  1. There's no way a Merlin would fit the Whirlwind without re-designing it into a completely new design. The heavier Merlins would shift the center of gravity too far forward, necessitating a fairly hefty stretch of the rear fuselage, new, bigger, radiators would mean a total redesign of the wing inner sections. And then there was that other Twin-Merlin design. Mosquito or what ever it was called! Stein
  2. Be advised that the F-86 engine is an axial flow type and not the centrifugal flow type used in the F-80/T-33. Stein
  3. No problem at all! Just walked right onto it! Got a new trip to Tokyo at end of January it seems. Stein
  4. Tight squezze, indeed! The Weapons Kit was quite large, as well. Stein
  5. I've seen a small thumbnail of the masters. Unable to determine whether it's a Dog or King. Hope it's a King! Stein
  6. I've got space for 5 of them, but then I would have to go looking for a bigger house! Stein
  7. Been there, done that! Tight squeeze in the bag, but I also managed to get the Armament Set as well. The USAF version will follow after the P-51D, and will probably be out late spring, early summer 2012. No final decision on the AD-5/A-1E yet. Stein
  8. Will do, but only after inquiring about their AD5/A-1E! BTW. The link in Mikesters post doesn't work. Stein
  9. Thanks for the info! Planning a Korean War Able Dog to go along a Trumpeter F4U-4. Stein
  10. Thanks! That means my biggest suitcase. The Tamiya P-51 was a tight squeeze in my medium one. Last time I walked down to Tam-Tam Hobbies and back. Didn't see Volks but found Yellow Submarine halfway between TT and the station. Stein
  11. I've got a trip to Tokyo this week-end, and am planning to acquire the Able Dog-kit. How large is the box? I have a gut feeling I have to bring my largest suitcase this time. And where is Volks Hobbies located these days? They used to be in the same building as Yellow Submarine until evicted due to the building being refurbished. I found YS in the neighborhood, but not Volks. Stein
  12. Photos I've seen show silver paint. This was the norm for U.S.A.A.C. planes of the period. Stein
  13. Here's another idea: What about the earliest Spit Mk. IX prop with symmetrical blades and "needle" tips? Stein
  14. Yes! I would definitely be happy with this prop set. Stein
  15. Hmmm...was it half a year (or more) ago that we saw some photos of a Trumpeter master for what looked like a Typhoon or Tempest? In the ensuing discussion there was doubt whether this was in 1/32 or 1/24th scale. Go on, the sooner you complete this conversion project, the sooner an injection Typhoon/Tempest will appear! Stein
  16. Two ordered, paid for and waiting! Stein
  17. No, just M's in general. Found some good photos on the littlefriends site. Stein
  18. O.K. so they were modified in England. But was this mod added after the planes had flown their first missions with 56th FG? Stein
  19. We're having a discussion on my local modelling club's discussion forum. Question is: Did the P-47M enter service with the dorsal fins or were they added at a later date? Stein
  20. I ordered 2. Waiting for them with anticipation! Stein Received and worth the wait! Now, find that link to the instructions...
  21. I read somewhere that Trumpeters late model P-38's have an issue regarding the shape of the props. If this is true, then maybe a set of correct blades/props? Stein
  22. Hereby ordered! With some other excellent stuff! Stein
  23. Hmmm...must bid a trip to Tokyo in December and acquire this kit! And bring an extra suitcase, as well! Stein
  24. Or e-mail Tamiya! Or Trumpeter! For the latter, Zactoman may have to re-do the canopy and intakes, though!
  25. Great forum! Had never heard about neither product, Richard. Must seek them out and buy! Stein
