  1. Cheers Kev. This is one of those builds I just cannot put down. Should have "doomed" it weeks ago. Thanks Brian! Lots of head scratching moments on the part alone. Chrish, thanks for the kudos. Thanks Maru. Cannot wait to see all the loadout variations.
  2. You’re crushing this and owning every sliver of angst this build gives you. this is one of my fave Grunman a/c. I have the 1:48 scale F7 with a box of am stuff. engines, prop, wheels, pe, Inspiration is real.
  3. GUNSIGHT BLUES Long ago I test fitted, test fitted and adjusted the IP comb so the photoetch gunsight would fit and not touch the windscreen. After applying the HUD film the fit was a fail as the windscreen touched the gunsight. Have no idea what happened. That said, I had to carefully remove the HUD film and re-work the IP, IP comb and other angst causing adjustments. Finally got the fit correct. Mask inside/outside windscreen paint then glue windscreen and hopefully begin painting. Using the Eduard film as a template, I cut the HUD "reflector glass" film to fit the PE. HUD film secured with Future. The "lens" was created before attaching the HUD film. A silver decal cut to match the circumfrence on the pe part is positioned. After cure, acrylic glue was carefully placed over the silver decal and cured with UV light. Dryfit along with IP and Baker Bang Seat. Pardon the dust. With windscreen dryfit.
  4. I'm in as "donor only". will check my stash.
  5. Thanks Troy. Epic build, perhaps. Epic angst? You betcha. It’s been fun with plenty of lessons learned. call it therapeutic.
  6. cheers and thanks! now to start on the canopy mask and canopy plumbing. Then paint. I’ve been waffling on whether to go with 3 tone grey camo as originally planned or Gunze 305 dark grey FS36118 overall. more photo etch angst to come. Horray!
  7. If sub had to do emergency dive with the rotokite deployed. Bu bye pilot. look forward to put this together. Gonna be plenty of scratch work. Keep ears tuned for screams. My nautical knowledge is zilch. So let the learning curve begin.
  8. pouring through this string and yikes! that's some really well done detail. never been an armor guy. I can appreciate your efforts on the detail. bravo!
  9. Recent acquisition to enhance displaying my Fa330. Stay tuned.
  10. Ordnance, fuel tanks and FLIR complete! This represents more time than I spent on the A29 kit to date. Each has mini magnets for easy load out configuration. Over 80 decals and over 50 pe parts. I lost count how many colorful metaphors and "WTFFF-are you kidding me!" moments. Left to center: AGM 114 Hellfire misssles x2 Mk.20 Rockeye II GBU 12 External fuel tank LANTIRN - Low Altitude Navigation Targeting Infrared Night Only 2 hard points each wing and center hard point. Really anxious to see if the HUD Film shows up when model is on the table.
  11. US Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) received an A29 this summer in Heritage livery. WWII CBI scheme. Interesting look. Still a meh for me on the scheme excite ‘o meter. Looks better on 51's.
  12. More bombs? While body work cures I decided to play with explodey things. Eduard 648168 Mk.20 Rockeye II. Bonus is I'm getting a nice set of 1:48 ordnance complete (with mounting magnets) and will certainly put these to use when I break out my A7E Corsair. Think HAF livery with massive load out. I’ll just have to build the Mk.81’s Only 1 piece of pe each. It's a beautiful thing. Over a dozen decals each, horray! I fiddled around with those yellow stripe decals enough on these. Moving forward will mask and paint, like I did on the AGM's. Less time and less aggravation. After a varnish some panel line wash is applied to bring out some detail. Tamiya FX86 Flat Clear with MLT 1:1 seals the panel line wash.
  13. GBU12's in the home sretch. A varnish of Tamiya FX86 flat clear 1:1 with MLT seals the panel wash. Now to give the laser seeker head some love. Using my DSPIAE cutter I cut 2mm dia circles of HUD film. Secured with HUD film Future. I know you're wondering...HUD film placed correct side up. To create the lens I carefully placed a dot of thick UV Acrylic glue on the tip of laser seeker. Then cured with a shot of UV light. Color me happy. A little dusting with Olive Drab pigment on the bomb casing to come. The end is near on these guys.
  14. LANTIRN Pod (Eduard 648548) completed. Painted overall Gunze 305 Dark Grey (FS36118) I'm digging this color and considering this color for overall on aircraft in lieu of my original plan of 3 color camo. I cut a piece of HUD film to place over the laser seeker lens. The silver base mask not the cleanest so I'll try a panel line wash around the lens. Further, I placed the HUD film wrong side up so the effect is "less". Then, I carefully spread Acrylic UV glue and gave it a shot of UV light to cure. Not the effect I was hoping for due to incorrect placement of the HUD film. Meh, FICE!
  15. Thanks RD, me too on the AGM's it's a badass look for sure. If the 1/32 scale kit is remotely similar to the A29 upgrade set, be prepared for some serious angst.
  16. First viewing, 1984, I was, "Did I miss something?" I read the books and the move clearly bounced around rapidly. When released on VHS I bought and watched it over a dozen times. Saw something I missed each time. When SNG came out i said that Piccard character looks familiar. Later I watched Dune for the millioneth time and had the epiphany...Gurney! Will certainly buy this Dune release as I am sure I'll watch it over and over and see something different each time.
  17. GNU 12's decals, lots of them...9 each. Hooray! Final varnish to seal decals then on to panel line wash.
  18. GBU 12's get some paint love. Overall olive drab. Laser guidance tech housing masked and painted brown. Chaff and flare dispensers secured with CA. While varnish cures on the missiles I had me some test fitting fun. Hellfire loadout with LANTIRN pod and fuel tanks. Seeker eyes HUD film reflect. GBU 12 loadout. The beauty of magnets allows swapping out any ordnance. I have extra GBU 10 Rockeyes and will be added to the "magnet mount" line-up.
  19. Perhaps HAS is ramping up to beat ZM-SWS release of their Fw190 line?
