  1. I apologize for not checking here for a while. Oh man ... No easy modeling for Taffy ... again! Not many of us would really have patience and persistence to keep pushing like you. I really like what you are doing here!
  2. The windows look very good, Brian. I agree, this way it way better than just plain paint. Very cool!
  3. Glad to see you back at the bench, Phil! It's always pleasure to follow your builds.
  4. Nice start. I'm looking forward to more updates. We need more subjects like that - even in wrong scale;)
  5. Thanks Jerry. Maru, I haven't touched the tank since the last update. In the meantime, on my other projects, I worked a bit with the nitrate dope and I'm quite confident that it should work well in case of the treads. Anyway, M24 is on a back burner and will stay that way for a while (but that was anticipated ). I'm trying to focus first on the project below (bullozer Komatsu G-40), than come back to my Piper Grasshopper. Hopefully next year I will find time to fiddle bit more with the tank.
  6. Superb! Lovely presentation too! ... but what's up with the muddy tires? For me that piece of your model is inconsistent with the grassy base.
  7. Brilliant! The pilot is just incredible. Bravo!!!
  8. Amazing.... Superb photography too! Just pure pleasure to watch your work. :wow:
  9. Hi guys! Thank you for you warm feedback. I really appreciate it. Sadly, I haven't have time to do any modeling for a few weeks now. Not enough time even for checking the forums ... Hopefully sometime in September my work load should ease a bit. I really miss modeling ... Hey Peter, L-4 is not different that J-3. A military variant was basically done by painting the Cub olive drab . I'm really envious about your flying experiences. Oh, man what I would do to take her for a spin

I'm glad you don't give up, Doug. Let us know if Wolf's spells worked. If not, we will find another shaman to keep you working on this build ...
  11. I wish I could see it in person A-m-a-z-i-n-g!
  12. Hey guys, it’s not that good . I have a lot of work to build and paint so cleanly as some of you. Moving slowly forward. I made all kinds of belts and straps - seatbelts, observer’s lower back strap and straps for batteries and radio. I used strips of regular printer paper and metal foil for buckles. Straight from the factory, cubs had two lower back straps, but I’ve read some opinions that the lower strap was discarded in the field as it didn’t provide any support and in general was useless. SCR 609 radio was a field modification around that time. Most likely this machine would carried one, so I scratch-built one. Together with a long whip antenna it will look very cool. Radio was hooked up to the power cells already. I started to glue elements to the floor. I was surprised (again!) how changing the background affects colors of the cockpit. Stupid camera. Anyway, now it’s much closer to the color I see with my naked eye and closer to the OD shade I was aiming for. Next, finishing the sides of the fuselage, fuel tank and instrument panel. Thanks for looking in.
  13. Got to love those outside photos. OK. your mather-in-law is excused for the delay - really nice pictures! What can I say ? ... Love it ... the weathering ... the finish ... flawless build .... It was pleasure to follow your build and the gallery is a treat for eyes. :punk:
  14. First diorama, eh? I don't believe you Brilliant Taffy! I enjoyed following your build and the results are great. Very busy and convincing scene. Off to check on your GB entry ... ps. Inbound PM!
  15. Thanks guys! Your eylids are getting heavier and heavier .... close your eyes ...It's not sucidal temptation ... you know you're missing something in your hobby ... you need to try something different ... a challenge .... deep inside, you feel it's time for a change ... when I finish counting to three you will wake up and will go to build a paper model! Didn't work? oh well, at least I tried! But seriously, so much has changed since 80s that you may have completely different exprience this time. With all your experience in modeling, I bet it will be a cakewalk (or almost ). If you interested, let me know your preferences and I can sugest some nice kits for you. I couldn't wait any longer with painting the cockpit. Please bear in mind, it's my first time and I feel comfortable only with simple techniques. After a coat of the OD, I decided to give the surfaces some color variation. I see you guys do all kinds of trick - preshading, etc. - I really suck with an airbrush, so I tried something different. I tried soft pastels, as I already have some exprience using them. The only challenge was to pick right colors. Not quite happy with the result, but at this moment I don't think I can do any better. The floor got similar treatment, only more of it! Additionally I tried some washes, and silver pencil for scratches of metal elements. Maybe it's too much, but since it's a dio project I feel it won't look egxagerated in the end. Considering conditions these Cubs operated made me feel even better I added all the linkage. Comments and critique is welcome!
  16. I love the sun baked paint. Very nice! You skipped this step in the build thread. Can you explain what have you used? chalks? somehting else? Anyway, the result is great. I ejoyed the photos a lot! :clap2:
