  1. Still bought jt i will work something out. :)
  2. just ordered from sprue bros the revell sturmbock yahoo!!!! in point of fact they got a whole restock many of the german revell models are back in stock
  3. I have been looking for the sturmbock NA everywhere except europe with ridiculous prices and shipping, like 50- 60 dollars and 45 - 50 shipping. I got it for 40 with 9 shipping wahoo hopefully the drought is over. OTOH I have no place to display these any more
  4. I just scanit via my printer scanner then do a trace however you get a lot of noise and poor separation between the colors
  5. will try inkscape btw does anybody have a design for the revell mustang for the 357 front checker pattern? I did a trace in silhouette but I do not want to test it on the model the trace was meh.
  6. thanks all I had to finish it I love the airplane
  7. autocad has a hefty price tag 1600 a year yikes but I found a few substitute programs which are free since we are tracing it would probably work well. I have the basic design silhouette software and their tracing leaves a lot to be desired. https://all3dp.com/2/best-autocad-alternatives/
  8. cricut is another cutter device I have the cameo 4 we should also mention https://www.scalemodelpaintmasks.com/ by our own kevin futter it is a great resource with some files others have uploaded for free use
  9. The brand i have is a bit less supple otoh it is easier for straight edges
  10. No it was a true detail resin piece think

  12. I first started this in 2015-2016. I am now retired but work then was very draining and stressful( general surgeon working as a surgicalist in a hospital) So the ac got put away. It did not help that the fluorescent light in my diy spray booth fell off and knocked one of the engine nacelles off ocuh. I retired in 2017 but lost the drive to build along with many other life events(grandpa) I still participated here and meant to get back to it eventually. I took up the mantel and got back on the horse and finished it up. Thanks to Thunnus for inspiration David Brown for info on this particular ac and Michael swinburn for sourcing the D/L antenna which took a flight into the wild blue. Yellow 3 was an early build so it had the early scissor links on the nose wheel and you had to delete the pouches on the access doors of the cannons. It is also well worn the only picture of it is nose down in a dump after the war but you can see how worn the paint was. It was an interesting process to create the worn look. I did a partial wip on it but did not include the earlier paint work. It basically had a speckled irregular under coat thin main coat weathered with pastels and watercolors . The mask allowed me to weather the markings as well. Other than decals , masks, nano mold seatbelts(great thing they are) and barracuda wheels the ac is stock trumpeter. This ac aIso had the original wooden rudder and square tail light that was made by cutting off he part of tail and blending in a piece of clear plastic with uv glue. I love AM but it does complicate and slow and already slow process for me. One error was the wing walk silvered old decals and despite a glossy base under it. they are hard to cut as vinyl stencils on my cameo I think that hgw makes some wet dry decal or next time may use the dry transfers for that. The vehicles are a 21 century die cast the kettenkrad is a ZM I just built posted ready for inspection today
  13. it is a zm. It is shame there are not more support vehicles in 1/32 I have some 21 century vehicles from a few years ago they are now rare and expensive. I have a tamiya jeep but 1/35 does seem small unless in perspective. I built this to pair with my now finished yellow three me 262 but It will work with any of my german ac. It was an easy build not pitfalls at all. I did some dramatic license with the painted on squadron emblem totenkopf, I am not sure the luftwaffe was a bit tight about that or not I am guessing it depends on the commander and the time of the war also. this was a lot of fun to build was a good change of pace. I tend to build in the winter and towards the end of my career (retired general surgeon was to busy to build and surprising to me at retirement I was busy with other things. All of sudden the desire to return hit me. I finished the me 262( probably on the bench since 2015-16. Going great guns now
  14. I think we both were reading the same post i got the hgw e7 today as well. Other then a set of wheels it does not need much more.
  15. with careful painting the cockpit is really good the wheel bays are nice much more detail but from what I have gathered they are a real pita to fit ditto the cockpit the wheels are fine as is the burner see above. I did a back date to a block 40 so I added the scab plates and had to find a different hud. I love aftermarket but sometimes it just complicates a fine model and takes away from the enjoyment of building and painting it often time it is not worth the effort just my 2 cents
  16. you know other then a few pieces to dress up the aces seat it does not really need anything
  17. I was going to rivet the flaps and oil can them myself but realized that the ac frenasi is overall painted so it would be a lot of work for nothing. Just going to putty the sink mark. How did you that built it deal with fit lf the gun piece onto the wing i read there was a step there
  18. I have been doing a little work on the spitfire i puttied all the gaps but i have a new project started so.....
  19. looks great are those from anyz or stretched sprue? did you think the quickboost radome made a big difference?
  20. i don't any of the 3d cockpit makers make one for the fulcrum yet. I have the eduard set which is nice but very flat. I have been shying away from the am stuff lately but the mig needs a 3d cockpit I would shell out the money. My alternative is get some of those anyz switches and add it to the eduard set to provide some surface detail. In any event that kit is in the future for me anyway
  21. Yes i went out and bought those paints a little scale model lightening is good the model is gorgeous. In the airport in Charlotte they have a huge Preddy display with multiple models including a 1/4 scale one i recall. He is a hometown hero
