I want another so I can convert it into the P-40Q. Always thought that was one sexy airplane.

    Doesn't that compare well to HK's B-25s?

When I see people talk about how big a certain 1/32 model is, I have to think about 1/72 kits, since 1/72 is my first love and 1/32 second, (completely ignoring 1/48 with few exceptions), and I consider such 1/72 models of the B-52, B-36 or Me 321/323, or 1/48 B-29 and to a lesser extent 1/48 B-17 and B-24. Many, many 1/32 models would be no bigger than a 1/72 B-36 for sure and realistically not use that much more plastic, unless of course the manufacturer thought it had to mold in tons of unseen or relatively needless internal details. Do some basic, even very basic internal detail like the '60s 1/32 Revell kits, that would satisfy 90% of the modelers out here and let the aftermarket guys do the rest or let the builder do some super detailing of his own. Before aftermarket, lots of us actually made details. If they used this theory, IMHO, kits could be made and sold. just do the math on what we could have in injected 1/32 with a 40+" span and 25+" length!

About 30 or so years ago, I scratchbuilt a 1/72 Kamov Hormone. I wanted the rotors to work. I had some gears in my junk box, have no idea what they were from, but I made a gearbox very similar to the one in Avadon's sketch. Non-motorized, but they did rotate properly. I used another gear instead of an O ring. A few years earlier I statrted trying to scratchbuild a 1/32 Boeing XF8B-1, (it never happened) but one of the first things I began was making the props. Again, it was similar to Avadon's sketch, but instead of gears, I was using those little rubber bands that people who wore braces on their teeth used. i used them because I had a girlfriend who wore braces and she had a good supply. I think she may have been the reason the model never got finished 'cause in the 8th grade, she was getting more interesting than plastic models.

You can do a lot with CAD. Let's see them in plastic!

Well, not exactly a kit, but it's 1/32 scale & you can do like I do when I want a 1/32 model of an aircraft that's unavailable as a kit, get one of these display models & then tweak as needed, if at all. I know it's not 'building your own model', but in 1/32, we gotta take what we can get. My 2 cents. http://www.ebay.com/...=item1c24dd7e11
