  1. I tried emailing him but he never got back to me. The model above says discontinued when you go to the site. :\ I also tried to ask for a spinner for the paddle props located here http://www.kitsforcash.com/p-51-mustang-racing-paddle-propellor-blades-30-p.asp But they don't have spinners. So maybe they will just work hopefully with a 1/32 P-51 standard spinner. They are cast metal and stout which was my initial problem with the first 4 sets of P-51 uncuffed props and spinners I ordered (which was very expensive in 1/32 scale). But they were soooo crazy filmsy I ended up sending them back. They were like paper thin. The props on my 21'st century toys -P51 are much, much thicker. I even thought about buying two of those kits and trying to build it. I also thought about trying to scratch build from wood or clay(to be cast then into resin) and then pulling parts from 1/32 P-51 and other kits to complete it. I actually have that P-38 Revel kit on my shelf behind me as we speak. But I didn't really want to rob it's propellors. I also really wanted four bladed props. Yep I'm a pain. lol
  2. Wow I didn't think you'd be able to twist them by hand like that. I do have heatgun(s) if necessary. I found those 1/32 paddle props linked way above. But I'll have to find/make a hub. In 1/48 scale it would be pretty easy, just by two highplanes precious metal kits. The hard part is doing it in 1/32 I'm making a very modified F-82.. in fact hardly an F-82 at all.. If I could figure out how to upload photos I'd share my idea with you and maybe you'd have some insights. How did you get the second counter rotating ring on your Precious Metal? That part seemed like a significant challenge to me.
  3. Yah it's tricky to find those big chunky paddle props. If i didn't mind 3 blades and 1/48 scale to make a custom F-82 racer then I could just buy P-51 Precious metal kits from High Planes. It's still an option to me, but i'd rather try to do it in 1/32 scale even if it means total scratch built. But thanks for the good ideas.
  4. Hi everyone, Can anyone tell me where to find 1/32 Counter Rotating Props (props and spinners). Failing that any good ideas on how to make them from scratch? These are going to go on a racing model. I found some really cool props here http://www.kitsforcash.com/p-51-mustang-racing-paddle-propellor-blades-30-p.asp They're paddle look props. I'm trying to create two 4 bladed props.. a counter rotating setup similar to the Westland Wyvern. Only problem is that kit is 1/48 scale otherwise I'd buy two of those kits Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  5. What an impressive thread Ken. Your work blows my mind!
  6. Looks like an F-16 to me, enough that no one I know in hundred miles would be able to point out a flaw. I think from what I'm haring that I'm getting over my head trying to get the resin conversion and deal with fixing warp or lots of mis fitting. I think I'll end up going with the academy and upgrading the intake and exhaust. Thanks for the great info.
  7. Wow I didn't know that company had it. I thought it was completely out. Thank you!
  8. Thank you Scotsman and Carl, I did read about the correction of the intake mouth but I had not seen that zactomodels link, thank you for that. Are most aftermarket products designed for the academy and tamiya models work with the AFV models? Or is that going to be a rough fit trying to make those work?
  9. AFV 1/32 F16B Block 20 Vs AFV 1/32 Scale RSAF F-16D Block 52 Anyone have any good comments or criticisms on these two models. I'm torn between them. I defnitely want the family version F-16 in 1/32 or I would have gone with the single seat Tamiya. Problem is you can't seem to get the sprue brothers two seat conversion for the tamiya F-16 1/32 anymore. I even emailed the company that made the conversion and they won't email back. So I guess it's officially discontinued. I already researched the threads on the Tamiya F-16 CJ and it's about 1/2 the price of the two kits above, a much cheaper alternative and there are tons of detail aftermarket goodies. I can see why it attracts people. But I'm settled on the two seater version and these seem to be the only versions (I don't like the Sufa) out there. I know the AFV F16B was called out for some innacuracies around the intake and other things but to me those things are minor since I like to build for cool factor, not so much photo realism. I'm at the opposite spectrum of being a rivet counter lol I don't know too much about the AFV F-16D. So any information and any preferences people can offer up would be great. And ultimately I'd like your personal opinion on which kit you like better and why? Thanks everyone, Av
  10. Ps. Does anyone know what system/method/gear-type they use on the full scale racers/combat planes? I've been trying to track down anyone who might know how it's done on the full scale. I'm just very curious to know. (even though I will be do something different/simpler in 1/32 scale)
  11. -Interesting about the flexible tube piece. I knew there had to be an advanced reason for that. -Why would you say it's ideal to drive the pinion instead of driving the crown gears? I would have thought it to be the exact opposite. -That's a worthy suggestion, mounting the crown gear to the motor shaft if possible and aligned correctly. Certainly takes up less space. But of course you have to make sure that the crown gear is very accurately aligned or your going to have a disc wobbling like a frisbee.
