  4. Hey Kev: I have a 1/72 IM kit of the Gannet, but your saying their is a 1/32 kit of this puppy ?? Really..? Must be a "cult" thing.. No thank's...time for another pint.. Cheers, ggc
  5. Rookie OK, maybey UGLY would apply to that ASW nightmare.. Weird would work too...! Cheers, ggc
  6. Gentlemen: I can think of a number of strange or weird French a/c of the 1930's... but , I don't know of many that have been kitted in 1/32... Lindberg is planning to reissue the GeeBee racer in 1/32, that one was weird, IMO....a/c...also, some of the Soviet a/c of the cold war period would also qualify, again in my opinion.... Perhaps we could compile a tentative list of those ugly,homely,ungainly(Ju-87), weird, etc. a/c that are available in 1/32....then, those wanting to do the GB could pick from the list..unfortunately I don't think there are too many "ugly ducklings" available in 1/32. Of course one man's ugly is another's sweetheart...so getting a consensus may be difficult... On my list would be (w/o regard to scale) , Ju-87, Ju-52, H.P.42,Bloch MB-200,Douglas C-133A,Antonov An-22. per W@ebster: Ugly: 1. frightful, dire,...2. offensive to the sight, offensive to the other senses, 3. morally offensive.. 4. a. likely to cause inconvenience or discomfort, b. surly or quarrelsome. Weird: 2. strange, odd, fantastic... Strange: 1. Foreign, 2. unfamilar, reserved or distant, I'm not sure that any of these definitions are helpful in describing the focus of such a group build...I suppose if you are on the receiving end of weapons delivery from any a/c you might consider it as Ugly... If an a/c is constructed in such a way that is "unconventional" to you, you might say it is Weird... or, if the a/c is unfamiliar or not of your alliance you might call it Strange.... Was this thought provoking or just provoking..? Cheers, ggc
  7. Me too...I have been doing some work, I'm missing the control stick and have been doing some research on XIII cockpit and engine details, the Revell kit is quite simplified...I'm trying to resist the urge to add too much additional detail as my goal here is to complete this model somewhat like I may have done in 1969,, ...however, I won't be using sewing thread for the rigging... ...IMO the SPAD XIII is a cool looking a/c...this one is carring Lt.Frank Luke's markings and for us AEF history buffs makes it more meaningful.. I'm almost done with the Vulgarian comic Ni-11...and the SPAD will share the workbench with the Under 50 GB Phantom Mustang... Hope to get them all done... Cheers, ggc
  8. Ron: Very nice indeed..! Cheers, ggc
  9. C.63: Did you miss any of the aftermarket sets/goodies for this build..?? this will be a pricy bird when finally completed... me thinks... Cheers, ggc

  13. Yes, this kit IS a trip down memory lane, there will be alot of good build time on this one... also, I've included a pic of the 1974 Monogram kit insert showing their 1/32 model kits...a simplified P-51D was available at that time in silver plastic w/o the interior parts...the decaks were post WWII USAF markings....the Grumman Bi-Planes were cool also....unfortunately the ol cpn traded away his copies of them years ago Cheers, ggc
  14. Yes, I'll be using Future to coat the clear parts...as some say....." I'll be takin' a shine to this puppy...!" Cheers, ggc
  15. More pics of the Monogram 1/32 Phantom (visible) Mustang P-51D kit: Cheers, ggc
  16. Hi Gents: Here is a pic of the Phantom Mustang box art. Later I will post selected instruction pages, parts trees, and a Monogram flyer kit insert from 1974 showing the LSP planes in the Monogram catalog in 1974.The Phamtom Mustange is there but with post WWII decals. Also the 1/24 Huey helo. The model I'm building was reissued in 1995. I'm looking forward to putting this one togeather with some additional detail painting and the working features will certainly be a walk down memory lane.. I'm hoping to get started on this before the month is over... Cheers, ggc
  17. B.Kev...looking good..! You are the Rocket Man.... Komet Cheers, ggc
  18. Dear John: very nice looking Komet.... Cheers, ggc
  19. Vulgarian Update: Comic Ni-11 approaching completion Cheers, ggc
  20. Sir Steve: Roger that...speaking of float planes I've been restoring a "QueenFisher" (twin float Kingfisher) that formerly served with the Royal Navy and later with the Argentine Navy...this particular a/c might be a good fit for a Vulgarian subject...this particular a/c has been in the salvage hanger lo these many years just waiting an opportunity to be re-born... Cheers, ggc
  21. All Hail Vulgaria..! Sir Stephen I await the proper markings to properly identify another warrior a/c from the Vulgarian Flying Corps. I have some additional detailing/assembly but the final assembly including rigging and final weathering for the comic Ni-11 can't happen until I receive the Vulgarian markings and get them on the model... Next up is the S.P.A.D. XIII in 1/28 for the Stalled/Incomplete G.B. Waiting by the mailbox ...... Cheers, ggc
  22. johng: Good hunting eh?, it's great to re-discover things when digging through the stash...is yer Mseesachnitzel built or still in kit form..?? During a recent "forensic" trip through my pile of started but stalled projects I found the long missing main gear door parts for a P-40B stuck in a P-39D box... , I knew they were somewhere.... Generally I rarely throw anything out, (even have box's of clipped sprue saved)...now I'm even saving resin cut offs... Collecting Cheers, ggc
  23. Weathering looks good, but the large boxy under fusalage store looks a little out of scale... Roger, "copy that" Cheers, ggc
  24. SO real, so HOT..!! Well done...!!! Cheers, ggc
  25. Brief Update on the Vulgarian Ni-11...right lower wing re-attached (epoxy this time) and some rear tail strut detailing....some more decaling coming up as well as the attachment of the upper wing and some rigging... PS Steve----still waiting with rapt anticipation for the official Vulgarian markings.... TIA Cheers, ggc
