I just don't get it.  No one forces members to read or follow a post.   Why is it felt that it's such a horrible thing to have some thread drift.  Look at the count of views for those posts, obviously a (very) large number of people were following this thread and participating and yet the mods decided that this was unacceptable and locked it?   I think at minimum, the decision should have included feedback from the OP.   If the OP felt his thread was being hijacked, that's one thing.  If the mods just unilaterally decided that were going to lock it, that's something else.    Leave the nuclear option off the table and save it for threads that devolve into politics, personal shots, etc.   My $0.02.

I totally agree with you.  I find the mod's heavy-handed approach to thread drift disappointing.   Giving the demographics on this site and the inevitable decline in the number of members, I would think any discussion that people are passionate about would be welcomed and encouraged instead of being locked down.   As long as the discussion remains civil, let it go wherever it goes.     I recall another site that that tried to regulate posting by locking threads and bouncing members, it's pretty much on life support these days, some forums haven't had a post in months.    SMH...

I think the 109 is unrivalled for its choice of camo finishes, whereas Spitfires tend to be green & brown, which isn't the most striking of paint schemes. I love the famous 109 in North African camo

I'll be one that certainly goes for a nice K-4, whereas I haven't (and won't) bother with the Spitfires.

Of course they did! It will spawn another 50 page speculation thread that will end in dog fart jokes or get shut down once someone mentions WNW

    Hello,
Some photos of my last finished project. Trumpeter MIG-29. Painted in a Ukranian digital camo scheme.
Paint used was MRP & I used DN masks for the digital camo.
Added Quinta cockpit set & Reskit HARM missiles & adapter rails. Added wires & pipes to the landing gear & some details added to cockpit.
Thanks for looking & all comments welcome.

A happy ending to this model’s story - I’ve just returned from a fantastic trip up to the wonderful museum at Old Buckenham, in Norfolk, having donated my model to the wonderful curator, Jim. And it’s already proudly on display!

At least it no longer resides in my loft where it’s never seen and has gone to a new home…

Well, from where I sit AND speaking only for me, it looks as if 1/35th aircraft are here to stay. I just got their Kate and it's a cracking nice kit and the fit ain't too shabby either. 2 things to consider, A: the Revell He-111 isn't in production anymore and haven't read or heard that it will be anytime soon. B: I'm not about to miss out on a nice kit just because it's the wrong[?] scale. If that were the case then I wouldn't have a lot of 48th stuff on the shelf and in the stash[ and there's a lot] Currently I'm not in the market for a He-111 but if I get itch for one ,I won't hesitate to pull the trigger on this. Like I've said before I got 48th next to 32nd and I' ve got space set up for 35th if needed.

I am not particularly beholden to 1/32 as a scale; if Border and others produce good quality aircraft in 1/35 I will probably buy some.

On the contrary, if it widens the range of large scale kits, makes the hobby more popular and stimulates demand, then bring it on. Larger aircraft become untenable in 1:32 as your spray booth is a fixed size. The 1:32 Lancaster looks incredible but how do you paint it and then what do you do with it ?

I think the 111 looks fantastic. Well done !

Revell has/had the 1:144 scale round bridge Fletcher for years.  The premium edition comes with a full Pontos set of etched and turned brass.  These are my end results of the premium edition kit.

Greetings!  A couple of weeks ago, I was able to take the flight of a lifetime with our very own, world renown Pete Fleischmann!  About a year ago, after obtaining my PPL, Pete offered a flight with him in an L-39 Albatros.  At first I thought he was kidding, what are the odds that someone would offer something that amazing?  I hesitated at first, then asked if he was serious.  OF COURSE! he said.  It really did take me a day or so to understand the offer he had laid on the table.  How could I say no to something like that?  We chatted on the phone about it, and then began the task of finding a day we were both available for the flight and the weather Gods allowed it.  After one scrub in October, we were able to make it happen on the 17th of November.  Our flight was at Code 1 Aviation in Rockford, IL in an L-39 Albatros "red 21".   First of all, the facility and people at Code 1 did an absolutely AMAZING job of making me feel welcome in their facility, I can't thank them all enough for that.  But just when I thought I had met some of the greatest people out there, I got to Pete face to face for the first time.  Besides being an amazing pilot, he is not only humble to a fault and one of the most personable people I have ever met.  After briefing for our flight, we took off on a beautiful November afternoon for the greatest flight I have ever experienced.  I got some stick time in the jet, and loved every second of it.  To top it all off, we when we returned to Rockford we did a few "fighter breaks" to land and then it was time to call it a day.  The sun was just setting, and the view from the cockpit was absolutely unbelievable.

Pete- I can't thank you, Lambo, and Buck and the staff at Code 1 enough for truly one of the greatest days of my life and a flight I will never forget.  I'm already trying to sell off a kidney to go and do it again...

The general consensus is that it’s most likely a scam. There is no reliable information that the molds have been acquired by anyone and, if they were, it’s highly unlikely that some random seller on eBay would have first call on newly released WNW kits.

I’d avoid if I were you.

I think folks here are forgetting an aircraft's appearance. Tomcat..... looks amazing. The F-35..... looks like a big, dull nothing, IMHO.

I have no doubt that one F-35 could take on six F-14's and come out smiling, but that's not the point, for me. Just to look at them, there's NO competition.

I will now brace myself for a deluge of "How dare you!" comments.

Here is my finished Border 1/35 Fw 190A-6 painted in the markings of Walter Nowotny's Double Chevron. It was built mostly out-of-the-box since I couldn't find much in the way aftermarket for this kit at the time. Major markings were painted using custom cut masks.  The kit was slightly modified to depict the inner landing gear door configuration. I left the upper gun cowling and two engine cowlings unglued so that the gun compartment and some of the engine can be viewed but the trade-off is that the joints aren't as tight as they could be if they were glued.
