Slow progress this week. Working on getting the intakes glued together and sanding out the step on the inside. Finicky to say the least. But I think I am there. I also removed part of the round part of the duct. You can't see this part of the duct when installed and it makes painting much easier.

Here is my design for the intake interior as it turns and goes into the fuselage. Splitter plate is incorporated into the duct. I was going to design an engine front but you would not be able to see it....so not!

Tanks. This is my design. 3 parts glued together. I designed in a slot where the support/stiffener will be. Originally I printed the stiffener but it was so thin that it broke off. This is a better solution. Thin sheet plastic cut to size and glued in.

    Final version of the flaps.

Sc had not finished the wings when I requested them. The wing is solid, so I will have to cut out an opening and insert my own wheel wells. Not a pretty sight at first, but it all works out in the end. Rest assured that Sc will add all of the needed detail in this area.

Blue tape is cut to the exact shape of the flap well so that I can build the interior details.

    Some more items in-progress.

Flaps. First version, some improvements needed. Re-printing a little thicker. Thin prints tend to curl/warp. I will thin the print on sandpaper when complete.

Fuel tanks. Some small modifications still needed.

    Improved flaps printing now.

Here is a little more for today.

    Instrument panel and shroud.

Flaps. Grey copy is from SC. I will be scratching mine from sheet plastic with a 3d printed detail insert. Sc's part will, I am sure, contain tons of detail in its final form.

Exhaust nozzles. Outside part courtesy of Chad Summers with the interiors from.....Me.

Printing flap interiors as I type.

After a lot of contemplation I have decided to ditch the vac wings. SC's fuselage is so gorgeous I didn't want to graft on some very suspect vac wings. And I also didn't want to face the hassle of finding a way to attach them, install the wheel wheels and flap bays.

So I sent an email to SC and asked if he would send me his 3d printed wings. He said yes.

Now, he is still in the final design phase and these are not the finished product, but in my opinion will be much easier to work with.

Anyway, this is just the first look. Much work still lies ahead.

I have been working on designing and printing the cockpit instrument panel.

I am happy with this first version. But a few improvements are in order.

Fin cap light, sanded to shape.

Here are the horizontal tailplanes. Sc has come up with an ingenious design. There are 3 pins that hold both sides together and the whole thing pivots as well.

And here I have joined the 2 rear sections together. Putty will be sanded smooth when dry.

    A few small updates.

This is some clear sprue super glued to the tip of the tail. It will need to be sanded to shape.

Here is the first test fit of the Combat models windscreen and canopy. Not too bad actually. Careful sanding and a Future dip should help with the clarity.

And last for today, an overall look of the main components. Wings will be a challenge as the air intakes, as molded, are too small.

    That's it.  Dan

Ok. Time to get going on the Voodoo again.

Here is my work on adding camera windows. I have filed down the area around the window and have glued on a piece of clear sheet.

And a piece of clear sheet glued to the bottom of the nose for the camera windows on the bottom.

    Stay tuned.

Slowly working on the Voodoo nose and camera bays. Here you see the forward camera station in the nose. I installed a camera made out of plastic tubing and the glued on the window. It is just a thin piece of clear plastic glued onto the flat face on the nose. It will be trimmed to shape.

Next are some 3d printed cameras, fresh off of the printer and in situ.

And last for today is my first version of the main wheel bays.

    A small update.

I have added a small square hole in the aft end of the speed brake well to accommodate the actuation cylinder.

Here are the exhaust cans. This was designed by my friend Chad. Apparently he had been working on a Voodoo in the past and offered me a few goodies. He also sent me the drop tanks and the intakes. I had to resize Chads exhaust cans to fit the fuselage by a positive 12%.

And some components of the tail.

    That's all, Dan
