That color scheme has been on my radar for a long time!  Not the easiest to reproduce, but so cool and interesting!
 
 
 

I have indeed binned many a kit, and find the act to be thoroughly therapeutic.
 
For some reason, on some projects, the kit doesn't come together as planned, or it doesn't look the way I had imagined, and my passion for the project quickly drops off.  When it doesn't come back after a period of years, I tend to throw it out, largely to make room for newer, more pertinent stuff.
 
I do strip the box of interesting parts/decals/bits first, however, and bag them with a label indicating what kit they came from.
 
You never know what interesting little accessories will be useful down the road.
 
 

The finished camouflage scheme is very nice and accurate to the original.

This kind of camouflage not yet finished but already happy, I still have some left to finish. 
 

Most painting is done. Just a few touchups. I have tried to weather it, hope it doesn't look to bad.

I just watched a few up to date trailers.
 
It looks to me more like "Midway" (the new one) or "Pearl Harbor" than "Band of Brothers" or "The Pacific."
 
It's worth noting HBO dumped the project, which has me worried.
 
The special effects look fake and computerized.
 
I will watch EVERY SECOND of the show mind you!   But I am smelling a major letdown already.

My little piece of wisdom about airbrushing, learned over many years, is that the raw quality of an airbrush is not nearly as important as having multiple airbrushes, or multiple needles for a single airbrush.
 
I.E., I would rather have 2 cheap airbrushes with .15 and .5 or .6 needle sizes, than 1 "good" airbrush with a .3 needle, which is kind of lost in the middle of the useable range.  Not fine enough for Luftwaffe camouflage work, not really big enough for large areas, priming, or gloss coats and clear coating.
 
I find that people don't really talk about this, but needle size is hugely influential in the quality of your airbrushing, depending on what you are doing.
 
Keep in mind I do all kinds of modeling with all kinds of different airbrush needs.

I might need to do fine camouflage work on a 1/72 aircraft, or lay down gorgeous mirror-like gloss coats on a motorbike or car model, and everything in between.
 
 
 
 

I have Tamiya paint combo recipes for most of the RLM colors.
 
My chart shows Tamiya XF-19 "Sky Gray" straight up as the closest Tamiya equivalent to RLM 77.

Buying and selling was daily business in China when menfolk in my neighbourhood were learning to shave with napped flint.
 
From direct experience I find some LSP members sell unwanted kits at bargain prices. Great! Perhaps non LSP members do too. Who guaranteed that overpriced, unsold Wingnut Wings kits must be bankable treasure forever?

I thought "That's an odd scale for something like this...why not scale it so you could display a Zero with the Akagi deck?"
 
Then I thought: "Oh my gosh!  They are going to release a 1/35 Zero or something like that!"
 
And here is the proof!

Many years ago, the big hobby store we enjoyed in my home town in upstate NY had the Airfix 1/24 Stuka hanging from the ceiling in desert color scheme, along with most of the other Airfix 1/24 kits.
 
The Stuka was probably my favorite of the lot!  It looks so cool, and my God, it is HUGE.
 
I'm gonna have to get one of these.

This is a great model made even better by the in flight display you have created.  Wow! 
 
I wish more modelers would display their aircraft in flight; they look so boring and often awkward sitting on the ground on their landing gear.   Kind of like a Formula One race car sitting on jack stands in the garage with its wheels off!

This is the model of one of many G.3s serving in Bydgoszcz Pilot School in the years 1921-1927. The example 15-18 was photographed around 1926.
The lovely CSM model had to be modified to the Polish post-war version which most striking difference was in the aileron lateral control replacing the original wing warping - I have done it basing on a couple of blurred photos and unconfirmed scale drawings from several sources, let me call it an educated guess. 
The decals with numerals and masks for Polish national markings were provided by Mr. Decal.
All in all a very pleasing project ended in a result, which I deem differs substantially from many other great builds of this great CSM kit. I hope you will enjoy these couple of photos.
 

Here I present my build of the Fokker DR.I #425/17 in its early days.
This Meng kit is well detailed and mine presented additional work due to mis-aligned mold halves, in addition to the usual warped wings and broken fuselage panel.
