  1. Seems like an awful lot of WWII stuff.... I would like to see some cold war era
  2. some modifications just arent necessary.... You have to remember scale modelling is about pulling off illusion of scale effect rather than trying to go millimeter for millimeter to shrink things.... some fixes are just a bad investment of time and resources.... 4 scale inches of depth really only matter when it comes to shoing the profile of the seat over the side sills...
  3. weathering and camo is great.... my only issue would be the cockpit color... But at this point its spilt milk... and your average person wont know the diff.... just us Russian Aircraft junkies
  4. Please dont use that preprinted IP when you have such beautiful cockpit parts...
  5. These are indeed acrylic.... they just yse a petroleum based solvent. They are very similar to the new line of Akan.. lacquer based paint..... and behave like Mr Hobby paint when thinned properly.... Hands down I think lacquer based acrylics are the very best.
  6. I love the fitter.... it was such a beast.... It prob wouldve been used more widely had it not been for its single engine config. We really are in need of a good inj molded kit for this
  7. THe Fullback is a whole different animal..different fuse, gear, pit, wings etc... I think you would end up really building the whole plane from scratch since it is so very different that the Su-27... but the Su-33 is certainly a more reasonable conversion.
  8. Wow Mark... beautiful effect..... Best Mig 21 job Ive ever seen!!!
  9. check your references... the compressed air, Oxygen bottles tucked up in the main landing gear bays and wings are blue and black respectively.
  10. Just a place holder. Have the Trumpy kit with all the resin and a plethora of PE, Napalm tanks.... Love the HUN !!!!
  11. I will definitely do the Hun..... Nothing flew more sorties that the F-100 in SEA camo with heat discoloration and chipped paint on the engine combustion area ......
  12. WEll Im not suprised noone bit on the F-35... Its junk.... the Gripen can fly circles around it... The Rafale has a far better loadout, the MIg-29 is an elegantly lethal platform..... plus the F-35 is just plain ugly... no style whatso ever... LOL I have a friend who is one of the Engineers for the USAF working the F-35 contract and he doesnt exactly hold that project in high regard either..... The JSF project is a huge failure from a project management perspective
  13. The acrylics spray nicely .... use water though.... they arent very durable ..... The lacquer based line is as good as Gunze ..... lacquer based.,... needs no thinning ....... IMO Gunze is hands down the finest model paint for airbrush application(lacquer based line).,.... so this is a close second.
  14. That's all we need is another BF-109 ...LOL Maybe someone will release another Tiger tank too...
  15. I find Eduard's pre printed PE from around 2005 to be amazing..... but around 2007 they changed their printing process and it really fuzzy looking and grainy,,,, I will have to take a pic of a 2005 interior PE set for the 1/32 scale F-105 G to demostrate.... It is so sharp and smooth compared to more recent stuff... So I try to use the Airies method if possible..... It you take your time with painting the the overlay it can be quite convincing
  16. LOL... sometimes having a GB going is the only way I can stay focused and finish a project in a realistic time frame,,,,, I just got a f-100D Hun Kit from Trumpeter... and all the AM I could find so That will be my addition.... Vietnam Era jets are a favorite, and I actually have a Thud, Sandy, Phantom, Crusader, and Corsair II on the shelf as well in big scale..... But the Hun is a personal favorite....
  17. I used lifercolor with their own thinner and it coagulates every time..... I think I got a bad batch of thinner..... works fine with distilled water though.... I am so spoiled on my GUnze laquer based paint though.... NOTHING sprays like that stuff.... and has that kind of durability.. but the vapors are just too bad... I bought a hood system and I still cant get the vapor to reduce.... so I think I will have to switch over to acrylics.... What does everyone think about Vallejo Modelair?? I
  18. Models are never going to be perfect.... There is surely going o be a on of aftermarket stuff released for this
  19. G factor makes the best landing gear IMHO.... I really dont like SAC gear... its too soft... and lacks the crisp detail I like, I use the trumpeter zinc metal gear when they provide it.... ir the combination metal/ plastic gear usually holds well too... you can always drill out the plastic gear and insert metal, then use the polished metal surface as the OLEO..... I have done this method before...
  20. As a modeller and engineer by profession, I can really appreciate the design of the ZM A-1H/J ..... but I personally would rather see more attention to the skin texture..... Some companies get this spot on.... Like Great Wall, Bronco, some of the 1/32 Tamiya stuff..... Trumpeter has texture problems sometimes as well.... but Trumpy has good styrene that isnt super brittle..... ZM uses styrene similar to Kitty Hawk.... it doesnt sand crisply and cracks easily
  21. I dont have the Trumpy kits, but I found the ZM kit disappointing...... The surface detail was very bad considering the scale.... the quality of the plastic is brittle and hard to work... the kt is WAY over engineered( they dont need to make pistons for the engine that noone will see) The photoetch kit is grainy and some of Eduards worst work..... The instruction manual is great.... but if you buy all the little add ons it makes for an insanely expensive model..... with very little fine detail..... I would rather they spend alot of effort on a nice surface detail and leave off the Gimmicky wing spars and interior frames.... This was the first and last ZM I ever buy
  22. I saw this at a Model show in Texas.... It is an amazing build,,,, the close up detail work of the fuse is mint..... Great work... !!!!
