I could never get my enthusiasm up for the Trumpeter Harriers because they just don't look like the plane I saw in the papers and on TV. This one looks about right, and I might be sorely tempted to buy one.

Is it just me, or do the canopies on these GR3s look a bit too bulged and SHAR-like? The upper contour of the GR1/3 canopy is more or less a straight line from the top of the fuselage.

Sinister AI overtones aside, I enjoyed seeing the fake photo too. It's as if Trumpeter had kitted the GR.3, which made me chuckle. Really looking forward to buying several SHARs, but will be very happy to get started on Revell's regular green-grey and snowy GR.3s.

The pre-order limit of 100 has not quite been hit yet, but it won't be long before it is. I really hope I can get them out before Telford, but if not, it should be shortly after

If you sanded the dome headed rivets absolutely smooth there would be nothing holding the fuselage skins onto the frames underneath!

The Sporting Life was both an American sports newspaper and a British one. The American one folded in 1917 and the British one in 1998. Generally, when my Grandad was landed with any vehicle that was less than polished up he prescribed (tongue in cheek) 'A swift rub down with The Sporting Life' as a panacea for all presentational ills. I realised he was not serious when, at 18, I managed to get myself an MGBGT is very dilapidated condition that I planned to restore (and did though it took 2 and half years) - Grandad looked at the heap in the garage and offered his customary appraisal.  So it became something of a family in joke for anything that needed fixing.

I too put my money down...  The question is, just how long will it take to get from pre-order to "shipped".  Shipping was less than I expected.  When it gets here, it will be a clear-the-bench moment.

First post in several weeks; I have been working away from home since 31 August and don't return until 10 October.  Working seven days a week for nearly 6 weeks straight is a bit of a bummer; however the good news is that I am pulling down some good pay for this special gig which allowed me to pull the trigger on the Airscale Do17  less then an hour ago!  I'll even be able to tell the lovely Frau Roth what I spent on the kit without her twitching too much given the money windfall she is going to get from this payout!  😀 😄🤙  This is turning out to be a double win for me - I get a "grail kit" without having to figure out how to keep my bedroom from suddenly resembling a monastery for several weeks!
 
I'll get cracking on my M1A2 build to finish it when I return home which will free up the bench in time for the "Flying Pencil's" arrival. 
 
Miss you guys and it will be nice to return to one of my pleasures in life when I finish this little job!

Interesting points Nick, and I certainly agree about the pfaff if you want a closed Spitfire door, it was a PITA on K5054 and I’m still not 100% happy with what I have achieved! 
 
I have the PR-A kit in the stash (No.33 ) so I will shortly be doing marking and cockpit masks for that one, initially for my own use, but if anybody else is interested I can cut some for a cost effective price.

You can actually do these with no masks.  The decals are perfectly good.  They are thin and settle into the detail.  Even the raised rivets on the fuselage.  What I did was the gloss, decal, gloss, then flat coat.  When I applied the decals especially the fuselage roundels I used microset under the decal first then used a qtip to work the solvent out and work the decal down, I may have used a hair dryer as well.  Then applied more microset.  I did not use any micro sol.  No aggressive solvents were needed.  
 
Masks may not be the ideal answer as on the fusilage there is a lot of raised detail and there is significant risk of spray going around where you don't want.  

Are you just talking about markings, ie roundels and serials etc Rowen, or something a little more complicated like canopy masks? I produce a few custom masks so could help you out if needed.

Well, that piqued my interest. S/Ldr (39029) Marmaduke Thomas St John ‘Pat’ Pattle DFC and Bar (pilot) RAF, from wiki; "Pattle was provisionally credited with 50 air victories (and two shared), seven (and one shared) probable victories, and four (and two shared) damaged.", which would make him the highest scoring RAF pilot in WWII.
