  5. Thanks Guy--I appreciate it. Work has slowly continued (painting stage) but i have had serious paint lifting issues (plus other problems life throws at you). Painting is almost done, then decals. Update and pics soon! VERY soon!
  6. It's been a while since we heard anything about this build...how are things coming? I know how it goes--my A6M2 build may seem to be stalled, but it is slowly moving along. Posting pics soon... I hope you are continuing with this one P51 Man! Regards, Tom
  7. Amazing work, especially the camo. I love the way you build up the paint little by little. Tom
  8. Thank you Mark and Tom! Thanks for the heads up Tom, although I already went and bought Tamiya frisket and masking tape for curves. I see it would have been cheaper and easier just to buy the Maketar masks. I may just buy them to avoid using decals for the code numbers... Tom
  9. Short Update: It has been a long time since i had the opportunity to work on my Zeke, but I finally got the chance to update where it stands. Months ago, during the main paint job, I masked off the tail and rudder so I could paint the flying surfaces--however, when I pulled up the tape, some tape lifted off around the tail. These all had to be sanded back and re-painted. Well it took several attempts to get it all evened out properly, and with some good advice from Mal Belford, I got everything smoothed out for repainting. I also had some trouble re-riveting the port flap; I kept punching new holes all the way through the flap (very thin plastic). I got this repaired as well, although I still need some rivet holes on that flap. I will see what I can do for next time. Anyway, here's some new pics: The moveable surfaces still need to be re-painted, but I am giving the top coat plenty of time to dry. I also want to paint on all insignia and stripes, but I am terrified of more lifting Here are some shots of the weathered engine. Front: And back: More to come soon -- thanks for looking! Tom

  13. Sorry to hear about your back problems, I know how that can be.
  14. Looks good Mal. Here's an idea; can you wrinkle up the tape a bit (or wad it up)? Maybe that could make the wrinkles in that fabric. I know that tape is probably hard to wrinkle up then pull apart... Looking good bud!
  15. Mal- What a beauty my friend! No thanks necessary, glad to help any time I can You have a wonderful work of art here; it was enjoyable to follow along Can't wait to see what's next ! Best wishes Tom
