And next find - 423 - definately a tall tail

Ok - digging a little deeper. Ritgers 109 F to K book has 422 as wnr 411938 as said above (which was normal tail) while 423 and 425 was 412122 and 412126 - another wnr range that did have the tall tail. So - despite the 'compelling' case i made - it is a normal tail :-)

Not 422, but 425 - and that looks like a tall tail to me... Not impossible 422 had a tall tail, but nothing sure of cause

Yep, that looks great. I am certain I will never, ever, try this. That just leaves me having to watch your build instead

I'd go the PCM route. Did a few and while they require some attention, they are very very nice

Beautiful work - got a couple of those in the stack too. Must get one started soon. Every time i start a 1/32nd Tamiya kit I'm thinking "why do I ever build anything else?"

The few times I've stripped a model, I have found it hard to keep the surface 'fidelity' - the fine details, but it looks like you made it.

I finally decided not to do a large diorama for the Cat'. I'm afraid it would become too clumsy. Instead it's going to become a 'Vignette'

This photo is supposed to have been taken at Narsarsuaq (Bluie West One) in Greenland 1943. It's the inspiration for the base.

After some initial testing I made a silicone mold of photo etched PSP planking, Then I pouring the resin copy's, mostly to get a more
uneven structure to the vignette, but also to avoid the cost of the expensive PE.

Everything was then primed with a dark grey color.

Drybrushing with different nuances and using various pigments, the vignette is starting to come to life...

The paintwork has been exaggerated a bit, to get an uneven structured look.

Now I have to put all the parts together to see if the colors need adjusting...

    Cheers: Kent

This years Air Show in Denmark was visited by G-PBYA 'Miss Pick Up' - Of course I had to have a closer look at this very nice 'Girl'.

She's turning 75 this year, but she looks like she's still in good shape.

The interior has some alterations from the original and the danish museum Cat is more authentic, but stil, it's a Catalina....

    Landing gear.

    The crew was great too....

    Lovely !

I did the Trump Swordfish some years ago and I liked it. Only thing was that they want you to put some PE strip along the surface of the wing, something I have found was not there. Just leave it out. I did create problems for myself since I wanted to do a Bismark raid Swordfish, but bought the Mk II kit, so a little fixing was in order. But overall a VERY nice kit.

In an overseeable future my oldest daughter will move out and I will have a dedicated modeling room - when it comes to that I will be copying your 'frame wall' - that is such a good solution !!

    Gentleman,,

My first entry into any group build and first time sharing anything I've worked on here.  I would have shared sooner but I had decided to skip out on the festivities but changed my mind again a little bit ago.

I'll be attempting to build Revell's 1/32 Heinkel He 219A-7 kit as Hauptman Ernst-Wilhelm Modrow's He 219A-0/R6 coded G9+FK.  I'll correct a few things with the kit but not everything.  It looks like an He 219 to me so no need to fix everything.  Expected completion date of never.

So fast forward almost 5 years and I dug this one out of its box and finished it just in time for this years Model Expo in Melbourne.

Sorry for no further WIP pictures but I needed to get it done. I built this one out of the box with the only addition being the rigging. I used the Yellow Wings Stencil data, roundels and Thunderbirds logo with all other elements of the scheme being masked and painted.

I will do some studio photos once the dust of expo clears.

This weekend, the Dark Falcon made its first public appearance at the air show at RAF Cosford. What a great show it was! And on top of that, the aircraft was awarded "Best Presented Aircraft" for the most eye-catching colour scheme and best presentation at RAF Cosford Airshow 2018 !

Now, isn't that something? Here's another shot of the jet!

    Hi Guys,

Still struggling with the Mustang.  I've spent ages masking up panels and throwing on paint  AND causing untold damage to the existing paint.  I HATE NMF!  By their very nature metallic paints are fragile and even with the cotton gloves on, there's still damage.  Oh well.

One thing is for certain: I won't be using the Stars'n'Bars stencils I've designed and cut, can't afford to have them lifting the paint, so back to decals from somewhere.

In the meantime, here's progress so far:

    Masking tape by the ton!

Hopefully you'll see the slight differences in metal colour shades.  Still a lot more masking and painting to do.
