  1. Build looks to be going well and hope it gets finished in time for the show. Choosing to do it as a restored warbird has me wondering would that matter in the IPMS category it would be entered under? Would be one way to add another build to civilian category, etc.
  2. That is good news, a clean well executed windscreen clearly problematic, but I am experimenting and just need to find the right clear resin at this point. If that happens I can easily provide them, I would have to get it done for my -5 set anyways. Would be interested in a print of it if you want me to take it on.
  3. Great news Tim, Ray is a good person to correspond with on special projects. I also have the set here and the windscreen is the part requiring the most attention. Also luckily the Trumpeter -4 is still pretty available for a decent price. Anyone interested in this conversion should grab the kit now...
  4. Great way to show all the magnificent work too!
  5. Looks like effective weathering where the "change" was made to me. Nice to see the progress and to see you keeping at it. Hope to see more of it, thanks for sharing - looking great!
  6. The rectangular adhesive backed security magnet things inside CD's, DVD's, etc. have foil strips within that are excellent for any mirrors, taped down on surface for scribing against, or to reinforce a small area when overlaid with superglue. Just cut with scissors.
  7. Early Revell boxing as it has no tail fillet - one less thing to deal with. Unless the conversion includes that area...
  8. Nice finds, toughest to find info. on are the two pods carried by the N/AW-A-10 FLIR and IR. One was Texas Instruments, and Westinghouse IIRC. The photos were always in shadow. Someone said the A-4 carried one, but not found much further. Would like to find photos dismounted, or dimensions.
  9. Amen, Thanks for asking as it saved me the trouble - some great photos, and like the color blending - very subtle transition!
  10. Yes, thanks for the posting BUT you did get me for a sec. thinking "Oh geez, not Witchcraft!"
  11. Congratulations and good they got a proper home. Would sure like to see either completed "as boxed" here someday. A nice finish to the story with the good deal he gave you justified!
  12. A well tooled correctly shaped D in 1/35 or 1/32 would be good for everyone, us and them! Would hope for gunship & MEDEVAC options.
  13. Ah, know that one well - even back in the day it would influence my WNW orders! Was best to buy multiples for combined savings.
  14. As usual I didn't write my post proper, one of my Constitution kits has no hull halves. But if I was so lucky, would be most pleased to locate a USS United States hull! Doing those tones in color really looks great, and the clean masking does a lot for scale. Looks great Ernest. With all that copper I am considering as you said, "adding interest" by spraying into cap, and brushing up a few select and varied panels as well as a light wash for some depth even as new replacements. Nice work, things moving forward - important with such an endeavor.
  15. Priced $249.99 https://spruebrothers.com/hkm01e05-1-32-hk-models-b-17e-b-17f-flying-fortress/
  16. Not sure of the other boxings but the HEER version had nice figures, decent decals too. But not $120 nice...
  17. Will also be following this one. Didn't go for stacks of AM yet, but have a couple of these and Cutty Sark. One kit I saved from Seattle Goodwill which is complete EXCEPT the hull halves. I keep a look out for them, never know... I agree it best to decide a time period, also considering using the vac kit sails as templates or bucks to drape thin glue soaked material on. Also want to build one underway and angled in rough seas. Appreciate the coverage of the steps required of this kit, and hope it emboldens the connection to your past.
  18. Would rather wrestle an ill fitting kit than measure, restructure, modify a misshapen kit.
  19. The wings again get their shape problems from Trumpeter's use of the ancient 1/48 Tamiya kit as their reference. This is revealed by the almost Pontoon shaped MLG sponsons. Unless someone beats me to it (hoping someday...) I plan to entirely scratchbuild a set. Luckily you are doing yours gear up, so shape them as you see them. They are more slender, and taper downward as a start. One note with gear up, the main gear door has a darker appearing square aft end which is just accumulated weathering as it is usually tucked into gear bay when gear down. And the small square you mention prior page (only on port wing LE) has a small metal tab sticking out which at pitch up, activates or opens the inboard slats, increasing airflow to engines when the wing is blocking airflow. This tab is bumped to check it's function (kicking out slats) during crew chief preflight procedure. I agree, you should close flaps and fill-tighten where needed. HTH
  20. Agreed both are roaches, but for this thread I was thinking correct boxing for the Vietnam war. Did the NVAF fly both types during the war? If so, would then consider timeline.
  21. For VNAF I was directed to Trumpeter #02210 Mig-21 F-13 Fishbed E review here; https://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/tru/kit_tru_2210.shtml Now curious how different the cockpit was for the early type as only AM set I have is BB.
  22. Looking nice - sure is some kit, hope your sensible assembly approach goes well.
  23. Thanks for the note, I do have some sets but yet to use them. Wonder since vinyl if carefully applying heat would soften the belts enough when bending? Very carefully of course!
