  1. +1 one - I have an Intruder in my stash which is jsut waiting for your conversion set!
  2. I love your stuff Ali - just a heads up: Reskit is working on a revised exhaust section and chances are high they will also do a corrected intake and canopy. Just to avoid you waste any resources...
  3. It's been a while since the last post in this thread. The arrival of my Mini 8K earlier this year sparked new interest in the carrier vehicles I've been designing since 2015. Again, my friend Thomas and I chose the same subject - the P-16. The files posted here in the thread many moons ago were refined to match the improved 3D printer capabilities. The model now features a cored through grille on top of the now complete exhaust (hardly visible on my model), a more detailed reel including motor and some small additional details. The model also features a working steering. The accessories on top are a mix of old Verlinden boxes (the small ones), Aerobonus (the big boxes), fire extinguishers and axe from REMJ and a file I found online - namely the small boxes behind the axe. The hoses are handmade, the hose connections were again designed by myself. The markings were painted using home made masks; some small stencils are still missing, but I have an idea how to solve this in the near future. Like so often, special thanks to Thomas Matzer for the machined parts and the PE grille - you rock! It was a fun little project and I am pretty happy with the result. I am still working on a driver figurine and I'm desperately wating for any manufacturer to bring out some firemen weating asbestos suits in the near future. I hope you enjoy it - comments and critique are welcome as usual!
  4. Did I mention none of my projects is ever forgotten? I consider the initial Skwarrior to be irrecoverable without an exceedingly high amount of work. The whole thing was a compromise anyway as it was based on a file I have bought back in the day. My CAD skills have improved a bit since and I have collected a ton of references, so I decided to start over again - pretty much as I did on the Greyhound. It has taken me some time to obtain a smooth fuselage, but now I am pretty happy with the basic shape. Next step is the wings, then I will start adding surface detail. The idea is to use as many existing parts as possible, such as the fuselage side blisters, engines etc. I have been thinking about the version I'd like to build and I think I am going to switch to the late version with the small canoe and all the lumps and bumps on the fuselage. We'll see. As you may have noticed, progress on my various projects is slow and irregular, as I jump back and forth between them - depending on my mood. Therefore, this model will only grow slowly and gradually - just like all the other ongoing projects.
  5. Ali, you may not want to copy the Revell parts as they are incorrectly shaped! The windscreen is way too flat and short and the main canopy has quite a few issues as well. Adapting the Tamiya clear parts would be a more interesting option as it would address one of the main problems of the Revell kit.
  6. Agree... it's even quite visible on the pic of the real a/c.
  7. Thanks Jim, that's a super kind offer which I gladly accept - I have already started mine and I am pretty sure I'll need a metal landing gear, but I'd love to have a closer look at your landing gear. Thanks Ali! That's 1mm if I remember correctly as quite a lot of sanding and polishing was required as you can see.
  8. Yes, it's a stencil font indeed. I sadly don't have any info on the P/C's name, I'm still looking for that one as well.
  9. Excellent work! Little heads up: the lettering in the air intake warning triangles is white in my opinion. Reminds me I need to finish mine as well...
  10. The end of the year is approaching, so I thought it was time for some glamour shots of my (record breaking!) third finished model of 2023: Brengun's 1/32nd scale MQ-8B Fire Scout which found a new home on a scratchbuilt LCS-3 flight deck. The figurines are from Reedoak, accessories like the little Tesla ground power unit, padeyes, all kinds of small boxes, the big red handles and small details like the pitot tubes and the tie down eyelets were CAD designed and 3D printed. The tie down tensioners are downloadable files from REMJ. My friend Christoph Wolfsberger was kind enough to print most of the small details on his Sonic Mini 8K - thank you very much, mate! The net frames are a mixture of 3D printed parts (the curved ones) and brass tubes from Albion Alloys Precision Metals. The nets themselves are made of onion bags from a belgian supermarket - special thanks to my good buddy Frederick Jacobs for eating tons of onions to make sure I get enough nets! I hope you enjoy the photos - please let me know what you think.
  11. You guys are right, it is time to get back to the Vigi. I need some Mojo first, though - redesigning the wings requires a ton of work and I feel more like "real modelling" at the moment. I may use the front and rear IPs as first test parts for my new Sonic Mini 8K, but I first have to unpack and install it. After Christmas, I guess...
  12. Slowly, but we're getting there - those little details take a huge amount of time. I am expecting to finish the model today. Fingers crossed...
  13. Cheers Steve! I'm not getting a huge amount of sleep at the moment, but I absolutely want to get it done before Sunday. Yesterday, the chain gang was busy. The Tie downs and hooks are from REMJ, the chains are from Reedoak. I also hooked up the GPU and connected a laptop computer - the latter won't be seen as it would be located outside the area my diorama depicts. Figurines in situ.
  14. I know it's not super spectacular, but the end is near! I wanted to add a touch of colour, so I decided to draw and print (or have printed to be precise) a Tesla GPU for the diorama. A short research spat out good photos and dimensions of the real thing. A bit more than an hour of work in Fusion 360 and we were ready to go.
  15. My mate Christoph was kind enough to print some goodies for me on his Sonic Mini 8K to replace some PE parts provided by Brengun, namely the pitot tubes and the tie downs. They are incredibly fine and a huge improvement compared with the photo etched parts - but see for yourself. PE parts for comparison. I scanned the fret and inserted into Fusion 360 to ensure dimensions and shape of the new printed parts are exactly identical to the PE parts. I have also added metal rods to the skids to connect the drone with the flight deck. As I am going to add a full set of tie down chains, it won't be possible to remove the model from the base anyway, so a rigid connection is very important.
  16. More progress on the Reedoak figurines. The show is approaching fast... They are still in progress, lots of detail painting is still missing. I'll use decal stripes for the reflectors, as usual.
  17. Brilliant work mate, can't wait to see it in the flesh in two weeks time!
  18. Thanks Zac and special thanks to Maru for your great ideas! I have continued painting and weathering the hull and deck. As usual, the masks for the hull numbers were cut on my Silhouette Portrait. During the drying time, I have started painting the figurines using acrylic paints from Andrea and Vallejo.
  19. Thanks geedubelyer and Maru! Geedubelyer, you are right about the nets. I have tried to make the sag more using a hair dryer but to no effect. They get back into their initial shape once the cool down. I guess I'll have to live with that. The fun part has started. After priming the base with Mr Surfacer 1500 black (and breaking the nets I had to fix countless times)... ... I started painting the deck. Deck markings add life and interest. I have also started to figure out what will be going on on the base (see what I did there?). The guy looking at the rotor already had some hand surgery done. I am not super happy with the guy looking on as he does not look in the right direction (he should look up a bit) - but that will be pretty hard to modify. Not sure what I am going to do about that. ## The guy kneeling will check the plug of something I drew up yesterday - a Tesla GPU. I will have to slightly modify his hands as well. That thing should add a touch of colour and a bit of interest. Looking forward to seeing the printed parts. The handles will be made of wire. A good friend of mine is currently printing it on his Sonic Mini 8K along with some other goodies like die towns and Pitot tubes.
  20. Thank you! Fred definitely made a great discovery . The only problem is to get enough of it. Nobody can eat so many onions to get enough of that netting... The other frames are ready, so I fitted them temporarily to the hull to check the overall look. In the end, the frames will be held in porition by a thin wire; I am currently waiting for the turnbuckles and clevises to fit them. I hope painting will start within this week. BSMC at Putte is approaching very fast...
  21. Thanks a lot Maru and Pete! Well, building the frames was already super annoying, but it's easily topped by webbing the nets onto the frames. It's super tedious, boring and takes way longer than it look. I have spent the whole evening doing it while watching a replay of this year's Le Mans 24 hour race (which I was not able to finish either :D) and I only manage to finish five of them. That's less than half of the nets I have to build. And I am not even taking into account the nets I need for my two elevators and the diorama for the AH-1Z... anyway. The nets are actually bags containing onions my good friend Fred aka @stusbke has discovered and was kind enough to provide me with. Thanks a lot, mate!
