The cockpit assembled and painted. I eventually decided not to use the MDC instrument panel, as I will show later.

I thought the Eduard IP was more realistic in appearance. These were the colored PE panels where each gauge ring was etched and colored separately - the panel alone took hours to assemble.

Moving on to the rest of the cockpit. The cockpit floor was impressively detailed. It is a shame that MDC does not make these cockpits anymore.

I painted the starboard sidewall based on what I thought was accurate, though I question some of my decisions now.

    Hi all,

I wanted to share with you a kit I built in 2007 when I was 18 y/o. I had read the Blonde Knight of Germany a couple years before that and was inspired by Hartmann's story.

I'll post this as a WIP, since I took a handful of WIP pictures at the time.

The process of getting into medical school, then completing it, and now residency has kept me away from producing meaningful work in the last decade or so, but as residency reaches a more stable and predictable point, I am hoping to get back into the hobby meaningfully. I have been following fondly all of the amazing work on here over the last few years. Any and all comments and critiques are appreciated.

    The build:
    HAS Bf 109G-14
    MDC Bf 109G Cockpit
    MDC Bf 109 G Spinner
    MDC Bf 109G wheels
    Eduard Luftwaffe PE Seatbelts
    EagleParts Bf109G spinner
    EagleParts Bf109G supercharger intake
    EagleParts Bf109G radiator housing
    Eduard Bf 109G instrument panel
    Eduard Bf 109G exterior
    Eaglecals Bf 109G decals
    Gunze Acrylic paint

Construction began with the cockpit. IIRC, the MDC cockpit was very high quality, and was not difficult to install.

You did a great job on yours. I know what I and many want is a Tamiya Corsair level P-38 kit.
i don’t mind fixing things,  but I get tired of having to do that with virtually every 1/32 kit to some degree.  Tamiya,  ZM, Wnw, and some others are just fun to build as nothing else is needed and nothing to fix.  I say this as an aftermarket resin guy!

    happy Memorial Day everyone,

Yeah, I was almost going to refer to those things as spiders!  Look what else turned up...

Missing part DOES show up after I've finished the replacement.  I'd swap it out but I did a pretty good job of gluing so I'm not sure I can get the replacement part off.  I can hear the carpet monster snickering away.

It's not the part, it's the use of their trademarked logo. They could just give permission without compensation based on free advertising, but lawyers.

And god knows Goodyear needs every penny they can squeeze out of model builders.

I'm still stuck on the center wing assembly including the wheel wells.  I DID find out that the closed landing gear doors will make perfect masks for the wheel wells when it comes time to paint.  Amazing fit on those!

A couple of views of the area that I'm stalled on.  I've fit the landing gear doors into place.

There is wiring to be added, of which some I want to connect to those door actuating rods that you see.  I normally like to attaching any wiring before painting.  But the wheel wells would be much easier to paint and weather before assembly.  I can't install the wiring before the wheel wells are assembled.  So these thoughts keep rotating in my head, over and over again.

Not all G-14AS a/c were recycled form earlier variant. Later a/c were a result of trying to standardize parts though the variants, for example I have photos of a standard G-14 with a larger oil tank and with large wing bulges. I hesitate to say "all" in reference to any 109's or 190's made/recycled during the years 44-45.

The above was to help clarify, or simplify, the G-10/G-14AS subject so one of our members wouldn't be thrown into the cauldron of late war modifications without a line to grab.

    Cheers,
    D.B.

In my view, at the moment the best MTT or WNF G-10 is made by taking the nose, from the rear end of the elliptical fuselage bulges forward, of the Hasegawa G-10 or K-4 and grafting it to either the Has G-14 or Revell G-6 rear fuselage.
