Thanks, Tom. I tend to prefer a build log like you're doing to a video build. More detail on what's going on, more comments, and more chance to study the images. Good luck with the Lanc!

I recently got this kit and am looking seriously at getting started. This build looks like a great one to follow. Any updates?

I don't know, the hook is a separate part. As long as they have the original under-fuselage section in the box too (and it looks like it is from sprue shots I saw elsewhere), I shouldn't think it would be too hard to work up. I may find out, as I've always liked those particular markings!

I've ordered the Gladiator Mk.II (along with an IBG P.11C) from Hannant's and am eagerly awaiting their delivery. While I wait, I'm reading all these threads on the kits, which only makes my patience grow less! But in reading this one, I was suddenly struck with a thought. (Warning, thread hijacking ahead!)

I'm afraid it's become increasingly clear that Wingnut Wings has breathed its last. I've seen some discussion elsewhere as to what will happen to their molds. Given the great success of ICM's 1/32 releases, it seems to me that they would be a pretty fine candidate to carry on WnW's legacy. What do you all think?

No, the Israeli CJ were externally similar to the French ones (same engine and guns). They were modified later when they got the Atar 9C.

For me, I'm not getting all ridden with angst because either my favourite subject hasn't, or some EXPERT says WON'T, become available as a kit. If one turns up, wonderful. If not, I can either knuckle down and build my own, or pick something else from my stash. I understand the manufacturers are not picking their kit subjects just to pee me off, any more than they are deliberately making 'errors' in their products to make me cry and throw my toys out of the pram. They pick as best they can, and do the best they can, and if I am passionate enough about the subject I can treat any problems as opportunities to push my model making skills, and derive plenty of enjoyment from that.

I am not waiting for any of those particular subjects, because those particular subjects don't float my boat. If they do appear in the shops, I will rejoice for those who are excited, and be happy that their sales will hopefully lead to other kits, that may, or may not, be of interest to me.

It must be extraordinarily disheartening for manufacturers who generally do an amazing job with their output, to have whinging about the most piffling of problems without some balancing praise and appreciation for the rest of the kit. It happens all the time.

I am thrilled that there will be a Mirage III, it is an iconic aircraft, and if it sells well there are plenty of other subjects it might lead to, including a Mirage IV. Look at what kits we have RIGHT NOW, which only a year or two ago, would have had the naysayers laughing im derision at such stupid suggestions. Well, who is laughing now. Felixstowe, Lancaster, Do 335, and yes, even Mirage III.

We live in amazing times for this hobby. For goodness sakes, can't we just enjoy it?!

Matt, I hear ya', but I also think that some find it annoying when X is announced that a bunch of us immediately jump in and say one of the following:

    "That's stupid, I don't care about the X."

"Wow, that's nuce, but it would be REALLY GREAT if the Y were coming out."

"Whine, whine, whine, why haven't they released a 1/32 version of ____________________ (fill in some obscure aircraft that the poster personally loves and can't understand why companies aren't rushing to put it out for him and the three other people who would buy it)."

    Just sayin'.

Italeri is bringing out a Mirage III. That's great news. I hope Eli will bring out some IDF AF decals for the Mirage aces to support this release.

Why does it hurt to be optimistic? Is there really a need to point out the tiny chance we have of getting these kits produced? Can't we just have our wishes and dreams without them getting rained on?

Well, even if Italeri IIIC is not better than the F-104, I'll be happy as this is far better than any current solution! And I can say the same for the Kinetic kit!

Moreover, I'll wait for the plastic sprues before complaining about the probable quality of kits for which we do not now if the first mold has been cut!

Wait and see. The sun is already brighter for Mirage lovers than it was one week ago...

Shahak!!! Sign ME up for sure! I'm definitely on board for a classic '67 MiG killer Mirage, and maybe one or two more (depending on if/when the later Atar conversion becomes available).

And given how long I've wanted a IIIC in 1/32 scale, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now. Just hope it doesn't take years to materialize!

Well folks, the Meteor is done! The mini-me(teor) that is...

I found a set of 1/72 roundels in my decal stash that looked the part, though slightly oversized. No hope for the fuselage roundels or fin flashes, so I've left them off. The stand is the one supplied with the kit, and the fit is so good that there was no need for any glue. The top of the clear plastic rod ends in a ball that press-fits into a cavity underneath the model, and this allows the model to be posed in a variety of ways. Pretty cool.

Michael Satin got a reaction from A340 Pilot in PCM Tempest corrections from PCM
Well, the promised corrections to the Pacific Coast Tempest V arrived today, free of charge. The two major fit issues I've read about here and elsewhere were the short chord spinner with too small openings for the prop and the radiator inserts that were too big. They've sent fixes for both in the same package.

Here are the spinners, the new one on the right. The prop openings are noticeably taller. Harder to tell is that the spinner is actually a bit shorter. Don't know if this is a small accuracy correction?

Here are the new radiator inserts, new ones at the top. They are clearly smaller in diameter. Harder to see is that they now have mesh molded on so you don't have to use the etched pieces included with the kit, which will now be too big. Nice touch, though the etched pieces are still nicer if you feel like trimming them.

No new wheels, but that doesn't really affect buildability. So, nice move on PCM's part. Thanks Mary Ellen and Ken, for thinking of your customers!

Color photo etch and clear parts. Completely unable to get a clear shot of this, absolutely operator error, not the kit's fault. Finally found out what those odd wing-root shaped clear parts are. They are drop tank pylons! The instructions say these were actually clear plastic on the real aircraft. Yet to check references on this, but no reason to doubt them at this time.

Pretty typical modern PCM/Sword kit. Am I happy about it? Hell yes!
