  3. 3x Trumpeter P-38s: one in progress as an L-5, one in progress as an H model, and one unstarted. 2x 109Gs (one new Revell, one Hasegawa) Only one of everything else, total about 30 kits. T
  4. Amen to that!! Such incredible skills, especially considering they were before 3D printing.
  5. That looks great! I doubt I could tell you more than already figured out on your own!
  6. I've had good luck so far with postimage.cc. Copy the direct link, drop it in the message box, and boom, the photo is there. Does imageshack have a way to copy a direct link or hotlink?
  7. I usually attend this, but not sure I'm going this year. Too much on the plate this month to afford the gas and the hotel, and I have nothing new to enter.
  8. No one would do that, surely?
  9. That would rock, but I'll say it again....P-38 early!!!! This would be me...
  10. Your brush skills are very impressive, my friend!! Tim
  11. I'm gonna have to check that FB group out. I keep my FB account mostly for things like this. I am also a member of the 474th FG group, as my friend Lee (who just turned 100!!) was in the 428th FS unit during WW2. Learn some pretty cool stuff that way!! T
  12. 228296 does not fit the format, so it has to be 42-28296. Here is the official log that confirms what Barracuda shows for Haul'in Ass (1st): (I assume McWhorter was not flying it when it was lost) 42-28296 (MSN 1958) 10th Depot Repair Squadron, 10th Air Depot Group, 9th AF Service Command, Villacoublay [A-42], France; Damaged 4Nov44 taxying at Villacoublay; 386th FS, 365th FG, 9th AF; Damaged by flak during a dive bombing attack on an armored column at Much, 17 miles NE of Bonn, Germany January 23, 1945. The aircraft headed home and reached allied lines where the pilot bailed out rather than risk a forced landing, his aircraft crashing at Erkelenz, Germany. Leaving the aircraft, the pilot was swept back by the slipstream and slammed into the vertical stabilizer. On reaching the ground he was taken by GIs to a field hospital but died of his injuries enroute. MACR 13332. 43-3446 corresponds to a B-25D-30 that converted to an F-10. 44-33446 does come up as a P-47D-30-RA, official entry here: 44-33446 (MSN 4407) 365th FG, 9th AF; to Türk Hava Kuvvetleri as serial 7002; 9 Alay/1 Bl; WFU 41-9791 comes up empty, and I suspect is far too early a number for a P-47D, so it must be 44-19791, which comes up as a P-47D-28-RE, official entry: 44-19791 (MSN 5199) War Bond aircraft; "Scarsdale Comet" - One of more than 100 P-47 Thunderbolts purchased through War Bonds by residents of Scarsdale, NY; 386th FS [D5-X], 365th FG, 9th AF; "Mississippi Rebel III" Note that this plane was assigned to the same FS as McWhorter, so it's possble that this plane was renamed as Haul'In Ass II when 8296 was lost while being flown by another pilot. Bottom line, I think either 3446 or 9791 could be the right one, so if your other sources confirm 3446, that lines up well enough for me. I can find no other references for any P-47Ds named Haul'in Ass or flown by a pilot named McWhorter in Joe's DB, but feel free to look for yourself: https://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_serials/usafserials.html Tim PS: Thanks for giving me something to do at work that's more interesting than work.....
  13. Good news, new post on FB says Harv is awake and improving enough to be talking on the phone!!
  14. FYI - Heard from Ernie on LSM and Bev on FB that Harv has had a setback. He had gall bladder surgery yesterday, which went fine, but then something went wrong afterward and he coded. They got him back but he had a seizure and is now in a coma as of the last info. Tim
  15. Skyway Model Shop in Renton, just south of Seattle, is my favorite. Lots of old and new stuff, but his prices can be a tad high. It's the only non-chain store I'm aware of in the area. There is also a HobbyTown in Tukwila, not far from Skyway. HT is not my fave, but the last time I was there a couple years ago, they did have a decent stock and lots of supplies. Those are the only ones I'm aware of, and that I've been to. As long as your in the area, I would highly recommend going here: https://flyingheritage.org/. The collection is awesome! Most of it started out as Doug Champlin's collection, then Paul Allen bought it and started FHC. After Allen died a few years ago, it was bought by one of the Walton family (Walmart), and finally re-opened last year. I would quite seriously prefer to visit here than any hobby shop anywhere. I still haven't seen the Mosquito, the Churchill tank, or the Stuka that's half built. Tim
  16. You mean lights that work? I'm not sure of any. Tim
  17. It's possible that some offending posts were deleted. If you want to know why, just PM one of the mods.
  18. Indeed. I wish I were close enough to attend.
  19. While I was checking out the HLJ site, I see that a company called "Freedom Models" has a BMW motorbike and a Kettenkrad in 1:16 as well. Another company I have never heard of, but I am sorely tempted by both, as the prices seem pretty reasonable to me. T
  20. So has Andy said if he plans do release the M4A1 at some point? I'd drop 150 on a kit from him, but I'm struggling to spend well over 200 for the I Love Kit.
  21. I had no idea. And what a dumbass name.
