Fantastic build, and i really enjoyed following along. Looking forward to your next one, Nick -
Thanks Iain - More options!! They do look quite good though... Juggernut, do you have any pics of your paper belts? Sounds interesting! Nick

Hi, i'm looking at starting another Tamiya 1/32 build very soon, i have the A6M2 and the Spitfire MKix to chose between. Just gathering aftermarket, and i am considering seatbelts. HGW ones look good, but are not cheap. Eduard ones are a bit cheaper but are they good enough? Or i could of course use the kit ones. The Spitfire ones i might get away with, but i'm not so sure about the paper Zero ones. Just trying to keep the budget low (the less i spend on aftermarket the more i have to spend on new kits, and i'm eyeing up a Tamiya Corsair..) Thanks (and sorry for rambling.) Nick

Fantastic work, that paint finish is excellent. This is inspiring me to drag my Tamiya Zero out of the stash! Nick

Thats a work of art! Nick

Thanks for sharing Bill, some fantastic photos there. I couldnt do 'too much' ww2 stuff whilst there (it was a family holiday, and while the wife and kids appreciate it all they could only deal with so much..), but i got to see what i wanted. But there is so much more, which is why i'm planning to go back and spend a bit more time. When we went to Pegasus bridge the sat nav sent us down a narrow dirt road, but i'm glad it did because we found the Hermonville war cemetery. It was really out of the way, and it makes me wonder just how long you would you have to spend in France just to find all of the memorials and cemeteries. Nick

I will certainly be sparing a thought on the 6th June. Going there has really put it into perspective, the scale of the whole thing is almost beyond comprehension. Another particular highlight for me was visiting Pegasus bridge. Having read a lot about the Oxford and Bucks regiment mission to take it in the early hours of 6th June '44 it was a privelige to visit the museum and the actual bridge itself. I agree with Roy, they were heroes to the last.

Just got back from a week in Normandy, where i visited (for the first time) the D Day landing beaches, and the cemeteries. It was quite an emotional week for me, as i had been wanting to pay my respects to the fine young men that fought, and died, for what they believed in. The most mind blowing place was the American memorial and cemetery though. I walked along the coast side path, turned the corner and the site of 9,387 perfectly aligned and immaculate headstones literally took my breath away. I was with my 8 year old son, and it was a moment i know i will never forget. Just wanted to share that, Thanks guys. Nick

Thanks guys. Kev, i think it was just stripped to be honest, hence why the top parts were left camo to act as anti-glare. There arent many photo's of this plane kicking around so i just went with what i could find. High speed silver would have been a lot easier though! I used Mr Metal Aluminiun, brushed straight over the bare plastic. Looks very convincing if done right, only problem is its VERY delicate. Multiple coats of clear coat still wont completely seal it so you get silver everywhere if you arent careful. Alclad for next time i think.. Maru, i have the Spitfire Royal class box set, so the next two will be - And for a bit of fun - Thanks again for the encouragement guys, it means a lot. Nick

Thanks Maru - I had great fun with it, and i'm looking forward to building another. Nick

Just finished up my Eduard Spitfire, and overall i'm fairly pleased with it. I'm still a beginner at this game really, but i do feel like each build is better than the last one. The kit was very nice to build, a bit fussy perhaps in places but any troubles i had i'm putting down to my own lack of skills... I tried to get a patchy finish with the natural metal, still not sure if i pulled it off or not..... Hope you like it, i've got another 2 to build next (bagged the Royal Class set) so will probably do a green/grey camo and a desert one. Nick

Looks fantastic. I WILL be adding one of these to my stash before long - At first i wasnt really interested but there have been far too many awesome builds on here for me to ignore it any longer. Thanks for sharing, Nick
-
Now i like that! Very nice build, the foiling looks great. Nick

Looks great! My favourite jet aswell.... I'm always on the look out for a Tamiya F16, the cost of admission is a bit rich for me, but maybe i'll bag a bargain one day. Nick
-
Now that i like! Excellent fit and finish, the weathering is just right, it looks awesome. Well done, Nick
-
Looking good Peter, and looking forward (as always) to your next updates. Nick
-
Good work so far, i especially like your cockpit weathering. I have one of these working its way up the build list, so i'm closely following along. Thanks for sharing, Nick

My thoughts are with you, and everything crossed. Nick

USAAF Spitfire PR XI- Tamiya w/ Ali Cat conversion kit
Nick32 replied to BloorwestSiR's topic in Foreign or Captured
Great build. always love seeing a Tamiya Spitfire being born. NIck -
It does strike me as a shame that us in the UK find it so difficult to buy ZM stuff at a decent price (other than from Telford of course). As already mentioned, buying from abroad ends up being so expensive that i just don't bother. I really want a Raiden, but i'm not willing to pay over the odds for it, especially as Zoukei Mura kits dont get raving reviews. (I don't mind paying Tamiya prices, if it builds like a Tamiya...)

It was made to be built - I vote build it! Nick

Planet Models Vought XF5U-1 Flying Pancake, circa 1947
Nick32 replied to ericg's topic in Ready for Inspection
Wow! Fantastic finish, absolutely flawless... And i didnt even know that plane existed, so thanks for enlightening me! NIck -
Looking forward to following along. Nick

Sure do look good. Not sure if i would choose a ZM kit over a Tamiya though. I really want to try one (the Raiden really appeals) but from reading build reviews they do seem to have their problems? Not trying to start a ZM v Tamiya war here by the way, just my observations. Nick ps. Having said that, their figures look stunning.
