  1. Oh man, that was a nightmare! But I'm pleased to say that masking and painting the lower surface Coroguard panels is now done. It's far from perfect, but will certainly do as a shelf-sitter. Once I've dealt with a bit of overspray, it'll be on to the final stages of completion. Kev
  2. This is staggering work, Jay! Just unbelievable. That jig alone is a masterwork! Kev
  3. I think it's safe to move this one to General Discussion now! Kev
  4. Excellent paint work, Kels. For a moment, I forgot that you don't even use an airbrush! Kev
  5. Indeed it would. Even a vac kit at that size would have a bit of sticker shock about it! Kev
  6. Just be aware that his stuff is very pricey in 1/32 scale. I wanted to get his Electra kit in 1/32, but was quoted over US$400, not including shipping. Had to settle for 1/72 instead. Kev
  7. OK, back to this one now! I've just finished masking and painting the Coroguard panels on the upper wings and tailplanes: I used SMS Dark Gull Gray here, which turned out to be a pretty good match for the decals, though a tad lighter. Still have to do the lower surfaces, which will be an altogether more complicated process. Wish me luck! Oh, I elected not to repaint the engine pylons in light grey, as I realised after starting the masking job that it was going to be a lot more difficult than I thought, and really not worth the bother. Kev
  8. Acrylic paints are generally impervious to anything oil-based, and this includes enamels and oil paints themselves. In other words, if you've used Tamiya acrylics for your colour coats, you're good to go with either enamel or oil washes. If you're worried about the detail being too shallow to take the wash properly, just deepen it with a pin or scribing tool. Kev
  9. Sure, but isn't the fuselage silver/natural metal too? Kev
  10. That's interesting, Thierry, as I have that correction part somewhere, but never really took a good look at it. Kev
  11. Howdy folks, A day late, but I've just published the latest What's New update. Enjoy! Kev
  12. If it was cheating, I'd be doing it myself! Awesome work, Peter. Kev
  13. Today—31 March 2024— is the 7th anniversary of the public launch of KLP Publishing, and to celebrate, we’re having a 20%-off sale on all titles! Simply use the coupon code 7YEARS at checkout to receive 20% off the value of your shopping cart. That coupon code again: 7YEARS The sale runs for 7 days, and ends 7 April 2024. I’d like to thank all our customers and friends for a great 7 years, and especially for the amazing support we’ve received since taking KLP Publishing full-time in late 2021. We have many great titles planned for 2024, so stay tuned for more news and information as it comes to hand! Kev
  14. I've got that one on my wish list, but having just ordered a B787-900 to go with my newly-discovered ANA Star Wars decals, I thought I'd better pace myself a little! Kev
  15. Thanks, Derek. I'm not overly concerned with the result on this one, and just doing what I can, where I can. Already the dihedral is too flat, the wing incidence too high, and the engine pylons will most likely be too long. And in the end, it will probably look more like a caricature of the 757. But it's a great learning experience, and I'm sure I'll be able to take that to my next vac airliner builds. That said, if I could find a Zvezda 757-200 kit, I'd definitely hold the Ed Force One decals over for that! Then I wouldn't feel I was forced to "waste" them on a sub-standard model. I'd still finish this one, but using any old airliner livery I had to hand. Kev
  16. Great tutorial, Kels. Thanks for posting it! Kev
  17. Excellent update, Paolo! Looking really good now. Kev
