Jack got a reaction from Martinnfb in F7F-3 Tigercat - BuNo 80405 - VMF 312 MCAS - El Toro, CA 1946
Brian, it looks like this model is going to take up all your ingenuity and skill, but i'm certain it'll turn out to your satisfaction (as said before) but remember this is a limited run resin model, which will ofcourse need carefull consideration and approach on certain parts and fittings (despite its price tag), but in the end.........it'll be much much much better than the "only availlable other option" , but i'm telling you something you didn't know already ofcourse......
I couldn't give you any more good advise or hints on how to handle things which you didn't find out or heard about already, since i didn't tackle mine yet, but i appreciate your in-progress report with all its ups and downs and i hope to be able to match your level of expertise myself.
happy new year
Jack.

Brian, i really can't make any other additional answer/remark/opinion on what's already been said:
I think you're on the proper way to make this model, your dream model, a real masterpiece, and maybe just because of your enthousiasm you WILL notice some shortcomings, and just can't live without fixing them, good show.
i hope i'll have the same talent when tackling this twin monster myself.......
keep up the good work,
Jack.

Brian, i'm sorry i didn't follow up completely on your build, and i must say these issues can be a pain in the butt, but i'm confident that you'll eventually finish your dream build, despite all your "fights" with it, and in the end you'll be mighty proud to have YOUR tigercat on a shelf to be admired.
keep up the "tigercat-spirit"
Jack.

Jack reacted to Shoggz in New “The Shepherd” Out
Just watched it and thought it was pretty good. Thankfully I’m not a Vampire aficionado, so if there were any inaccuracies I didn’t know and hence my aviation pedantry couldn’t interject itself!
I hadn’t realised that Travolta himself had suffered a mid-air electrical failure and hence had wanted to make this film for a long time..
It was quite moving at the end.

So one gift of 3 books. I hope that's good?

Jack reacted to R Palimaka in New "Battle Over Britain" movie to be released
Believe it or not they actually converted three Percival Proctors into Stuka replicas but they found they were very unstable in flight and they abandoned the idea. There are photos of the thing, they didn't look that bad really.
I would agree that Saving Private Ryan has to be among the most realistic war movies...except maybe for 8th AF Mustangs as "tank busters". But for me the Battle of Britain and The Blue Max are still tops for air combat films. I think as far as depicting casualties in the Battle of Britain, I think it was just the times in film-making. Audiences have become far less squeamish, and standards are different. I think for the time the production crew and historical advisors did an outstanding job. I know people complain about Spitfire XIVs and IXs in 1940 camo, and Merlin-powered "109s" and Heinkels...but they used what they had. It was a remarkable effort I think. They tried to get technical details right, even the markings on the Hurricanes in France. No, it wasn't perfect. I still remember going to the screening as a young lad with my Dad...and his surprise and delight in hearing the Poles speaking Polish.
As far as single scenes in movies, my favourite is the Mustang attack in Empire of the Sun.

Jack reacted to mozart in Letter to the LSP staff.....
It’s a fair point that Jack makes; location information just giving a country name, or county/state etc isn’t encroaching too much on one’s privacy!

Jack reacted to quang in Letter to the LSP staff.....
@Jack At the same time, it’s so much easier for the viewers to state my location as ‘Oostende, Belgium’ than ‘somewhere on the North Sea coast’.

Jack got a reaction from BiggTim in Letter to the LSP staff.....
Guys, i would appreciate the input of some LSP members to indicate their position/country/place in this global LSP community, just to be able to get an idea of where all of us are situated, especially when sending or intending to sent stuff to eachother, especially at this time when doing the Xmas raffle, but in general isn't there a common rule to have your "avatar" show some position indication , it doesn't have to be an exact position but country or global position would be appreciated........
Sorry if this item has been brought already to your attention in the past.

Kinda restored my faith in mankind with that one. Good on ya. We could use a lot more shared good times to make up for the sad sitch we currently find ourselves in.

Jack reacted to D Bellis in Col. Gregory "Pappy" Boyington
This, and it is well documented fact - not an implication:
Boyington was only good at 2 things: Leading men in combat and self-promotion. He was famous for stating "Show me a hero and I'll show you a bum", which is a fair assessment of himself but an insult to actual heroes.
