  1. Absolutely beautiful! I wish I could get a finish that smooth and perfect!
  2. Great job! Now you've done it! I know what my next build will be! Great work all around. Leo
  3. Wow! Looking great! I have never had the skill to make decals look great, so the rise of masks has been such a great thing for me. I try to use them for most everything now, and I'm really anxious to try those HGW wet transfer stencils! I hope they come out with a set for the 110!
  4. Oh man, this would be awesome! All I would need is the nacelles, the canopy correction and maybe a modified nose with some armament options! I'm shooting for a mid to late war day fighter with the rocket tubes. Here is my modified cockpit ready to go.
  5. Wow, those slats look great! I have an old reference book that showed a mixed bag on the slats drooping while parked. Some did, others didn't. I woder why? Although some of our older 737's have drooping inboard leading edge flaps that droop almost immediately after parking. So maybe leaky seals or something. In any case, it looks awesome. Will you drop the flaps as well? Did you have any other photos you didn't publish of the slat process? Kind of a tutorial in case I decided to do that with mine? Not sure I'm up to the skill level, but it makes a really nice addition. Leo
  6. I just finished my -N model and indeed they are in the kit. In fact, I used the hub cap ones and could send you my spoked ones if you like. However, you'll have to tell me how to ship from the US to Scotland. Leo
  7. Thanks guys! Yes, the access is through the back in the basement utility room. Absolutely Kevin, I would be honored! I wish I could take better photos. It's funny that the ones from my iPhone are almost better than with the DSLR. User error, I'm sure!!!
  8. Thanks, Jin I just posted the finished product on a new thread. Thanks for looking!
  9. Thanks for all the encouragement guys! Definitely helps keep the juices flowing. Well here it is, Hasegawa's 1/32 P-40N painted with Tamiya paints using masks from Montex. The construction was fairly straightforward. If you look at my WIP you'll see how I tackled the issues surrounding the tail plug. I'm not sure how to link that here, but if one of the moderaters is willing to do it, that would be great. The masks were a hurdle to me as I lacked the confidence to tackle the large vinyl nose mask. However, I eventually decided to go for it and it turned out pretty good. I will say that the black outline would be near impossible to do with the mask as I had to alter the original to conform to the complex shapes around the nose. So, in the end, I used a black artist ink pen to freehand it. I also used a little artistic license to paint the hub caps red. In the picture of the real aircraft, they used the spoked hub, but I thought using red on the hub caps would look cool with the bird head. So sue me! Thanks for looking, Leo The last photo is of my new built in display case. I think some of my problems with building were linked to the fact that I had nowhere to put completed models that would protect them from the four little gremlins I live with...
  10. Awesome work! Any tips? I've got one in the works, but decided to get other projects finished first. Leo. Ps. I like a little shine, makes it look more realistic under the right lighting.
  11. Believe it or not, it's just my iPhone 5c. I'm always surprised at how good the pictures turn out of my kids with it too! For airbrushing, I finally lost my patience with my Aztek (gummed up guts keeping the action from moving...again). I decided to try an Iwata HP-C+. So far I'm very impressed. Still figuring out my paint ratios and air pressures, but I definitely like it. And easy to clean!
  12. Quick photo update. Got the exhaust going and tried to replicate the fuel stain aft of the cockpit.
  13. Thanks Jim, Actually that's no decal. It's the Montex mask. Interestingly, I used an artist ink pen to do the black outline by hand and I think the difference in sheen actually gives it a "silvering" look around the edge in certain light. I'm confident the coming clear coats will even it all out. Leo
  14. Thanks guys! Today I got some more weathering done and sprayed the exhaust staining. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow.
  15. Thanks John, I'm just trying to get something/anything finished. I got scared off leading up to the parrot head fearing the results of using such a large vinyl mask over the nose. But I finally sucked it up and went for it and I'm very pleased with the results.
  16. Finally an update. All markings painted on so far with Montex masks.
  17. What paint did you use to achieve that wonderful gloss? Leo
  18. Great work Anthony! Question, do the external fuel tanks come in the HK kit? I will probably hold out for the later version, but I really want to do the USAAF photo recon bird with the red/orange tail! Leo
