  1. Two updates, disposed of the hideous curtains during a re-decorate, took the Dr-1 down and decided to scratch build some wire wheels, which turned into a big job. See below, New curtains, no triplane )-: Turned the rims from a 1/2" sheet of ali Made an indexing tool for my lathe to drill the 40 holes I needed Made a crude jig to lace the wheels Here's a finished wheel compared to the plastic kit item Here is the first wheel fitted Here she is back in the ceiling Thanks for looking Nick

  3. Major Issues? just a few From memory heres a list of some of the scratch built parts:- Prop, valves, pushrods, cowling securing cable, fuel tank, ammo bin, compass, rear bulkhead, many, many turnbuckles, top decking, side decking, wing boxes, wing ribs, wing tips, undecarriage torsion box. It's probably bad form to post to another site, but there is a full build over on Britmodeller here Link Regards Nick
  4. Hi Harvey, thanks for your comments. Your scale question gave me two problems to solve: 1. What's an international object that's instantly recognisable and the same size the world over, 2. I've now winched this beast up on the ceiling which was always my intention to complete my new house, so not easy to photograph. Anyway, had a go at scale with - an iphone! what can be more universal than that Nick
  5. Thought I would share some pictures of this old monster kit I have just finished [/url Thanks for looking Nick
  6. I have developed a technique using 'Plastikote' copper spray paint that comes in a rattle can. This stuff takes about a week to harden properly and leaves a very bright metallic finish, it's much thicker (and more forgiving) than Alclad, so is self levelling and leaves a good surface with much less preparation needed. I then use Tamiya weathering pastels (Burnt Red/Blue/Oil) to tone down and work in the shading Regards Nick
  7. Hi all, though you might like to see the start I've made on the Big Trumpy Swordfish:- First off Neomega Pegasus Lick of Paint Eduard bits and RB Sutton Harness Lots of PE to add Thanks for looking Nick
