I have been building in other scales as well the last few years and the Eduard 1/48 109s are a favorite. This one is mostly OOB with the addition of Master barrels and pitot.

I've always thought alot of this aircraft. It wasn't the most effective carrier based bird nor the most handsome of the lot but for some reason I was always drawn to this one. Great work so far Dave!!

I managed to shoot a coat of semi-gloss black on the chassis followed by a light over coat of super thinned out gray which helped to tone things down some and bring out some of the details. I also installed an engine oil dipstick on the drivers side of the engine. Here's everything all fitted up and ready to go now.

This is not the easiest of dashes to negotate in terms of modeling. I feel that I've turned out alot better ones than this, but you'll see what I have to work with.

I ended up cleaning a BUNCH of flash off of this thing and drilled through all of the gauge impressions.

I had some gauges from Goffer Racing that I used for the smaller gauges but used the OOB ones for the speedo and the tach to stay as close to OEM look as possible. I then cut them down to squares and glued them in from the back side. The swing pedal levers were then thinned out to a truer to scale thickness and the whole dash was pained up and detailed. The "Camaro" emblem on the glove box was a PE offering from Model Car Garage and the radio face station tuning decal was from the spares box.

I made a couple of changes and a few upgreades to what was already there OOB. I didn't like the fake looking OOB shifter so I made my own from a bobby pin. PE adorns areas of the dash and a set of keys now hang from the ignition switch.

Built this kit as a kid , the earlier 1969 tool , this is the new tool 2009 release.

Bit of nostalgia as honestly I really don't like 1/72 ...detail is mainly blobs , parts are fiddly , & often I can't be bothered with the process. I love David Demek's work (PLASMO on YouTube) - he is really gifted especially as he mainly works in Braille scale . Don't know where he gets the patience !

    Anyhoo.

I chose P for Popsey ....Harold Martin's aircraft .... as having read about my namesake (Gibson) he was ...let say not a great chap . "Little Napoleon" to his ground crew, virtually none of his existing squadron opted to move with him to 617 ...his death aged 26 was considered by some in the RAF to be possible ground crew sabotage at one point . Enough said . He was brave though.

Revell give you three serials , AJ G  / AJ P or AJ F , interestingly all aircraft that failed to drop a bomb on target ....some weird German "cancelling" perhaps although Airfix boxings avoid them as well . Been nice to have done AJ J whose mine breached  Mohne or AJ N which took out Eder.  Meanwhile elsewhere in kit world Waffen SS tanks remain ever popular .....go figure ?

Interesting Info about all the aircraft here

Not much to say about the kit . The dihedral is apparently off ...can't say I really noticed, the main wheels are way too big so swapped them for Eduard resin ones , and Revell's decals remain a silvery disappointment . Other than that just a bit of fun , I need to remember not to buy anything less than 1/48( or 1/32)  in future .

Kept weathering light as the aircraft was delivered 23rd April , and in action over the dams only 3 weeks later. Suspect they were pretty well maintained in between . AJ-P ED909 survived the war in various other roles before being scrapped in 1947 .

PS I know nothing about Lancasters so you'll just have to bear with the various gaffs .

Hello! I know I haven’t been in the forum for a long time, but that’s how it is with me. We started a little weekend project yesterday. My wife is happy because another box is disappearing on my closet. “Saetta” straight out of the box and without additives. Only these masks I make myself for the glazing. So far, only the contents of the box. It’s a pity there aren’t any extras.

The studio isn’t finished yet, so the photos are completely finished.

The glazing is beautiful and transparent.

    Painting is also chosen.

Completed subframe with modified spindles to drop the front end a little bit along with the mostly completed bare engine:

I purchased my first two MAD prewired distributors. I've gotta say that I am definitely impressed. This cut my time in like 1/10th of the time from drilling the OOB distributors and inserting the ignition wire myself. They come in all kinds of cap and wire colors.
