  1. I thought we had just retired our Herculaneums ?
  2. Living up to it's realife subject this one crashed and burned. After three hours of patchworking metalics yesterday , TBH wasn't really working out very well , so stopped and then gingerly held it vertically whilst peeling the making tape off as the paint was still soft ....and .....slipped out of my fingers hit the desk and the wing snapped off cleanly . Given how thin the wing is , and the angle of the join , pinning it looks to be a real PITA even if it's doable . So the thing lived up to it's reputation as a lawn dart and back in a box it goes. I can sit there for a while until I decide if I can be arsed with it again . Laters PW
  3. No just responding to specific point made while the UK was at sleep / at work . I'd leave it up to the mods to police threads.
  4. The old Italeri kit is great, I've built quite few over the years , and owned numerous 1:1 versions Nice job there Mike, for me the roof is always a bit tricksy but you've pulled it off. If you ever research MOD plates this website will give you in-service records. https://merlinarchive.uk
  5. To the guys getting a bit hot under the collar with my opinion -I invite you to please post some RFI's of your WNW builds as you both were clearly well into them . I never built one when I could afford one , and would be genuinely interested to see your builds , what worked , what would was hard , why they were so good . I'm sad WNW died before I got into biplanes, and also sad that for whatever reason the moulds haven't been licensed or sold on, and languish in a warehouse somewhere gathering dust, and the remaining stocks are now just being hoarded for profit . Learning from others for me adds value to my hobby , far more than just speculation , or wishing that things were different than they were . Cheers PW
  6. Wife bought me one for Xmas, which was a good move as she knows not to try buying me models . Looks fascinating in concept TBH . I saw a superb 'car in workshop' one on FB a while ago, but can't find the pic. Something like 1/72 but looked more 1/24 in detail . When I build it anyone interested in seeing a log ?
  7. There's a "Flapper theme" going on in the Burrow at the moment .
  8. I think closing down yet another WNW thread ( 7 alone started by the OP of the recently closed one) is not excessive. How much really is left to be said on the subject ? TBH if people want to have wish lists , and endless debates over minutia , and grind their pet axes then why not have a separate part of the forum , or ask that all the debate is kept on one or two threads as on other forums , easier to ignore it all , less clutter, & saves repeating yourself on a whole new thread ... Anyone familiar with the British Army forum will know what I mean , nb they have a less polite view /description . If you want to mark it "Wish list ....Tamiya Wish list ....or just "WNW /Kotare/ 1/35 again" in the title that would be handy too. I'll skip it . Over the years I've been on here, I can say, for my opinion, this forum consistently showcases some of the finest scale work to be seen anywhere , by genuinely gifted folk -way beyond where I will ever get in the hobby , heck there are plenty of people who manufacture kits for a living on here too . LSP reviews and guides are outstanding , and the mod tolerance here is good , no redlining and "experten" flying around . Personally I've drifted off a bit in the past 12 months because of the growing numbers who never seem to build anything but have to crack on endlessly about the industry , why this is wrong, what such and such should do etc etc. That most famous proponent (now departed) had 10,000+ posts, not one of which ever mentioned anything he built . I don't miss his presence. The endless rehashings ....be nice for them not to become what LSP is known for. Oh and I'll have one of these from Kotare for Xmas please , a Blackburn Puffin Pellet .
  9. 100's of proper build logs on here .. .this is intended for entertainment alone Damn thing's so big it needs to hang up to bake the paint . I liked the lens flare too .
  10. Happy Birthday , Delphine salutes another year passed !
  11. I don't feel fear or panic , Nothing brings me down I'm an aero-spaceage warrior I fly sideways through sound ........... It's in one big lump after a days work , 4 layers of primer , a lot of filing , sanding and filling . Overall not a bad fit but needs to be good for the NMF . Drying in the upper atmosphere .... Ah .........but how does she handle ??
  12. Agreed 100%, yet another "Eulogy for a Doomed Vanity Project that died when Jackson ran out of money"...maybe it will morph into "the 300 subjects Tamiya might make next year even though they clearly don't consider 1/32 worth bothering with anymore" ....maybe we call have some threads about "the one girl who got away ". I get some people clearly prefer pontificating to glueing , but these threads crop up with such stale regularity ......oh.... maybe we could have another "why 1/35 is the devils spawn .." I'll kick off ..whatever happened to Daphne ...broke my heart and ran off with the Packard ... Just my POV ...
  13. So hows the fit Womble ??? Well here’s the old fupstick in my Seam Persuader 3000 TM , just getting ready to apply the Bondo. I’ve found about 20lbs is just right to tighten the fuse together. CA ‘n Zip kicker round 3. Reckon a few coats and we should be good to rock. Like how the glue imitates life ... Meanwhile …more in the dark saga …. Laterz
  14. Ready for cockpit check .....I relented and have a resin bang seat on the way for later in the build . Which means the lower mould part of the seat had to be chopped out hence the hole ....or maybe it's for downwards ejection ... Meanwhiles , All never to be seen again in any detail
  15. So.......... Hasegogo from 1976 ....think 1/72 but thicker .....boy this one's thick . Quick to build though. Going together with ease .... Also - Spent 3 hours playing with my Silhouette todays , I might be able to make some roundals now . #full1970s Renamed the thread as this clearly won't be anywhere near Chuck's country , and I don't think the book will help me either More music though ....so that can't be all bad .
  16. Holy shoot .....you've really upped your personal best there fella . The 109 and figures are exquisite . Photo's are 100% spot on . Bravo Gary Bravo !
  17. His father dealt with Chinese merchants pre war , and Eugene received paper dragons as a childhood present .
  18. Exquisite work again , I missed this was build 2 .....I think Hurricane or Hawker might be your 'spirit animal ', you seem to have a real affinity for them
  19. Very good !! Little did you know that in 111 Sdn they painted them shocking pink and referred to them rudely as what came out of the Zipper ! Aha the possibilities are endless .
  20. So apart from the EE Lightning being the finest fighter ever for shure., I have a soft spot for the old Widowmaker. Back ...no ...........way back when ...no even further back please ......, in my trippy dippy psychedelic youth , my love of prog rock was strong , and this particular album has happy memories . As far as I know it's the only album soley dedicated to an aircraft model ( don't correct me if I'm wrong) , Linky link .......so for your delight and delectation , please join me down the rabbit hole of 1974 and the magnificence of Bob Calvert's / Hawkwind's meanderings .... or just sit along for a build log and ignore the music ...it probably hasn't dated well. . Either way I'll be singing along . Enjoy ... or not .... Laterz
  21. Good point -although wasn't the F-4K a US designation in RAF/ FAA service "FGR 1/2? , C-130 were C1/W2/C3.?..all semantics I suspect . The Revell turned up , it was a complete Richard III ...not worth a tube of glue TBH ....so flashed out for the Hasegawa instead ...equally old but probably a better base.......... yes......... will be buying the Italeri by next Friday no doubt.
  22. Left field thought - don't they own / have easy access to a Mig 21 ? I did their 1/48 Fishbed and liked it , and in 1/32 there is only Revell's 1974 tooling or the Trumpeter 2001 tooling which seemed not to go anywhere. Plenty of different users and different models to keep Eduard busy re popping for a while . My business ???? I'd look for clear gaps in the market before copying everyone else .
  23. I built the same old kit 20 years ago with my young son ( his choice) , it was completely unmemorable . Here is current red peril pencil I'll use as a base. When it gets delivered thought the interwebs from Ebay land , we will commence.
