    Well Yay to me as I got the pink notice today that it does exist.
    There were four people in the house, yet no one knew of the attempt.
    Always nice on a Saturday too. The story continues...

    Hi Ralph,
    the instruction is a completely new design: clarifying and as far as I could notice mistakes are eliminated resp. not shown parts (in the DML variant) added.

    The fact that lots of us got it on sale at dragon for 28$ kinda took the hype away of a revell rebox

    The tailplanes are in the printer!  It will take about 9 hours to print a set.  I'll post photos shortly.

    Edit: the elevators and balance tabs (outer tabs) are separate parts to allow the modeler to position the elevators however one likes and accurately position the balance tabs to accurately complement the position of the elevators.  The trim tabs (inner tabs) will come fixed to the elevators in the neutral position.

    I ordered a Richtofhen Albatros at the beginning of the sale.  It arrived 7 days after it shipped from NZ (to East Coast USA).  I ordered two more that should arrive this week if that’s any indicator.  Kind of bummed b/c I wrestled between the E.I and E.IV, settling on the E.I.
    A day later, Sprue Bros offered the Immelman E.II cheap, so I got that, which is almost the same as the E.I...

    Once the package starts to leave New Zealand on its way to the US, that customs number will show up on the USPS website.  There are very few packages that the USPS won't track if it has a customs number.  Mine just popped up on their system today.  Hopefully, within two weeks, I should have it.  I would say they got bombarded and some of the larger boxes didn't make it out of the warehouse until the end.

    @b757captain Hi Mark,
    As you rightfully point out, the different colours do not degrade at the same rate, the tan more quickly than the greens.
    Furthermore the hues are also shifting. The tan loses a bit of red and veers to yellow. The dark green displays a violet tint in some photos. The light green becomes more olive.
    Anyhow your Voodoo is very, very nice and the colours you used very convincing.

    Hi Quang,

    I've been following your build on BM while I build mine (and you're doing a much better job than me!):

    I just finished decaling with weathering to go before a final flat coat so the colors to me don't look quite right yet, but to my eye every paint mfg mixes all three colors to the FS base standard or close and none seem to match the fade common to the SEA birds. From all the photos and videos I've seen (plus some less accurate eyeball memories up close) the colors seem to fade at different rates - i.e., the lighter colors fade faster than the darker colors. I normally use MM but this one was painted with Mr. Color (303, 309, 310) and I mixed white in with all three colors at different ratios until it looked right. I lightened the 34079 the least, 34102 more and 30219 the most.

    Maybe the color experts can chime in here, but it seems to me that colors closer to the infrared end of the light spectrum fade faster - colors with red, yellow, etc. in the mix. I'm probably wrong on that but I'm sticking to my theory for now

    Cheers,

    Mark

    For SEA schemes, I've always used Model Master paints, as the colors just look right to me.

    Here is older short thread on my long nozzles with very close pic of requested petal detail (weld marks of Titanium) and adding they
    are the correct diameter which in fact, you have to thin the kit diameter - adding realism as the outer lip seals are strip metal.
    The flameholder has the correct detail and better depth than can be offered in PE;

    phasephantomphixer got a reaction from Rick Griewski in Painting SHM Exhaust Inquiry
    Hey guys, I am posting a few photos of the Sierra Hotel Models 32nd J-79 Exhaust as I’ve had questions in regards of how best to paint and highlight the spot-weld detail on the nozzles. When I mastered these Exhaust nozzles I made sure to add the spot weld detail and edge strips to the outer turkey feathers as no aftermarket makers had represented this key feature which always stood out to me when I was an active duty Air Force Crew Chief on the Phantom.

    I found that Humbrol Metal Cote Gunmetal not only captures the metallic tint, if you lightly buff it, gives proper wear look.
    Here's raw unpainted part showing the added details.
