  1. ok, so i call it done the interior, here are some pictures, also i did some tryouts on the fitting of the resin nose, and for now this is what i can say, the fitting let a lot to be desired, the resin nose is wider than the fuselage, about 1mm on each side of the fuselage, i dont know yet how i will approach this issue, tomorrow i will post a picture of the problem, so you guys can give me ideas on how to address that problem.
  2. I have this set already sitting for 2 months in a drawer waiting for someone to be the guinea pig of this conversion, but looks like no one want to be, so here i am taking my chances
  3. Hello everyone, i decided to come back to the forum and try to picture a new WIP for this ugly but good looking airplane. This is what i am after, i will finish it as in the picture, bare metal. This was the one and only prototype built before they came out with a kind of SEA scheme, that i dont like by the way, and i dont want to do a WHAT IF airplane. I am using Tamiya's P-51D and the only resin kit available in the market for a 1/32 scale from RESIN 2 DETAIL. I am going to talk about the conversion set, there is no need to talk about the model itself, because we already know the quality of tamiyas models. this is what you get inside the box, plenty of pieces in white resin the detail in the pieces is good, some pieces came twisted, but nothing that some hot water can take care of. The nose section is a huge chunck or resin, very heavy, i will need to drill the center of it to remove some resin to lightened the nose section, te detail in the nose is basic as just panel lines, i will need to improve some of the details by adding some fasteners and some PE clamps for the engine cowling doors. One important thing is that the resin kit comes without any instructions at all, so you have to figure it out where to cut the model pieces , this guys promised a PDF file with instructions, but so far nothing, so i will have to use common sence on this build. Here you see in black what needs to be removed from the original pieces in order to make room for the new ones So lets start, as always , we start with the cockpit, the rear fuselage fuel tank needs to go away and make room for the new radio compartment here it is
  4. Hi Kev, as always you can give the pictures the use you want, i am starting another proyect that will be interesting, it will go in a magazine, my first time, so i have to ask if i can post any pics of the WIP here. Jorge
  5. Thank you all for your kind words. Jorge Oppenheimer
  6. the thing i like about this paint is if you spray it at the correct pressure, then you get a satin finish and you skip the need of a clear coat for the decals, also that they are ready to apply any kind of weathering product over it without using a clear coat
  7. Hi guys, after a long brake finally started and finished a model, this is from MRC with the Zactoman resin conversion , first resin pieces that really fit like an original piece, also in this model is my first time using MRP paints, let me tell you, best paint ever used in my life, after this tryout the other paint brands are gone for me. Hope you like this one Jorge
  8. well , i preordered my set, now is time to buy another Tamiya kit to make company to my Mustang in my shelf, been waiting for this for decades, beautiful airplane and aggressive lines with the dart engine in the nose. Jorge
  9. for being rusty and out of practice, you have done a great looking Corsair, great job, and as everyone else said, the pilot looks real on that airplane Jorge
  10. jaw dropping model, you made an outstanding job on this one Jorge
  11. Hi Peter, as always, i take my hat off to your magnificent work, and photography also, is a delight to see such a great kit coming together in your hands, i have been looking since the begining of this post Jorge
  12. thanks Kev, it is always nice to see the work on the front page
  13. Thanks for your kind words guys, Peter, yes i am back dont know for how long, this new job keeps me out of the bench most of the time. Kev, sure you can post it on the page, as always you're welcome to do so Jorge
  14. Well , after 4 months i finally find some time to finish this one, is OOB build, first time for me to build a kit just with the pieces from the box, all the paints are from tamiya, hope you guys like it Jorge
  15. So far this is what a have: Paneling on the top side : DONE Insignias and fuselage band: DONE next to come will be painting the insignias on the underside as well as paneling, then comes the vertical stab with the code and stripes painted Till now the overall look of the Zero looks nice to my eyes and to the camera too Jorge
  16. Craig i use Tamiya Weathering Compound for some staining, like the one on the wing root where the pilot walks to the cockpit, the rest is airbrush work Jorge
  17. Christian, the metallic blue green in the wheel wells is the original color on early Zeros, it is call OATAKE it is an anti corrosive paint. Jorge
  18. Alain, i am using XF-76 and XF-14 original from the bottle and mixed with white also. i painted the roundel on top of the wings and paneled the left one, so far so good for my taste
  19. Ok, so here it is, ready for roundels and codes to be painted and after that the paneling job will start, kind of start liking this color, didn't like at all at the beginning looks like a rotten egg, i have a doubt about the red of the roundels, did it fade under the sun?? i have read that the red color was a strong paint and even if the airplane was all bitten up the red color stayed unfaded, is that true, i dont whant to mess it up. Jorge
  20. this is how the top side of the wing look now, some light weathering on the paint, i dont want to go over the extreme weathering, so i think it will stay like this, some minnor tweaking and keep moving on
  21. the base color lighted with white is on, now a have to crack my head on how to weather this tone of paint without over doing it, this is going to be difficult , never painted this color on an aircraft before, also painted some spot in silver for a small chipping, navy Zeros were not that chipped as army Zeros reworked the fabric elevators so they wont look that worn
  22. Craig, that was a first test on the elevators, now they look less dirty, i am approaching to a almost new Zero, not to much worn on it Jorge
  23. so far not much of a progress, just glue and sandpaper, fuselage and wing are in place, just painted the gear wells and testing on the elevator to see how can i get a fabric covered elevator looks, i think they are ok so they will stay with that finish, also added Eduard flaps set the wheel wells are not that impressive, this airplane is so simple that looks like a toy, just a single hydraulic line in it
  24. Thanks guys, Tim i am going with the gray green used at pearl harbor, i dont want to go with the army fleet cuase i want to keep it simple, dont want to mess with chipping as all the green Zeros looks
  25. Hello everyone, after a few months away from the bench i decided try with this one to see if my modelling MOJO is back, this is a 1/32 Tamiya A6M2 ZERO it will make a good companion to my other 2 Tamiya birds, so far just the cockpit is done, the oxigen bottles will be without any lines cause they wont be visible at all when the fuselage is close. This will be a OOB build
