam
  20. The snake I referred to is the aircraft itself, which had the handling characteristics of an angry python. Adam
  21. I get queasy just thinking about controlling that snake. Neat looking model. Adam
  22. Some of Kitty Hawk’s kits will be re-popped, I’m sure of that. Worthwhile pick-ups for Italeri or Revell, or Special Hobby, who could do their thing with detail enhancements. Adam
  23. I’m glad I scored one of Kitty Hawk Kingfishers before they closed shop, and glad I took notes from LSP on how to fix the kit’s shortcomings. A new OS2U is unlikely, and I don’t mind the work. Adam
  24. It stood its ground. It’s now a symbol of resistance. That’s bigger - and more necessary - than the airframe. Adam
