And here was me thinking the propeller blades were too thick in profile thus making the kit totally unfit and un-buildable, just when will the horror stop?

"Tamiya have just sent 3 staff to the Fighter Factory to gather a comprehensive photographic record of KA114 to aid in the production of a new Mosquito kitset due for release around the end of 2014/15. 1/32nd scale. Should be a beauty."

I dont know what to make of that, or if it was supposed to be kept under wraps.......but IF (BIG IF) its true, Id hold out for this beauty even before a ZM copy.

Spot on, the Birdcage Corsair is not my favourite type but bought it anyway knowing full well my favourite type would come down the road later because the right here right now factor was  irresistible, had Tamiya covered all variants in one boxing they would have got only sale out of me, but by boxing separately like they did with the Zero, Spitfire and Mustang they have got at least two, or will next year sometime I guess

    Clever marketing.

I would think there are just too many differences to make one kit have the option of being the FB vs bomber. The interior is different, the nose is different, the wind screen is different the bomb bay is different. There would be a lot of waste if all these changes came in one kit.

Folks, this is a commercial venture so please remember that, even though we have our own ideas on what should be first.
When I had my view requested by the owner of HK via an e-mail discussion some time back I pointed out the benefits of this subject being split into it's different versions and being sold separately as such.
This is the way to go into the future, and because of it, we might find that more subjects will be manufactured with the additional funding that it provides for the company involved.
Tooling costs for these big kits are HUGE, wherever they're produced, I hope you can all support this as we will eventually reap the benefits of such a policy over time.
    Enjoy these incredible times!

It's now discontinued after three production runs apparently over 4500 units I'm lead to believe.
The kit is fetching over £200 on eBay at the moment

P.S. ... I know I have to send you a PM ... it's not that I forget - time is very, VERY hard to find atm! ... Working a LOT of extra shifts - I'll pop the result of those shifts into a thread when something really special arrives

That's really intriguing, I considered mine to be amongst the best fitting kits I've ever built.

Worst fitting for me wasn't an LSP but a SSP, one of Roden's early He-111 series. A misshapen fuselage like you just couldn't imagine, with pretty poor fit everywhere else.
Sticking strictly to LSPs, the aforementioned Airfix Fw-190 caught me out too. Everything seemed to fit well, then I found the engine was substantially longer than it should be when it was too late to do much about it!

    Cheers,
    Bill.

These are the only 2 options in the Kagero book with a blunt rudder. Both have pointy wingtips.

Ill swap you my spare book for some Spitfire AM?

Artful69 reacted to jenshb in Tamiya Spitfires Mk.VIII and XVI ...
I'm pretty certain the Mk.VIII can be built with the normal elliptical wingtips and the rounded rudder, but I can't think of any concrete examples at the moment. After all, the Mk. VIIs were retrofitted with the elliptical wingtips shortly after D-day.

For the XVI, I think the answer is "not if you want an accurate model".  With the cut down rear fuselage, the vertical tail area (including the rudder) would need to be increased to maintain yeaw stability, so this would only have the pointed rudder.  I can't even recall seeing a photo of a cut-down Merlin Spitfire with the rounded rudder.

Plenty of each around if you know where to look ... There's a couple of stores in Australia selling em cheap in atm ... $120-130AUD should be what? - $75.00GBP or thereabouts ... add postage at the same exchange rate ...  get em to wrap it up in nondescriptive placky and hide the invoice!

I thought I saw some AM resin etc on e-bay for a 1/32 Revell mossie?? Is the stuff rubbish?

Forgive my ignorance Andreas ... but are you connected with Revell??
Good news on the Spit ... I doubt anyone would really mind delays - just as long as those delays mean that they get it right! ... I'm certainly looking forward to it!!
... Still no Do-17z though!! - or even a hint of one ... Which is really disappointing!

So is this a dedicated marketable correction for the Revell kit ... or just part of a personal build?

Nick, try seal model based in Hong Kong. I can reccomend them highly, I've ordered 3 times from there in the last few months, all 1/32 Tamiya kits and all have come through customs without charge. True they fiddle the invoice a little but I've had no trouble. Though if I remember rightly I got my Tamiya Zero from Hobby Easy, another Hong Kong outfit, again I can reccomend them and thepackage came through customs just fine, though with a correct invoice. P-47D from Hobby Link Japan I wasnt so lucky with but still much cheaper even with customs charges. I dont think I paid more than £60 for my Zero with postage.

Thanks Bill, nice effort and good info. I should dig up all I have for it and compare plastic to plastic from Dragon as well. Then it could always be hung up way high in my vaulted ceiling, waiting for a 1/32 Lancaster!

Unless it's parts to try out painting or other techniques. I can't see that anything on the old Revell 110C kit that's better than on the Dragon kit.
