  1. Hmm, come to think of it I think you might have Hacker. I haven't had a chance to dig through everything I've gathered yet. I've really only just pulled this one out of mothballs and set it on the stove. I haven't lit the burner yet... Kev
  2. Thanks Matty. The first thing I'm not sure about with this conversion is where to cut the two fuselages in order to transfer the UMI 'hump' to the Hasegawa fuselage. The other parts in the UMI conversion seem OK, so I'll be able to use the rear cockpit parts and the canopies. I'll be putting some Airscale instrument decals to good use too! But I'm always happy to scrounge extra bits to save me having to scratch build them. I know I'm doing this the hard way, but don't I always? Kev
  3. Lovely build Iain! I'm really impressed by the restrained-but-effective surface detail on this kit. And your ability to completely hide all that red plastic! Kev
  4. Of course! That's why we introduced this forum. Gives us all an outlet for our non-LSP stuff without having to go elsewhere (not that there's anything wrong with that of course!). Kev
  5. Thanks John. You know, I thought about that one, especially after I looked at it in overall silver. It wouldn't take much to get there from here, but I've got my heart set on the Avia now, and dithered long enough about it! Kev
  6. Joe, your armour stuff is really terrific! Kev
  7. Link away Jamme. As long as this shop is not in breach of any established distribution agreements, I don't see a problem with making it public. Kev
  8. Well, this must be one of the longest WIP threads in history without any Work ever being In Progress! It's a year since I looked at this project, but with the 262 in the home stretch, I've decided to drag it off the shelf of shame and get the ball rolling again. The plan at this stage is to use the old-tool Hasegawa kit, the rear fuselage 'hump' and various details from the UMI set, and a bunch of my own rubbish to help bring things up to scratch. No idea on markings yet, or even a solid plan of action. So far I've sanded off the raised detail from the main components of the Hasegawa kit and done a quick test-fit: Looks OK, but that's relatively meaningless at this early stage. One thing I'm not happy about, though, is the shape of the gun bulges at the wing roots: I can't remember - are they even required on the 190S? If they are, any suggestions for making them look less...stupid? Anyway folks, this will be a slow build, and one that I'm not going to rush. I would, however, like to finish it by June next, for the Aussie equivalent of the Nationals. Thanks for looking! Kev
  9. Righto folks, a quick update on the painting progress. This model probably isn't the best choice for an all-silver finish, as it's nowhere near as flawless as it needs to be. It's had 2 coats of Tamiya AS-12 so far, and I'm still finding and fixing flaws. It's amazing how stuff you can barely even feel with your finger tip shows up like the Grand Canyon under a coat of silver paint! Anyway, some photos: The last one shows the worst of the remaining flaws, along the fuselage centre line, just behind the wing join. Once they're all taken care of to my satisfaction, the entire thing will get a polish with a buffing sander and/or Micro Mesh pads, and then it's on to the stickers! Kev
  10. Thanks John, appreciate the link. I'm aware of those decals, but I'm trying to make something with what I already have - plus, I'm out of time and money on this project! The Avia will at least look unusual. I'd really like to know the veracity the two Luftwaffe schemes on the SuperScale sheet though. Kev
  11. That's another awesome build of an old kit mate. Terrific! What did you use for the silver finish? Kev
  12. Crikey, that's an awesome build of that old clunker! Gives me great hope for mine when I get to it. Kev
  13. I'd just like some decent drawings of a Harrier Gr.1 so I can turn my Revell kit into one! Kev
  14. Wow, I'm kinda surprised that nobody's been able to offer any clarifications here. In the absence of such, and with a pressing need to move on, I've decided to go with the Avia scheme (there you go Martin!). It'll be a difficult scheme to make interesting though, as it's basically overall silver paint with only a few markings. Thank Yoda for the red lightning bolt! I'm just finishing up all the minor repairs and corrections, and I should be able to get some silver on it later today. More soon. Kev
  15. Fantastic work Christian! Pardon me for saying so, but it looks like a toilet. Kev
  16. Wow, Matty's on a roll! Looks awesome mate, very nice indeed. Kev
  17. As it happens, the only corroborating evidence I can find for the above version of Heinz Arnold's aircraft is in fact the image I posted. Everywhere else shows only his famous 'yellow 7' mount. I really need some experten advice here guys! In the absence of some verification of these Luftwaffe schemes and colours, I may end up going with the Avia after all. Kev
  18. Well, I've been all over the Internet, and gone through every one of my books on the subject, and I can't find a single piece of corroborating evidence for SuperScale's rendition of Galland's 262. I know, I know, I should have researched all this well before arriving at the painting stage! I'd actually be prepared to go with what the SS sheet suggests, but I can't make head nor tail of the atrocious painting instructions, so at this stage I'm ruling it out. So, Galland option is out, and 'white 3' is out due to the yellow whites on Hasegawa's decals. The SuperScale sheet has one more Luftwaffe option - Heinz Arnold's machine: But I still don't know what colour it's supposed to be! The SuperScale sheet says "Brown top"...RLM81 Braunviolett? Kev
  19. That looks amazing Jeroen. Your crew figure is unbelievably well done! Kev
  20. Hey Matty, you finished one? Wow, I'm confused, perplexed, unsettled even. And impressed! Great job. Kev
  21. You've lost me William. I haven't seen anything in this thread, by anyone (staff member or otherwise) that could be construed as remotely antagonistic, argumentative or otherwise ill-intentioned. As Radu notes, it was all a bit of light-hearted banter. Did I miss something? Kev
  22. Actually I think I read it wrong Brian. I just saw "nose high" and conflated that in my head with spindly landing gear and too-short doors. Must learn to read properly... Kev
  23. I've got the bottom primed now, and it's in much better shape than I thought. Some minor touch-ups only. The wing trailing edges aren't great though, so I'm trying to decide if I can be bothered fixing them. In the meantime, yet another question for you good folk. I've decided I'll build Galland's machine, and save the Avia for another build. The Hasegawa decals ostensibly represent one of Galland's aircraft, but as already noted in this thread, it wasn't actually his, but rather, Franz Stiegler's (I can't actually confirm whether Galland ever flew this aircraft at all; the confusion seems to come from him having done a photo shoot with it). In any case, I'm using an old SuperScale sheet, rather than the kit decals, and it shows Galland's machine bearing the markings of "- + ->". I can't find any corroborating evidence for that either, but I'm prepared to take it on face value (and I'm prepared to be told it's wrong, too!). My main question concerns the paint scheme itself. The SS painting diagram is horrible, and describes the top side colours as "Black-green and dark-green splinter on wing tops ... Dark gray blotches over light blue on fuselage". And it only supplies a horrible greyscale line drawing, from which I can discern precisely nothing. Surely the wings wouldn't be 70/71? Can anybody help clarify exactly what camo and markings this aircraft is supposed to be? Kev
  24. Keith, maybe the legs are too long; that would account for the high sit of the nose, and the too-short gear doors. A possibility? Kev
  25. Welcome to LSP Aviad! I don't think such models as you seek actually exist. You would have to commission someone to scratch-build them for you. Depending on the level of detail required, that could take years! And be very expensive. There are probably guys on LSP who could do it for you though, if time and money were no impediment. Kev
