  1. There is a punch and die set the name of which escapes me but does anyone know where I can get one? Thanks Bud
  2. It will be great to see how and with what you work your wash magic!! Have a goodtime and travel safely Bud
  3. Not much new, a few more decals from Roy S and glued the left sidewall to the fuse. Now for the dry fitting!
  4. By the way Wolf, I literally can't wait for your P-51 build. Based on what you have accomplished on the "Big Spit" I am sure it will be beyond over the top leaving no words to describe it!!!
  5. Cpig, that is nice work. Really like the front office! I am right behind you with mine so I will definitely be following your lead... Bud
  6. Wolf, I have read your Big Spit build from end to end and I really like the subtle weathering technique you use (not to mention the detail, which is, as everyone agrees, way over the top beautiful). I am going to try your recipe on some extra parts and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the help. Bud
  7. Thanks for the help guys...I will give SB a shout. Bud
  8. Not a bit John. I prefer the aluminum finish as well, was just going by Tam's instructions as I hadn't (and still haven't) done any research. Research is something else I am gonna have to get better at. This is supposed to end up as Petie 2nd so I will try to find out which combination it had. Thanks, Bud
  9. Thanks for the kind words guys. I guess I need to state my goals for this build. I do not intend to ever try to accomplish a world class build such as Wulf's Spit elsewhere on this forum. I just won't live long enough and am short on that kind of skill, ability or patience. I do want to build cockpits that are very detailed, such as Roy Sutherland's for example. I suppose my weakest area is paint in general and weathering in particular. Gearbay's are cool but I am not a engine bay, gun bay, dive brake king of guy. I built the merlin for practice and will most likely detail it to some degree, but it will be covered up. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and assistance... Bud
  10. To be honest, westhering has intimidated me. I keep telling myself that this bird is intended to be a learning experience and that I am going to do at least one more. Based on this and your encouragement, I'll try some weathering and see where it goes. Thanks for your nice words and help Bud
  11. I know the Tam P-51 has been beat to death but it is my first build in many years and I would like to hear your thoughts, likes, dislikes and areas where I could improve and how. This build will take a long time, so please be patient. I found this forum after the build had started so some of the things I have learned from you guys came to late for this time but there is still a bit to do. the following pics will bring you up to present...and I am no photographer. I know that not having seen these assy's go together makes it difficult to critique and I will show and explain the steps from this point on. Please don't be shy with comments, questions or positive criticism. Thanks guys Bud
  12. I think if we put the exhaust on that puppy we can fire it right up!!! Great work, what neat detail and you are doing it sooooo fast. Bud
  13. Thanks Tim. We moved here in 1992 and love it but it has changed in that time. Most of the westside cotton fields are gone and the northeast homes reach to Mc Combs with the eastside well past Loop 375 (Joe Battle) and Ft Bliss is growing like wildfire. Progress?? Bud
  14. Tried your formula in that Model Masters is all that is available here locally and the decals look absolutely painted on. In my experiments, I applied Revell and Tammy decals over multiple raised panel lines and made it as difficult as possible for the decal and it worked perfectly. Thanks again, Bud
  15. Thanks Brian. Do you have contact info for them?
  16. Who makes Micro set and sol? More important I guess is where can I get it? Thanks Bud
  17. Being an easy touch for P-51's, I pre ordered one. Building the Tamiya right now and it will be interesting to see how the ZM stacks up. Can't be any better (hope it is even almost as good) but I am curious about the skeleton/skin combo. Gonna build another Tam anyway...
  18. Absolutely beyond improvement!!! Anyone want to buy my G6 kit?
  19. Thanks Maru, I have 3 kids that live in the Metroplex area and they all came thru ok, thank God
  20. I could not agree more. I spent 3 weeks watching this forum before I joined and was really impressed with the skills, willingness to help and support each other as well as newbies (such as myself) with even the most basic questions. Hats off to a great group! Bud
  21. Mant thanks Ads and Brian. Time to do some experimenting on some pieces out of the spares box. Bud
