  1. And then there is this one that may appear at some point... (scroll down to kit 02288) http://www.sonicmodel.com/photo.htm?url=ht...s/23_126704.jpg Cheers, Doug
  2. Looks great so far Les! I'll be watching to see how you do the rigging on her Cheers, Doug
  3. I take TC's reviews with the proverbial "grain of salt". My guess in this case is that the issues may have been caused by the builder, rather than the kit as others that are building, or have built the kit have not noted these massive problems. Also, he did get the kit for free BTW, as Hobbylink Japan provided it for him (as noted at the end of the rant-review). Cheers, Doug

    F4B-4

Thanks guys! Light grey interior it is. I have the squadron book, but thanks for the offer nonetheless Mike Les, thanks for pointing the exhaust out, in looking at the photos, looks like most of them have the collector from VF-6 as you stated. I will have to see if I can covert/scratchbuild this easily and I may still try to do it, or else will have to keep looking for a VF-6 F4B-4 bird without the collector or pick other markings! Going to see if I can find some decent reference shots of what the exhaust collector should look like... Cheers, Doug

    F4B-4

Ok, now that I am about finished with a Gladiator rigging experiment for another GB, time to start on my Hasegawa 1/32 F4B-4 kit for this GB! All the parts (not that many really): I am planning to do this one pretty much OOB, and will use the Yellow Wings decals (plan now is to do "black 10" of "Fighting Six"). Trying to determine the cockpit color to get going, from the few references (squadron book) it seems that the P12E is natural metal, and the photos I have of the restored F4B at Pensacola show a light grey cockpit - is this correct? Still sorting out how I plan to do the rigging, put the wires into the fuselage first, and then drill some holes to extend them outside the upper and lower wings to pull tight, or stick them into the wings and then later into the fuselage and then tighten fishing line wires with a match... Cheers, Doug
  6. Question - I was under the impression that the Marine SDB-1's were all NM interiors, is that correct? Beautiful work on your model so far BTW!
  7. What happened to the in-progress pics??? Cheers, Doug
  8. The squardon books come up on eBay all the time (got my copies there), so that might be an option to help you find what you need Here is a link as an example for the squadron book ont he F4B/P12: http://cgi.ebay.com/Squadron-Signal-Boeing...A1%7C240%3A1318 There are also several "Buy It Now" options up right now as well. Cheers, Doug
  9. Excellent information Guttorm, thanks so much for taking the time to share it with us! Although I was probably going to purchase the kit anyways, your information has certianly pushed me over the edge to definately get one now that I understand all the effort that went into making it a very accurate Ju88 kit! Speaking of new models, I think the obvious choice for Revell would be a new 1/32 Hawker Hurricane Mk I to shoot at the Ju 88's! Cheers, Doug
  10. Yes, a real lack of "D" aftermarket sheets... I would love to get some Romanian markings for my "D" kit someday as well! Cheers, Doug
  11. Looking at the high-res pic, it seems to me that there is a slight distortion looking through the clear part where the frame would have been. This might indicate that the builder sanded it out. If so, the builder may have sanded it out to have a more accurate model, or may have done so at the request of Hasegawa because they made the correction in the production version of the kit. I guess we'll all know for sure when the kit hits the reviewers hands! Cheers, Doug
  12. I counted 9 panels between the inboard edge of the aileron and the start of the curved area in the center section on the P-Cola bird. Looking at the kit photos, I counted 6 panels in that same area. So it would seem that adding the aforementioned 3 panels in that area would make it correct! Now I just have to find a couple of those kits and I will be all set to build one! Cheers, Doug
  13. My recollection is that yellow cowls were for Okinawa as well! Cheers, Doug

As a former Marine, I'll have to vote for a USMC aircraft scheme!
  15. Excellent progress, looks like it will be a real beauty when it is done! Can't wait to get one when they become available
  16. It's amazing that this kit started out with some carved pine for molds! It's looking terrific and I can't wait until it is done so I can get a couple and build them! Have a great holiday Radu!
  17. Radu, Glad to see some progress again! Will this kit be a vacuform, or resin like the Ki61 and Ar324? Cheers, Doug
  18. YES!!!! It would seem all my pestering and non-subtle hints have paid off! Hopefully it's a kit, and I'll take two to start please, let me know when and where to send my $$$! Multsumesc!!!!!! Doug
  19. Fantastic work as usual Radu! Is that a crackle finish on your instrument panel? How did you do that? Cheers! Doug
  20. Impressive looking build indeed! Looking forward to seeing the finished product
  21. One of my favorite aircraft! Mine should be here next week (fingers crossed!) Moving house at the end of the month, so once I get set up in the new model pit, I plan to start working on this kit! Only wish that they had done better markings, like including masks for 43 squadron! Additional photos of the kit available from Montex's site: http://www.montex-mask.com/html/tools.htm Cheers! Doug
  22. Great news!!! I've really been looking forward to this kit, as the Fury is one of my all time favorite aircraft! Now I just have to figure out how to get one here in the US! I've sent an email to Patrick at Design Marketing Intl to see when he thinks they will arrive here! Photos of the kit available on his site here: http://design-marketingintl.com/product_in...products_id=521 Cheers! Doug
  23. I am really looking forward to the kit version being released. I agree with Tony Bell, that if anyone is going to get a Spit right, I would vote for Roy Sutherland! For those that want to pass on it, that's great, more for the rest of us Cheers! Doug
  24. I've always loved the Fury, and will definatley be grabbing up one of these when they come out!
  25. Not to hijack the thread, but is that a 240Z in your avatar coolie? Doug
