    Hi All,

This is Italeri's 104 with Reskit exhaust, Master pitot, Eduard wheels and seat. A few additions here and there but otherwise a straightforward build.
The kit has its pros and cons and I think others have already given enough feedback about it.
This plane was based in Leeuwarden (Netherlands) during the late 70' - early 80'. "D-8115" markings are paint otherwise I used the (top-notch) decals from the box.
Paint is AK Real. Photos taken outside so light varies a little bit...
    Cheers

So, the Gaspatch Spandaus' arrived today, and are they ever gorgeous. 3D printed, and just amazingly detailed. As far as I'm aware, this is the first Gaspatch item I've ever bought, but it certainly won't be my last.

    Hello everyone

This is my JU87G 1/32 scale from hasegawa. It took me 9 months and I used a whole bunch of aftermarket items which I will list below. All stencils and insignias have been masked and airbrushed using the excellent 1manarmy set.

Aires resin cockpit and resin wheels
Quickboost spinner , prop , exhausts and antennae
Master metal gun barrels for 3.7cm cannon and mg81 guns , Master pitot tube
    HGW fabric seat belts
    Eduard Exterior PE set
1manarmy masking set for all stencils and insignias
    Yahu instrument panel

I added some extra plumbing for the gun assembly as well as cut out the plastic wing lights and added clear resin nav lights which were polished.

It’s not as good as some of the masterpieces here but I hope to improve for the next project.

Whew, after a week of work the engine is finally complete. A lot of scratch building and correcting Trumpeter's mistakes, which were many. The air intake manifolds were added and the exhaust manifolds move to the other side of the cylinders where they belong. The exhaust manifold has not yet been added. The propeller shaft is scratch built as is the accessory section/carburetor.

1:18 scale kit from the nineties, comparable to 21st Century Toys. Looooong OOP. Price for a kit - if you can locate one - around 2.000 USD. Large kit, indeed.

    G’day All
This  one is from a few years ago, but I don’t think I ever posted it here.
Its the Kittyhawk P-39Q converted to an RAF Airacobra 1,  by way of using Mastercaster fishtail exhausts. I had planned to replace the kit 37mm with a 20mm and leave the gun bay open, but in the end could not satisfy myself with the details
The kit had a few issues fit wise, nothing too major, but from memory the wings needed shimming.
Markings we’re painted on using a mask set from Maketar for the SH kit.

Theres a few flaws in the build, but it remains one of my favourites.
    thanks for looking

Gday All. My latest LSP off the bench
Fly's Hurricane, in this case their IId finished as a Desert Air Force machine from 6 SQN
Not the easiest build or best kit, but sadly - given the dearth of 32 scale kits- probably the best available at the moment.
In fact after finishing this kit, I sold all the other Fly Hurricanes I had the stash
Im really hoping Revell releases their promised IIb
Anyway, its finished with SMS paints, all markings are painted on, using masks scanned from the decal sheet.
I replaced the kit canopy with a vac form so that it sat properly when slid back.  The kit gun barrels were also replaced with brass tube.
One good thing is the kit contains parts to enable a MkIV to be built, as well as drop tanks which will come in handy when someone eventually releases a decent IIC
    Thanks for looking

My recently completed Swordfish. Built pretty much out of the box but with some Eduard pe to augment the kit parts. I had great difficulty trying to use the kit's rigging and gave up in the end and resorted to using steel wire. I decided quite early into the build that I would display the model with the wings folded, primarily to save space.

    Hi everyone.
I built Mitsubishi J2M2 Raiden prototype (Hasegawa 1/32)

The color scheme is a bit unusual, but Japanese prototypes and training aircraft were painted this color. Although I do not often build WW2 aircraft, I built this kit because I am living near the former airfield where this plane was tested for development.

Raiden (雷電) means thunderbolt, coincidentally, American and Japanese thunderbolts both look fat, and I like these looking. I look forward to building American thunderbolt as well in the future.

I built this out of the box, just putting a lot of riveting on the fuselage. The fitting of parts is generally very good, and it’s easy to build.

I hope you guys enjoy it.

I don't crumple mine, but fit the buckles and such while the etch is still on the fret, I glue them down on the painted seats, posing them as I go. I use Cemedine, a Japanese clear canopy glue, or CYA.  Once on they get a clear coat, and I use oil paints with a little Winsdor & Newton Liquin Original medium added. It speeds drying time and makes for the smoothest, perfectly fading effects. Dark colors for the shadows, and pale buff or gray for the highlights. When dry give a flat coat and touch up the hardware with a silver Prismacolor pencil.

I'm with you Iain, a lot of the kits that I build are not exactly Tamiya quality but I am just grateful that someone has kitted a subject ignored by the majors, there is always AM and if desperate modelling skills.
The Vampire is not on my list  of wants but if it was I would have bought it regardless of the negative comments, I do have an Infinity SB2C in the stash in spite of the challenges because I want a kit of that subject..

    Hello!

I finished this about one year ago. I used the Trumpeter kit, Eduard PE and Quickboost exhausts (as far as I remember). The figures are slightly converted ICM figures, backdated to 1941  (no shoulder straps in the soviet army till 1943) and equipped with resin heads. The crows are from Preiser. This project was big fun and there were no issues with the kit as far a I remember. The markings were sprayed using Montex masks. I hope you like it!

Whitey reacted to IainM in 1/32 Fly Hurricane Mk. 2C Night Fighter (Done)
Work is progressing with the Hurricane......being almost akin to a limited run kit, there are no locating pins, quite a bit of flash, etc etc. So quite a bit of time has being spent on trying to figure out how to get it all to fit together, reworking some parts, a lot of grinding and sanding, test fitting, more test fitting, looking at the parts and how they go together to work out the best gluing sequence when the time comes, etc.
A LOT of deviation from the instruction booklet...if you follow it to the letter, you won't be able to get some parts fitted.
The plastic is quite soft, but somehow quite brittle at the same time, definitely something to get used to.

That being said....the surface detail on this beast is some of the best I've ever seen. The raised and recessed detail is quite something to behold.....I'm going to have to be very careful gluing the main surfaces together in order to minimize sanding.

The interior detail is quite sparse as given in the kit, but with me having the access door shut, there's not a lot you'll be able to see anyway with only the hood open. That cockpit must have been quite cramped.
There is a lot of scope for SB more details, but I'm not going down that rabbit-hole too much on this trip

Above and below are indications of the grinding and cutting I've had to do to get the fuselage with cockpit fitted, to fit on top of the resin wheel bay and the required cutting of a recess in the lower fuselage piece. Probably around 4mm of material had to go....
I also had to close up the portions of the well with JB Weld where the extension struts are located, I'll open them up again once I fit the two parts together - the recesses on the plastic and resin parts didn't match up.
If you hold up the resin well to the light, you can just about read through it - but I had to be very careful of where I relieved heights, as I didn't want to create weak areas. Luckily, the outboard areas where the LG are located required very little work, so should be nice and strong!

Below, I've just opened the wing ejection ports and blanked them off on the inside. The radiator intake has been worked on as well to get rid of those pesky seam lines...

    Now the cockpit framing below....
Soft plastic, no locating pins, lots of flash - so once everything was cleaned up to a degree, it was a case of drilling, pinning, test fitting, over and over again. But this is the kind of stuff I love about modelling - figuring things like this out and engineering a solution. Love it!

Still need to clean up those plastic burrs with a bit of Tamiya extra thin...

The resin seat that came with the kit is great, but the attachment points to the cockpit structure was very dodgy, wouldn't have survived the slightest flex. So I've used telescoping/sliding brass tubing (.9mm and .7mm) to replace the plastic kit cross-members. One attached to the seat, and the inside tube joins the walls of the cockpit framing together. That gives me the option to adjust the seat position once the cockpit is installed.
The height adjustment lever is a SB piece using leftover PE pieces and brass tubing, the kit doesn't include it. Quite a prominent addition IMO

    Cockpit framing with set installed.....

Another piece that I totally reworked was the control column - you can see the kit part on the left. By the time I would have finished removing the mould lines, there would have been nothing left...so I made a new one from brass tubing. Bit of wiring, lead foil. The grip has a very thin stippled layer of Mr Surfacer 1000 on it, recreates the almost rubberized finishes I've seen.

Last image is a couple of odds and ends. HGW belts, Brengun gunsight (kit resin part was a bit over-scale IMO) and the rudder pedals

    Cheers, Iain
