  1. Thanks for the better photos Iain. Shows off your magnificent build to much better effect. Kev
  2. Such precise work Loic, you make it look so easy! If fact, your test assembly makes it look like an injection-moulded kit. Kev
  3. Just a quick note for all you guys who have placed an order since the end of October, and haven't received your sets yet. The resin parts are ready to ship, but we're still awaiting arrival or the photo-etched components, and obviously we can't ship the sets until they arrive! I'm reliably informed that shipments should be ready to resume next week, fingers crossed. Apologies for the delay folks. Kev
  4. Nope, can't be used for a P-40F/L at all mate. Sorry. Kev
  5. Nice start mate. And welcome aboard! Kev
  6. A great offer mate, and a timely one too, as there's somebody asking about custom decals in General Discussion at the moment. Kev
  7. Oh, by the way Jamie, I fixed your spelling of "decent" in the topic title. Kev
  8. Yep, there's virtually nothing out there in terms of mainstream injection-moulded kits. There's the Il-2 of course, but you're asking specifically about fighters. I guess kit manufacturers figure there's just no market for them. I'm a bit surprised that there hasn't been more attention from non-mainstream outfits (PCM, Montex, etc). Kev
  9. There's not a single set of any of the releases left AFAIK Keith. Sorry! Kev
  10. I see it this way too Harold. And with enough goodwill and mutual cooperation, there's no reason this cannot be the outcome. Kev
  11. Indeed it is, which is exactly what we're trying to accomplish behind the scenes. There's an opportunity here to turn an ugly situation into something that is satisfactory to all concerned, and could potentially result in a positive situation. But that's up to the two parties involved, and our various positions as stated in this thread really have no bearing on that. I'll do what I can to facilitate the situation, but the outcome is not up to me. I can only hope that Ra'anan is able to soften his umbrage sufficiently to allow the situation to move forward. I'm formally requesting that members cease from engaging in further commentary and speculation in this thread. When I get a chance, I will split it off at the point where it ceased being about Eric's Mirage build, and move the subsequent discussion to its own thread elsehwere. Kev
  12. I can't answer your questions Joe, but I'd like to welcome you aboard. Kev
  13. I certainly know what you mean about not wanting a failed experiment to derail all your good work on a model. I suggest you build a few models where the intent is to practice a particular finishing style or technique. Don't invest a lot of time on other areas of the build. If the experiment fails, strip it and start again, or move on to the next one. If you pull it off, you'll have a satisfying model. Either way, you will have learned something - always useful! Kev
  14. While Chris is a little disappointed with the responses here to the issue at hand, I have to say I've been just a little bit impressed with their overall civility, given the contentious nature of the discussion. That it's remained just that - a discussion - is laudable, no matter what your take on the issue itself. Sure, a couple of comments along the way have probably been out of line, but nobody's resorted to genuine hostility. My only remaining concern is that this discussion is playing out in the least appropriate of places, despite my request for it not to. Given what I've said above, I'm prepared at this stage to let the discussion, and all of its constituent comments, stand. However, we are working behind the scenes in an endeavour to resolve the issue to the mutual satisfaction of all parties concerned. This may not be possible, of course, but is certainly worth the effort. Kev
  15. Crikey that's good painting mate! Kev
  16. Hi folks, After a couple of days off, What's New returns with a terrific set of updates. Go check them out! Kev
  17. Bryan, while I don't doubt that your problem exists, I can't see any evidence of it in your photo. Can you point out the bubbles more specifically? Not that it matters much, as I have no solution for you in any case. Kev
  18. Nice to see some progress Matt! I'm going to use my half vac kit to make the leap between building a vac and scratch-building when the time comes. I just need to work on a few easier or simpler vac kits first! I can only offer you my humble tutorial on the subject in the tips forum. Kev
  19. Ah, yes. I was aware of that, but wasn't going to worry about it until after I sorted out the fit of the upper wings. They don't come close to meeting their lower counterparts at this point, so I'll have to remove lots of resin and plastic to make this happen - including all around the area of the cannon holes. Once I've got that sorted, I'll attend to those pesky holes. Thanks for reminding me Steve. Kev
