A340 Pilot reacted to KOG7777 in HK B-17F
I'm pretty sure there will never be another 1/32 plastic B-17F from another company. At least not while I'm alive. And I DO want to build a big B-17F. So I will get the HK kit. I don't think I'll lose any sleep over the small discrepancy in the nose shape. When I see a real B-17F, I don't think to myself 'gosh I really want to model the shape of that area of the nose to precision because it's just such an amazing nose shape'. I'm looking at the overall size and design of the aircraft, and thinking about all the great markings it wore. Having a huge B-17F in my display, parked next to all the little 1/32 Mustangs and Lightnings and Thunderbolts, even WITH a small shape error, is worth a lot more to me than NOT having a large, detailed B-17F parked next to my fighters and other smaller aircraft.
That's my viewpoint and my decision... others are free to make whatever choice feels best to them.
I say: bring it on HK. One of these and one of the Lancasters will be added to my collection. And I plan to keep harping on about the B-24 until someone makes one, haha.

A340 Pilot reacted to Bill M. in HK B-17F
Yes, I remember researching this issue with the B-17G kit and concluded that the problem was negligible. If it still bothers you, it seems that correcting it would certainly not be an impossible undertaking to an experienced modeler. Regardless of whether this is corrected or not, it won't stop me from buying the kit.

A340 Pilot got a reaction from shbemo13 in Review: KittyHawk Model 1/32 F-86K "Sabre Dog"
No problems at all!
I checked both kits yesterday, and you can x-kit the wings. For those of you planning to build a Norwegian A.F. K be advised that with" the big-wing" K, the original seat was exchanged for a Martin Baker Mk. 5 seat. The color instructions tells you to paint the undersides gray, but that was not the case with the Norwegian K's

A340 Pilot got a reaction from Harold in Martin Baker Mk. 5 Ejection seats
I just googled Martin Baker Mk.5, and the Martin Baker homepage appeared. There's a photo of the seat. But judging from the Sola seat, they (MB) may only show an early seat and not necessarily a Mk.5 as fitted to the Norwegian planes. I have been in contact with the Armed Forces Aircraft Collection at Gardermoen. I'll drive there and check in the near future.

I'll be using it for my R.No.A.F. F-86K.

Jennings:
Royal Norwegian Air Force retrofitted the MB 5 in their T-33's simultaneously with the F-86F, F-86K and RF-84F.
The -86's also received the larger "F-40" wing and Sidewinder capability in the same time frame.

Zero:That's the type of Mk.5 I'm looking for! The GRU series are U.S. Navy specific seats for specific a/c types. The Mk.5 I'm looking for is closer to the Mk.4.
And it is very different from the Mk.5's used in the F-4 and F-8.

A340 Pilot reacted to Jan_K in 1/32 Hawker Tempest
The PCM is done by another Czech company... SWORD. I have no clue why it has to be exported to US and then reimported to EU with all the douane fees... after circling around the globe twice it costs more than Taymia.
The SH Tempest was taking shape VERY slowly, but now first sprues are being made.... http://www.mpmkits.net/2015/06/tempest-132-prvni-vylisek-cire-dily.html
Let's hope there will be the complete kit available before Christmas.

A340 Pilot reacted in Something really big
I´ve got my 1/18 Arado 234 from HPH, it´s completely new, so the quality is much better than my 1/18 Ta-152, which was made from old patterns and moulds.

A340 Pilot got a reaction from Derek B in New 1/32 F-4K/M (FG.1/FGR.2) Phantom kit announced by HKM
This made my day!
I'll definitely acquire an RAF version, and if the J-79 emerges as an F-4B, I'll have a further 2 kits!

Spey Phantoms for the win!!

A340 Pilot reacted to Derek B in New 1/32 F-4K/M (FG.1/FGR.2) Phantom kit announced by HKM
Jennings might be in a better position than I to answer that question, but I am personally hoping that it will be an F-4B, as apart from a very elderly Revell rendition, it has not been produced as a current version by any other IM kit manufacture and I think that it would be an important variant.
Cheers

This is Phantastic news. Apart from both British Phantom aircraft variants (F-4K/M, or FG.1 and FGR.2), it looks like HKM will also be producing a new US J-79 powered variant as well.
Let the good times roll!

A340 Pilot reacted to JamesHatch in HK Lancaster
Lanc is delayed, possibly until Q1/Q2 2016.
The reason is that an extensive number of shapes have needed correction, with these needing to be finalised before the interior detail can be designed. One area of contention was the nacelle shapes. This is a main point of correction at the moment.
The Lanc really is unlike any regular kit release. Being a major project, this needs to be right, or as close as it can be, before release.
I know you'll understand. It will be worth the wait.....

A340 Pilot reacted to Lancman in HK Lancaster
Those guys at HK are teasing us, they changed their Facebook page image to the Lanc so I had to leave a comment and they replied with this
Hong Kong Models Co Ltd We are sorry for the delay of project. As we have some problem on R&D stage, where we couldn't have good enough information to carry on. Massive thanks to enthusiastic modeller and friends who provide the information and drawing we needed. That I am happy to tell. Lancaster is on the way. We will keep you update. Thanks.

Furthermore, both types of exhaust shrouds, early and late, are included in the first release of the kit. They are not used for any of the options provided. Sooo... a"car door" Version is definitely on it's way in the, hopefully, not too distant future!
