  1. Hi Guys, Chango seems to be right. I found out yesterday from someone within the industry that Merit is indeed owned by Trumpeter. Rowen, the 1/18th scale SBD was being sold at a local model meet that I attended yesterday (IPMS Avon). I couldn't resist having a look inside the box. It's big and impressive. The quality of the moulding is pretty fine too. The design and layout of the instruction manual and colour sheet would seem to confirm that this is in fact from the house of Trumpeter. Here's a link to some shots of the sprues and instruction manual: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10220980 Just click on the thumbnails to enlarge the images. I have to admit, I tempted... Hope that helps. Cheers, Derek
  2. Hi Dave, This is a great thread! I too have this kit (unbuilt) and although it has its faults, I personally think it's a fantastic production! If you wanted to build your SE5a with a full engine, rather than the partial representation of the Wolseley Viper, as supplied in the kit, and were willing to make the necessary alterations/changes, "Model Art by Marco" produce an exquisite and complete 1/8th scale model kit of the Hispano Suiza engine - the other powerplant used in the SE5a. If you're up for it here's a link for you: http://www.modelartbymarco.com/ I bought one myself in preparation for my build and I can highly recommend it. It contains over 60 cast resin parts and detailed step-by-step instructions. A photo of the finished item is available on the website. Just a thought... Cheers and good luck! Derek
  3. Hi Dana, Thanks for the great advice! Yes the price did make me question whether the set was worth it. However, I am a sucker for detail and like you, even if the detail cannot be seen I still get satisfaction and enjoyment from knowing it's there! So, I think I'll take the plunge and buy a set! Thanks once again for your help. Cheers, Derek.
  4. Hi, I'm thinking of buying Eduard's "Big Ed" etched (Catalogue #: BIG3224 ) set for Trumpeter's Avenger and I was wondering if any of you guys have any experience or opinions on this particular set. Thanks in advance for your comments! Cheers, Derek.
