  1. What a great job!!! I have several positive riveting sets, but I haven't used them yet. It is clear to me that I have to apply very thin layers of paint so as not to cover them, so my intention was to paint 90% of the layers, place the rivets, and then finish painting the base color. Once the paint has been applied, have you sanded over the rivets?
  2. Thanks for your comments I'm sorry, I was entering the forum, but without identifying myself, so I hadn't seen your comments. I must return to 1/32 aircraft this year...
  3. Thanks I can´t post more pictures. But, basically is the same you can see in my Spitfire.
  4. Thanks to all, I´m very happy and grateful for your words I´m sorry, but can´t post more images, its a commission for the magazine. Anyway I want to start something that I can post without compromise, probably a Birdcage, or continue with a Fokker DVII, not sure yet Fokker´s engine is already done
  5. Last kit finished, Tamiya A6M5 Zero in 1/32 scale A complete article of this AWESOME kit can be found in the last issue of Aces High Magazine. Hope you like it
  6. Thanks, i'm really happy for your words
  7. Thanks to all for your kind words It´s very easy, just use a plain brush and your finger, it´s the same technic used in military vehicles. First make some test to choose the correct dilution and distance of application for the effect you want to paint: - More diluted: soft and "big" splashes. - Less diluted: hard edged and small splashes. - More distance: bigger and more spaced blotches. - Less distance: smaller and more concentrated splashes. The brush is important too, so take your time making tests and choose the one you like. Always painted with AK products or enamel paints as you can correct it during a long time.
  8. Thanks to all again Tim, you can buy it at http://aceshighmagazine.com/ , in te AK Interactive web and various online shops.
  9. Thanks guys, thanks for your kind words
  10. This is my latest finished build in this scale, sorry for posting only 3 images , but it is a commission for Aces High Magazine Nº2 where is published the complete building and painting process. Hope you like it Juan
  11. Thanks to all Thanks for the advice. When I looh for images of the crow bar I saw it in red, blue, metal, orange...and all of them were restored aircrafts. I choose red beacause it would "brake" all the green color around. I will correct it soon.
  12. Thanks to all, I´m glad you liked it. Of course, you can add it where you want. The Kagero book...what a nightmare...I wanted to paint all profiles Really a nice and a "must have" book. Thanks Maciej
  13. If you are agree, I will try to make it through my next kits, making more photos, more detailed and taking images step by step, trying to explain all with my limited engilsh . I'm now in the initial stages of building the Kai Phantom (will be another hard work of weathering, but different to the Spit); next will be the RNAS Pup (even more different )...and the next...the next will be really weathered ...multi blade...Irak...Afghanistan...I think the 3 kits will be nice subjects for a series of tutorials. I'm not sure if this is what you would like or you would prefer a exclusive thread. Kev, Richard, thanks
  14. Finished!!!! The final post is here: Finished Spitfire Thanks to all for your words along this thread
  15. In progress pics here: My link First, some b/n images to justify (more or less) the paint work: The finished model
  16. Thank you all for your words A "How to tutorial"...wow...I'll try to do it when finish, I promise. Really it is very easy to do something like this. Cheers, Juan
  17. Hi Kevin Thanks for yor words, ¿artist? ...I don´t think so, it´s just a colorful Spit and it draws attention. The level of weathering is a eternal (and always fun) discussion. Personally I´m not a fan of clean aircrafts and with this Spit, sincerelly I´m not sure if I must add more weathering or it is overweathered now, it depends on the photo I´m watching. If I look at this picture the Spit is clearly overweathered But if I look at this my thinking is that I still have to work for long hours. Anyway the effect will be more smooth with a thin coat of barnish.
  18. Thanks to all for your words Here are the latest pictures of the Spit before finishing. Made directly on the desktop. There are colors that stand out too much, as the lighter brown I have applied in some areas and blue roundels, really it is much closer to the base color. The last two photos I have resized to a size more or less close to reality. This is basically the work of chips and scratches in the paint. Seeing the real pictures and again I'm left with the feeling that still can give you more wear, but I think at this point is fine. Right now you just have to finish the left wing of the door, canopy and replace the antenna (again ) . Also need to retouch varnish the oil slick and some more ... have to finish today and tomorrow. Materials are the usual: watercolor pencils, a stump, a silicone-tipped brush and brush normal. And there is no secret, you just have to "settle" the chips, guided by photos or guided by your intuition. Viewing the photos with up to 4-5 people swarming over the plane and you can imagine in what condition was. The color used mainly is "Silver Grey", is not metallic, it´s a kind of very light gray. Besides using a darker and one lighter. Dirt stains are also reinforced with brown, light and dark. In the green also use a couple of different tones. Thanks again, in the next photos will be completed.
  19. Well, the Spit is back...better late than never. I hope this is the final session Meanwhile I was working in a 1/32 F-4EJ Kai, I will open a thread when I finish the Spit. The process is the same, but know I worked the left wing, harder than the other wing. I retouched the right wing in some areas, specially the wing root near the leading edge. Now I must work the roundel and move to the left side of the fuselage and estabilizators. I don't know why but the color in the photos looks a lot of orange...
  20. Meanwhile I was working in two Bf-109 from Sweet (1/144), they are finished.
  21. And more progress with oils. Final pics shows the Spit at this moment, more progress soon...
  22. Some progress pics, excuse me but I don´t have enough time for posting... and I was also building some 1/144 kits (pics at the end of the post). First pics show the work in the wing roots, made with mixes of brown and sand colors. In this photo you can see first "tests" on roundels weathering, made with pencil colors, just to look for the correct colors to use. Work in the exhausts. Welding was made with stretched sprue. The process was as follows: base color is matt brown with a drop of red brown, wash with oils and a very diluted mix of dark brown. Rust pigment were applied in the exhaust exit and light rust just in the edges. The effects created by pigments were darkened with washes of black and finally, all edges were retouched with a 5B pencil, creating the final metallic finish. As ever, the pics don´t show all the work done. Next four pics shows first works with oils, just in the wing roots and panels near the cockpit.
