Hi folks,
 
My first RFI on LSP.
A build I finished last summer on wich I worked for some times.
The subject is the uberknown John Landers's "Big Beautiful Doll".

Timeframe of my build set it to before he was appointed full colonel, so no checkers on the wings, and victory board not complete yet.

In order to avoid varnish and silvering, all markings are painted, and the stencils are from HGW.


AM Used: 
Amur Flaps
Barracuda's cockpit stencils
GW external stencils
Yahu IP (was given a bit of relief with bezels)
Lifelike Decals. Used as ref to make the masks. The only actual decal used is the name on the canopy frame.

F-35A Italeri 1:32, As always, I made the model straight from the box. However, I did add some shadows and differences in the shade of color so that this one-color painting would be a bit more interesting.

I started with the Tamiya F-4J kit and got a little carried away with the aftermarket. There are flaws in the build that I am not happy with but visually I think it turned out pretty well. Went to my local monthly hobby night and on our display table was a Super Hornet. Long story short, it became mine for free!
The kit is 95% done, with the builder sort of giving up because of an issue with one wing (a bit lopsided) and not finishing the ordnance, particularly the AIM-9X missiles which were missing from the kit.
Took me about an hour, but I disassembled what I could, including the offending wing, but also all the undercarriage, canopy, seats, tails and nozzles. He didn't use very strong glue so it was relatively easy to manhandle apart.
The only extras on the kit were resin seats - which are too tall to close the canopy - and some photoetch for the cockpit. Rest is stock.
I'm clearing my bench to finish this, where my plan is to convert to wheels up, repaint and weather the heck out of it, providing a great testbed for my other naval aviation subjects. 
 
I shall call it the "Recycled Rhino"

I build Showtime 112, the mount of Cunningham’s first two kills, a while ago and also could not find outboard pylons. I later found they are only included in the Marines boxing on Sprue K.

Scale Aircraft Conversions. Gear sets are white metal, sometimes they tend to sag with weight. Details can sometimes be soft, seem to be direct copies of kit parts, warts and all.

I would love a aftermarked cockpit for this kit. 

I know it has been a while since I updated this thread. Some personal stuff came up and my modeling bench got put into storage for a while. I am back at it now. The cockpit is mostly done and I think it turned out very well. Hope you all enjoy.
