  1. Thanks Kevin! Hopefully within the next few days. I need to BMF it and paint all the details out. I'll wait till the body is mounted on the rollin' chassis before I start putting all the emblems on it though. Thanks Gazzas!! Engine building and interior work are my two favorite things about auto building.
  2. Thanks Shawn! Been working on wet sanding and polishing the body out over the course of the last few days. Updated pics coming soon......
  3. I'm unfamiliar with the marbling process but I like the results. What's the technique? Details again...........are tops.
  4. Man I just love all the details that Tamiya puts in their builds! I've never seen anybody make a frame work like you've made here. Neat idea.
  5. Clean work with that PE!! Looks to be quite the interesting build there Rick.
  6. Ok folks. I believe that the 396 is done enough to where I'm going to put it in the chassis and get started on the exhaust system. I temporarily installed the center section of the fan on the front of the front just for picture taking purposes and will remove it so I can use it on the backside of the other fan I have for a future build. N E ways..............here she is: And this one I throw in for all my friends at work. They always tell me that I have a giant clothespin hanging out in my garage.
  7. There's a couple of guys over at Model Cars Magazine Forum who do things like this and it just blows my mind every time I watch one of their builds come together. Top notch stuff here Pascal
  8. Ok that's a new one on me. Haven't seen that one yet.
  9. Shawn: Thank you bud. I did indeed have it on FSM. ARC.....? Which forum is that? What was/is your screen name at FSM?
  10. Joe and Gazzas: Thanks fellas. I've been an automotive tech for about 21 years working in Chevrolet Dealerships and more recently as a supervisor in a Fleet Service Department. Before that I was a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic (aka 68B in the U.S. Army National Guard for 6 years)) , a Utility Helicopter Repairer (UH-1H Huey Crewchief aka 67N10 in active U.S. Army for 8 years) and before that automotive repair started out for me since the age of 11 years old in my dads muffler shop in Bowie, Texas. All that being said, I draw from alot of experience when putting scale models together. My weaknesses are weathering and figures and hope to gain that knowledge here from you all. This place has some of the best of everything it seems like in pertaining to aircraft , figures and armor. In short....................this place rocks.
  11. Sorry for the late reply. Had alot of stuff going on around the house the last month and haven't made it back to here until lately. Thanks Vaughn
  12. Good lookin' track dude! I'm not an armor builder but I've got a lot of admiration for those that do go into those waters.
  13. Nice parts pak there Kevin and your progress is looking great man!! I love these old Duece's.
  14. Thanks guys! As for the primer, I never pay full price for anything (unless its for charity ) and Hobby Lobby has that magical 40% off coupon so I ended up paying around $7.00 for that primer and it is all that and a bag of party mix. The automotive color was shot through a Badger 350 as was the gloss coat. I decanted it and allowed to air out to get all the air bubbles out of it then shot it through the 350. I like the external mix airbrushes for these gloss coats.
  15. I shot the gloss coat on this morning and I really couldn't be happier about the outcome. I used MM "Wet Look" gloss coat and it'll dry like this. You can see the chameleon like effect on the lower parts of the body going from green to blue to purple. Now for the week long cure out...................
  16. Verrrrrrry nice work and in such small scale!!! I've got the Eduard 1/48 kit and have a Wolfpack wing folding kit to go with it. It's been a long time since I've painted anything in the Pacific blue colors but builds like this make me want to bust out that blue stuff once again. I've used EZ line in the past but the more I practice with stretched sprue the more I stray from EZ line. Nice work on this beauty Chris.
  17. A few days late to the game here folks. Finding time to be on the forums is proving difficult as of late as there's just been so much going on. I've been working steady on the engine and have managed to get the carburetor on with the fuel lines and fuel filter as well as the ignition system all taken care of. Looking back I wish I would've included the barrel nut for the fuel line to fuel pump connection but it's installed now so there's no going back now. I'll be coming up with a throttle return spring and bracket as well as some other goodies soon.
  18. Dude...........................this is seriously off the dang charts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Excellent modeling sir!!
  19. Yeah, It was hard for Gregg too. He took it really hard. I had a chance to talk with Harry via PM's and a few emails and he was indeed a good guy.
  20. Dude................you are tha MAN!!! This is nothing short of spectacular!!! I can't get enough of this build!!! Teach me oh master!!! Really though.............great work there J.
  21. You know , I've heard of that and forgot all about it. Now you've got me thinkin' ................
  22. Hey there Kevin. The base color isn't Testors. This is automotive paint but you'll be seeing the results on down the line with me airbrushing Testors Wet Look Gloss Lacquer on with surprisingly good results. Just had to dispense it out and wait for it to air out to get all the bubbles out of the paint and shoot it through an external mix airbrush which in my case was a Badger 350. I don't know if this will hold true for you in the future with automotive building but for me the more I sprayed from a can the less l enjoyed the results, especially when I got my technique down with the AB. There's just so much more control and ALOT less likelihood of a run in the paint. I do like the quality of some of the gloss clears as well as colors in cans which is why I dispense a lot and shoot it through the AB.
  23. Thanks Joel, DB, Bill and mpk. I had a great time with this one and even let my then 8 year old son paint a couple of the mottle patterns. It's hard to tell which ones were his though.
  24. I always wanted to build one of these as a kid and never got around to it. I built a B-17 or two but this plane has always awed me. You have done one heckuva job on this one I can tell ya that!!! The paint and greenhouse masking are top notch stuff bud.
