Hey Richard, I'll be draggin' this kit down from the SOD as soon as I finish my 109D.

When I started mine loooong ago I did a drawing re the dihedral (or lack of) for the

    Hurricane. Hope it helps.

    pDYtn1V.jpg

The 2 red lines are flat and 90 degrees off the vertical centerline. There's no dihedral

until past the landing gear. Looking good so far .

p.s. only the red lines are mine, I didn't draw the Hurricane.

has anyone proposed a correction for the kit dihedral?

One trick you can use to hide the edge is spray Gloss Clear over the area and sand with very fine sanding paper/sponge. You can see when the blending is complete when the gloss around the edge is gone. It's an old custom car paint trick and it works.

Some guys paint the insignias on first followed by color and they swear by it.

I do insignia first. Tamiya fine white primer thinned heavily from the small square jar. Then mask and apply rest

Actually, I have both an Evolution and an Infinity, which use the same pieces, and it's clear with the Mark I eyeball that the air caps have different size openings.

I have both a Paasche TG (0.66mm) and a Creos 290 (0.50mm) which I use for primers depending upon the amount of primer to be painted.

I figured. The airflow has to be proportional around the nozzle tip itself. I went ahead and bought a needle/nozzle/aircap set.

    thanks all

Have a look here. I believe the Needle, Nozzle, and Air Cap need to all match.

Harder and Steenbeck parts for Infinity (spraygunner.com)

(I've no connection to SG, but I have purchased there.)

Thank you sir. My interpretation of the serial numbers indicates the same air cap works for 0.15 and 0.2 mm combos while a separate air cap is required for the 0.4 mm nozzle.

  5. I currently have a 0.15 mm needle but am finding I need something larger to paint Tamiya’s fine primer out of the bottle.

I am planning to obtain the 0.4 mm needle and nozzle.

My question is: do I also need to buy a new aircap specific to the 0.4 mm needle/nozzle or can I just buy the needle and nozzle separately, using the aircap that came with the 0.15 mm?

Based on my understanding of how an airbrush works, my answer to my own question would be yes.

The Bf 109 G-14 flown by Hartmann in January 1945 in Hungary is relatively well documented. Here are some photos:

Here is the aircraft in flight.

Here is the same image enlarged. Note the short tail.

And here is a photo from the internet. Note the battery box behind the headrest and the C3 fuel triangle, indicating a G-14.

Never saw the one flying but had seen the ones on the ground many years ago. Compelling evidence indeed. Thanks Radu!

If you want a HK 1/32 Lanc, I would be tempted to hold back until Border release theirs (assuming it goes ahead of course) as I am sure there will be a (relative) glut of HK ones dumped on the market to subsidise purchases of the Border / WNW one.

It happens with lots of kits just like happened with the Z-M  P-51 and HK  Mosquitos when modellers learnt that Tamiya were doing both subjects in the same scale.

    ZM’s P-51 was released before Tamiya’s?

One other optical effect caused by the thicker "armoured" glass is refraction. This causes the glass to behave in the same way as a periscope. This is best described in this video about the armoured glass used on the FW 190:

It’s a fascinating effect. He notes the thickness of the glass to be 1.5x the original; I wonder what the view was actually like in the period thickness
