  1. This is the Tamiya 1/48 scale Betty.Must say that it was an easy build. Everything straight out of the box except the seatbelts. I tried to build a very weathered aircraft, kind like this; The kit; build OOB except for the Eduard seatbelts, used electric wire for modeltrains for the brakelines and ignitionwires. Maskes it with painterstape, I bought the Eduard mask but they sucked. Had the mask for the meatballs to but they sucked too...... (I believe it was the old Eduard stuff because they were made of green vinyl) Did the usual stuff; primer , preshade, post shade, chipping. Painted the kit with Tamiya acrylics; IJN green, preshade it with the same green colour mixed with sea-blue, underside IJ grey, IFF lemon-yellow with a dot of red. Exhaust stains are Revell paints; sand colour, red-brown and black. Chips; Revell silver and Tamiya cockpit green. Fuel stains; artist oil-pencils Wheels; Revell silver and flat black. weatherd it with tamiya weatheringpastels and Vallejo pigments.
  2. Excellent work! But before you start on the Bull Terrier, take a look at pics of the breed from the 1930's. Because they differ from the breed seen nowadays. A more "tuck up" belly and a "lighter" head, difficult to explain about the conformation of the dog......so it's best to surf the world wide web and take a look for yourself.... Best regards; Ulrich
  3. Hello, this my first post here so a little introduction will be needed.... my name is Ulrich, live in the Netherlands ( so my apologies if my English is not very well) , 44 yrs old. After a break of about 20 years I started again with the "models". I've been building now for 3 years mainly WW2 Japanese stuff. Started in 1/48 scale but with my age comes the problems....so currently I build 1/32 scale aircraft. this kit I build 9 months ago; It's a conversion of the Hasegawa Ki-61-tei Hien into a Ki-61-II kai "bubletop". I always wanted to build the Ki-61-II kai, by converting the Hasegawa kit, but the main problem was that I could make the "clear parts" myself. So when I saw that EZ models ( Alleycat) made a resin conversion of a KI-100 ( to use with the Hasegawa Ki-61 as a donor) I contacted them if I could purchase a canopy ( since they are the same as the Ki-61-II kai's canopy). After telling what my intensions were with the canopy, I could buy one for GBP7,50 (incl postalcost). But before I could start with the kit I had to finish to other kits, a tamiya 1/48 A6M5 Zero and a Hase 1/48 Myrt. When I wanted to start with the Ki-61 I saw that EZ models made a Ki-61-II Kai resin conversion... I thought of choosing the easy way BUT buying the HAsegawa kit PLUS the resin conversion kit would be very expensive and would not please the misses........ So I with a drawing of a Ki-61-II kai printed in 1/32 scale, a picture of a Ki-61-II kai, pictures of the last remaining Ki-61 ( a "fastback" of the Kai version and a Hase 1/48 Ki-100 ( bubbletop) as reference I started........hoping that it would lead somewhere.... *I sawed off the "back" of the plane, filled it with pieces of plastic, Evergreen and putty. * Sanded down the "hump"on the cowling. * Enlarged the nose section, with Evergreen and putty. *Enlarged the vertical stabilisor with Evergreen and....yes, putty! * Used the resin Ki-100 canopy. Here are the pics; I used Evergreen and loads of Tamiya white putty for this kit! Hope you like it. Best regards; Ulrich Schütt
